When will do update Z Ultra to Android 4.4? - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Sony Xperia Z1 rumored to get Android 4.4 update in 7 November. I still have not received 15.10.2013 update's. And we have not android 4.3.
When will do update Z Ultra to Android 4.4?

Why??

He's trolling (as usual). My guess is that we'll get it at the same time as the Z1 considering we've received the previous updates at the same time as the Z1. We'll see CM 10.3 (4.4) or ParanoidAndroid (4.4) way before Sony releases anything though, so if you want 4.4 as quick as possible, then keep an eye on CM or other custom ROMs a couple of weeks after Google's 4.4 release.

Have you installed PC Companion on your computer and plugged your Ultra to it? It's available for most people from there.

And Thank you, have fun!

Alright, and Sony officially released it on December 16th, so if this is a release candidate we'll probably get in a few days time - if we're lucky.

Hmm, but we're in the middle of the month now, so if the past tells us anything, we'll receive an update very soon, i guess? But i'm not in a hurry. We've got a fine collection of ROMs now, so take your time Sony.
so is this KitKat or something else

Might be, will have to wait for it to be pushed out - hopefully in the next day or two
A Sony KitKat so quickly..that would be amazing but somehow I doubt it is..but you bet I wish to be wrong!
Doubt that. Just a minor fix i guess.

Judging by the version, it'll be bug fixes. However, just because a firmware has been certified, doesn't guarantee release.
Coming soon.

So a random moderator on a forum that has no direct connection to Sony (i.e he doesn't work for Sony) says KK will probably be released at some point. That's not news.

Yes, but we already knew that. Sony said that 4.4 for the Z1 and ZU is scheduled to be released in January/February, so this isn't news.

I've got an interesting question. Once Kitkat has been officially released by Sony, would obtaining root be fairly easy?
Or would it be a mission like on current 4.3 firmwares where we have to downgrade, root, flash, etc?
I'm still on 4.2 and will not bother upgrading until Kitkat has been released and obtaining root is done by a one click procedure.
If anything it'll be harder to root
And you would more then likely have to downgrade etc

What Jack said
There is a slight conflict here, you want an easy root path, but you want a secure phone that no one can hijack. If there is a one click root tool then there can just as easily be a 'no click' root exploit that you dont even know has been un on your phone and the writer/hacker now has full control of your phone - see the problem?
The way Sony wants us to do it (and the best security model for us and them) is to unlock the bootloader and install recovery to flash our phones - this is what we do now except we do the extra steps of running a root exploit so we can latter restore our bootloader/TA to a factory state

Doh! I take it it's best I stay with 4.2 and firmware 532 for now...
There's not much of an advantage for me to update to 4.3. I already tried and saw no noticeable improvements...

I understand. What you said makes sense. I previously used Vroot to root previously like most others but after hearing rumours that were apparently true, I no longer used it. As you mentioned they may be stealing our imei numbers and taking control over our phones violating our privacy...
Since Kitkat 4.4 is around the corner, I won't bother updating to 290 Firmware. Who knows, we may need to downgrade and flash to root Kitkat.
As long as we have an unlocked bootloader root is easy
hmmm.i remembered that when the nexus 5 came in..they got it rooted fast.since the software securities of 4.4 is almost(if not the same) with 4.3..but who am i to say..im just a simple guy passing through... but hey, we already have a working kitkat rom for ZU..so why wait? *smiling

You're the second swede in here that haven't received 4.3, and since both Norway and Denmark received it a month ago, I'll conclude that Sony hates Sweden Sony and Ericsson did break up after all, so I guess Sony doesn't want to go back there and risk bumping into Ericsson. Awkward.
I assume you've checked PCC for the update, and that you haven't changed your CDA to a country that haven't received the update (a mistake I did).

You can flash a GPE port Rom onto a standard Ultra but OTA will brick your device.
Please shout out if this new release of 4.4.4 becomes available for download.
I'm hoping that it will be the best ever kitkat release for our phablet until android 5 is stable and safe to use.

.157 source code for the Ultra was published 30 minutes ago. Funny how Sony themselves calls it the Z1 Ultra, and not Z Ultra. The model numbers are right though, so it's the Ultra. Have anybody actually received the update?!

Z Ultra (C6833 & C6843) firmware 14.6.A.0.368 (5.1.1) certified

Hi guys, new firmware for Z Ultra (C6833 & C6843) has been certfied. It is probably 5.1.1 update and it should roll out soon. This firmware is right now certified only for Z Ultra C6833 & C6843 variants but Z1 and Z1 Compact should see certification of this firmware soon too.

Sooo... They said they would start rolling out the coming weeks, but it's been a month and a week.
It just got 'certified'... whatever... that means... And possibly get the update in another week, only to discover that they haven't fixed problems but introduced new ones. We still haven't got a worthwhile lollipop rom... and at the same time google has announced the next android.
because sony does not listen to user feedback about bugs and problems.
Last time I called customer support, they did not know the difference between content adaptive backlight and automatic brightness
Yeah, I ain't buying sony again. 4 sony phones are enough.

Nope, as long as they're 5.1.1 they are fine
Cool, just need to figure out how to update without loosing root now.
Audio FX Bass & Treble setting gone now, though they didn't probably work for some time now. Having some apps reset/refresh now, though might not be updates cause. App drawer won't stay in installed order. OTA- getting worse each update. At least good 3 versions back.
