[Q] Internal file recovery? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so i have a question I am hoping you can answer.
So andorid os,
Htc amaze 4 G to be exact.
There was a factory secure wipe/factory reset done somehow and
Had photos which might have been storing to the internal storage instead of external sd.
So my question is i have tried numerous recovery softwares that usually works.
I can get all the pictures videos etc all the way back to a year ago off the external sd.
However i cant recover anything off the internal storage.
I cant even see the internal file structure.
Almost like it never existed.
is there a way to be able to scan the interanl storage?
I tried scanning what can be detected in windows but it recovers nothing from the past.

ASTRO deleting files? Or is it the phone?? Help!

I just got the new Evo LTE, and I had photos on phone storage/internal storage. Using ASTRO, I tried to move them into my new 16gb SD card (it was clean, fully formatted and everything). However, it stated that the "MOVE FAILED." and then the pictures were just gone! They didn't go back to the original location or anything, it seems as if they were deleted off the phone and SD card completely!
Was it the phone? Or was it ASTRO? Should I have not mingled with the internal storage and the external storage the way I did? Is there any way I can get those photos back (there were about 500 photos)??
Please help, I've grown desperate. I even went to the sprint store but no luck.
no comment on the error (although I've only moved that many photos back and forth between the phone and card while plugged into the computer), but I've used Hexamob Recovery PRO *ROOT* with great success to restore accidentally deleted photos (there's a free version too - I don't know what the difference is). You should also consider automatic photo backup through dropbox if/when you're able to recover them.
I have to root this phone to be able to use that? I wasn't planning on rooting it yet because I just got it.. Is there another way to recover them? I don't even know if it'll be found in the SD card or the internal memory..
I think all of the "undelete" apps (and there are a few of them out there) require root - sorry.

[Q] Recover Internal Phone Memory

So this is probably a question that has been repeated time and time before, but I couldn't find anything on basic phones to try to help me with my question.
My sister has a ZTE Adamant from Verizon that she was trying to get pictures off of by connecting the phone to her computer. Well low and behold the phones CD** drive only contains data for installing a EXE for drives, no list of internal storage. So one of the first things this magical software by Verizon ark’s is do you want to update your phone? However clicking yes ended up deleting all of the pictures(and only pictures) off of the phone.
I've tried for countless hours to find a way to get into the phones internal memory to try and recover the pictures. Called up Verizon and they informed us that because the phone updated, the update needed storage it deleted data off the phone for room. Which he suggested the files may have transferred to the computer or was deleted from the phone. I've checked her computer and could not find any JPG's that were recently added.
So my question; is there any way to recover the internal memory or access it without taking the phone apart? This is a task that is phone without thinking when a SD card is installed, but since the drive is not recognized, i cannot think of a way to get to it. If there is a way that will end up bricking the phone but being able to recover the data I’m all for it by the way.

Internal Storaged wiped; Data gone forever?

Ive been running a AOSP Rom for about a month. Yesterday I took it off the charger, and when it booted up It went to a black screen. Even a battery pull didn't help, so I restored a backup from last week. It worked great, but it would not recognize my external SD. I couldnt fix it so I went into recovery, did a full wipe, and restore a sense rom. That worked, my ext SD came back, but my internal storage was gone, all the data was wiped. Ive tried several data recovery apps/programs, and they dont detect anything?
Mainly, I am trying to recover voice recordings, and voice mail that I saved. So am i SOL???
Try mounting internal through recovery and run a recovery program that can recognize corrupt, deleted, and formatted partitions. Assuming you have windows, Recuva is a pretty good at recognizing the differences. Actually recovering files is hit and miss, but it's very reliable for a free program

[Q] Accidently deleted files on internal storage (solved)

Hi
I accidently deletede all files on internal storage, when trying to setup DropSync. My mistake. Wanted to sync a Dropbox folder til internal storage, but had it set to sync from Dropbox to internal storage root. Well, all files are gone, except the folders synced from Sropbox and the Android folder.
My question is, how do I recover the files that resided on the internal storage. I have only used my phone fore some days, and didn't have any data (of my knowledge) on the internal storage, that I've put there. A don't mind doing a factory reset of the phone, if this means that the internal storage will be build up again to a normal state. I have no idea whether the files are necessary or not, and the phone seems to work fine. Since I've synced other files to the internal storage, I guess a recorvery is waste of time. Haven't found an aswear to whether a factory recovery would rebuild the internal storage. Hope someone here can answer my question.
Best regards
Frank
Did you delete internal SD then just restored but if you deleted system file / with no root, I can't help you.Find your phone's forum online they will be able to help if anyone can.

