[Q] Samsung S2 Boot problems after CWM recovery 5.5.0.4 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
I have a samsung s2 with some version 4.1.2(I don't remember).
I wanted to upgrade it to JB 4.2.1
I went to some links which mentioned that I should install CWM recovery before going for flashing of ROM.
However what mistake i did is I tried to load GT-I9100_ICS_ClockworkMod-Recovery_5.5.0.4.tar on the phone using ODIN (which I think is an ICS version).
With this...problem is I am able to go to download mode, also I can go to CWM recovery mode with errors like unable to mount the sd card.
But the phone does not start.
It boots to the start-up screen and shows a yellow warning triangle below and shuts down.
I am not able to use the phone at all.
Need some help. Is there a way to go to stock firmware or to remove this CWM recovery to take it to whatever android stock firmware version it was.
Please help.

Download stock rom from Samfirmware, flash with Odin (How ? Thread stickied near top of Q&A has all the info you need). Clean slate.
Then flash custom kernel to root your phone & give you CWM. Flash custom rom/kernel of your choice.

[Q] Need help with rooting [official ICS 4.0.3][UCLE5]

Hello guys, So I'm fairly new to rooting (first android/smartphone/ but good experience with PCs) and was wondering if anyone could help me out. I'm using the ICS 4.0.3 build from kies, with the UCLE5, and build number IML74k.CLE5.
*from reading the stickies I've learned to NOT use ROM manager, galaxys2root.com, and to not use the STOCK ICS method as it has a brickbug ( the ones on forum)
Last night I tried rooting my phone by using Doomlord's guide but it didn't work ( I had unknown sources, and USB debugging on*but my phone was on and not on download mode or anything* )
Then I tried SuperOneClick root and it was just stuck on one of the steps, and the only way to stop it was to end task the program and ADP...any tips on what I'm doing wrong? Sorry for being a nub lol
*please move to Q and Q accidently posted in general section
Just use Odin to flash any ics kernel u want.
so I guess Ill try to flash using step 3. on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285894 using ODIN3, then install a kernel ( i want to use 3.3d Siyah ) and then flash a custom ROM (like semi_v17) *the guide from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1650948 correct?
I also want to add that after i Root using 2c.) How to root by flashing Entropy512's Return/Unbrick to Stock, Kernel + Rooted System Package with Modem using Odin3 One-Click Downloader (Windows) that method, I boot into 3E recovery and perform data/factory wipe, wipe cache, dalvik and reset extweaks profiles...then install semi_v17 ROM while in recovery mode and done? Just making sure before I do anything with my phone
I know that relying on the sticky posts leaves some confusion because of Gingerbread and ICS versions. The Entropy512 stock plus root is a Gingerbread firmware with stock kernel and root. If you go that route, you then need to install a Gingerbread custom kernel, and then you can flash Semi from ClockworkMod Recovery if that is what you want.
In my opinion, since you are already on UCLE5 stock, the best route would be to flash the UCLE5 stock plus root package that you can download from the development section, and then install a custom ICS kernel. I know you were trying to avoid the Emmc Superbrick Bug, but since you have stock UCLE5 with the stock kernel on the phone now, you already (supposedly) have the Emmc Superbrick Bug present in the stock kernel. All the instructions needed to install a custom kernel are contained in the OP of the UCLE5 stock plus root thread.
If you have additional questions, just ask.

So I flash the build from this [Heimdall][Odin][Stock][Root]UCLE5 Stock ICS with Root..(no need to flash according to thread)
pick one of the the three kernels (prob going with AJ siyad) and install using Odin lite..then ROM? (like Semi v17?) it gets confusing at some parts cause on the Stock ICS + root section is says to wipe before flashing if coming from another base (im guessing since im on the UCLE5 base i dont need too)

Yeah just use mobild odin to flash a kernel and then boot into recovery then wipe then flash semi. I really wish we could update those stickies. They are pretty confusing
One last question...sorry for being a complete noob lmao after I get the kernel, I boot into CWM recovery wipe...and use mobile odin to flash semi?

help! my s2 was stcuk in samsung logo

ya, my problem just like the title
my phone was stuck at samsung start logo
and i try to open recovery mode and it does not work it.
my phone already boot.
try to help me pls
No recovery mode means you only have one option - flash a stock rom in download mode (power/home/volume down) with Odin. Go to Samfirmware & get a stock rom for your carrier (not 4.0.4). How to flash ? Search. Been covered here thousands of times before (There's a thread stickied near the top of Q&A which should have the info you need).
I just had this kind of problem today flashing a new ROM. Had no choice but to flash a different kernel through ODIN. Just get a suitable kernel for your firmware in .tar.md5 format and flash it with ODIN, worked for me at least.

[Q] SHG-I777 Need help with CWM reco installation

Hi ,
I am currently having 4.1.2 official on my SGH-I777, recently rooted it and have mobile odin lite installed.
Need CWM recovery installed so that i can flash SuperNexus2 rom. So i have downloaded recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.0-i777.zip file from clockworkmod dot com website . Can i flash it directly from the stock recovery which i have now? or any other safe method you can suggest.
In some thread, there was a mention to flash boot.sys file from other kernel using Mobile odin which will get cwm installed.
If this is the way to go, please suggest a safe Kernal. I am just looking to get a stable daily driver for now, as i dont have an alternate phone.
Thanks in advance
the stock recovery isn't good for much, so no, it won't allow you to directly flash the cwm recovery.
Once you're rooted and have mobile odin (&the odin i777 kernel) installed, you're halfway there.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2452388
Happy flashing.

If i flash boot.img extracted from AJK, will i be able to boot into the stock 4.1.2 which i already have, or should i directly start proceeding with CWM and the new ROM, just want to make sure before i start.
...side note warning... Do not use Rom Manager with the i777. If ya do u could possibly brick ur phone. There is a Stickied thread in this forum warning of this.
....no back to the regularly scheduled topic.

I think the nomswap version will allow you to boot to stock 4.1.2, but I can't promise that, I've never tried it. You should prepare as though you won't be able to return once you hit [flash firmware] from Mobile Odin. It's all covered in the guide.

Yes, if you use AJK v4.8 NoSwap you will be able to boot into your 4.1.2 system.
Also, if you are new to the I777, you should know that the recovery, including CWM recovery, is a part of the kernel, and not in a separate partition, so it can not be flashed separately from the kernel.

[HELP] i9100 soft bricked

I tried to put custom recovery for i9100 via odin. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118693
I wanted to flash unofficial CM11 to replace official 4.1.2
Flashed .tar.md5 now phone won't boot, but it can enter recovery and download mode. (Options ticked were Auto-reboot and F. Reset Time)
Then I downloaded stock firmware 4.1.2 and tried to flash. It stucks at NAND write start.
Then I tried to flash another kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877270
Same thing. In recovery I did wipe data/cache, same thing, display remains blank on power on.
Please help. Thanks in advance.
You need to get a successful Odin flash of stock to give you a 'clean slate' to start again (with flashing a custom rom/whatever) from. Find Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread & try the stuff in it, you should be able to get it done with the suggestions in the thread.
Thanks, it was phone from friend and it scared me to death
I flashed earlier Gio and realized I can flash kernel in zip, so that phone is now running CM11, but this info might come in handy when he wants to get back to stock. Also, I'm getting this phone next week, so it's good to know workaround if I run into a problem.
Yep knowing how to recover is a must before you start flashing stuff. If you're getting an S2, download at least one stock rom for your carrier/country from Samfirmware & keep it on your PC w/Odin in case you ever need it.
^+1.......and also make sure you have a working (official Samsung) USB lead......(or even more than one)
sent from either my Alliance powered S2 or my ArcoCM powered W via XDA Developers App
And make sure you have backed up your efs folder too. Something like ktool is good for this. Get it from playstore. And a good working nandroid is a must.

[Q] S2 wont boot! stuck on the logo and shutsdown

guys my samsung sgs2 wont boot up stuck on the sII logo screen and shuts down but working on recovery mode and i also tried restoring my back up but still the same happens.
my s2 is rooted and running beanstalk 4.4.2
Recovery mode = factory reset. If that doesn't work, stock rom from Samfirmware, flash with Odin. Problems with Odin flash ? Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread stickied in General has all the info you need to get a successful flash (you may need to do a factory reset as well after the Odin flash if you end up doing this). Once you've done that, re-root your phone & try restoring your nandroid, or reinstall custom rom/kernel & start from scratch.

already factory reset and tried flashing my custom rom again but still that happens.
can you give me the link where to download the stock rom? but i dont know my baseband version.
Samfirmware (Google it). You don't need to know whatever baseband you have (it's irrelevant anyway), download any stock rom for your carrier/country (not 4.0.4) given you'll be going back to a custom rom anyway.

Won't be repeating myself in this thread again. You should already know this stuff if you're modding your phone in any way.