Hi lamike
Thankz for your reply. I'll be more specific, since I forgot this.
I'm on a non-rooted Sony Xperia Z3 running Android 4.4.4.
I installed DropSync to sync folders between my Dropbox and the internal storage. I set up sync from Dropbox to Internal storage, which resulted in only (first) the folders from my Dropbox appearing on internal storage. My mistake was not syncing to at dedicated folder on the internal storage, instead of the root. Then the folder "Android" appeared, and others has show up in the time after the sync. I've had my handset turned off to, which also returned some folders I could recognize. Funny thing is, that when I connected the handset to my PC, I could see the folders, that was gone when browsing with file explorer tool on handset. Weird. Tried to copy all folders, but was only able to copy a few.
Will a factory reset rebuild the folder/file structure on the internal storage back to as when recieved from the factory? As mentioned before, I havn't placed files (only some ringtones) on the internal storage, so I don't think I'll be missing anything.
How does the internal storage work? Are there files residing here, that the system depends on, and which needs to be recreated? Since I did the sync, and new files has been placed on the internal storage, I think a restore might be out of scope, or what? Again, if I can restore the files, by doing a factory reset, I'll just do that. Only used the handset a couple of days.
Best regards

Well, I went ahead and tried doing a factory reset. From reading several posts, I thought the phone would be brought back to original state, as when I turned it on the first time. But that wasn't the case. Files that was placed on the internal storage by me, still resided there after the reset, which astounded me. I thougt everything was wiped when doing the factory reset. This means that I manually have to delete files, when wiping the phone, or what? Also, original files from Sony wasn't present/recreated after the factory reset, like sample pictures and videos. Are they not recreatable? Isn't it indeed possible to recreate the phone to it's original state, as the factory reset claim to do? If the factory reset claims to reset your phone to the state you recieved it in from the factory, then I'm truly scared, since old data would reside in the internal memory, on phones that I've wiped and sold.
Edit: Ohh, just found out, that a tick should be set, when doing the factory reset for erasing data on the internal storage. Missed that. Trying to factory reset the phone again later today, and see what happends.
Edit 2: Well, did the factory reset again with the tick set. Didn't recreate the original files placed on the internal storage by Sony.

Contacted Sony Support today. They suggested running a repair through PC Companion (PC software). Tried it, and also tried updating through PC Companion. Same result. Took contact again, and was now told that, it's not possible to restore files like sample pictures and videos, unless I send it to a local service center. Since non important files has been removed, needed by the system (also confirmed by Sony Support), I'm clear to start using the phone. Happy days. Hope I don't f*** up the phone again like that, doh.

[Q] Problems viewing CWM Backups on my PC and phone

Hey guys, I realise that I may not be on the correct forum for this and for that i apologise, however I am quite new to this website and don't know my way around.
Anyway, I have recently backed up my whole phone storage to SD card using CWM recovery as there was no option to backup to an internal device. I wanted to take the backup and move it to my computer but I have a HTC One m7 which has no SD card. This isn't normally a problem for me because all the files seem to show up on the internal storage when i look on my computer anyway however despite searching through all of the folders, I simply cant find. The backup is 5gb in total and I know that it has been made sucessfully because my available storage has decreased by 5GB but it simply can't be found. Even when i look at the file manager on my phone I can't see it. Even if I can't move it to my PC I atleast want to be able to delete it, will factory resetting the device remove root access aswell as everything else and will I have to start all over again to delete this hefty 5GB backup?
Thanks for reading
