Why is there no auto brightness? - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

I just think its weird that there is no auto brightness? You can set it to adapt to lighting conditions but that really only increases or decreases brightness a tiny bit.
Its way to bright at night and not bright enough during the day. Just seems like a big oversight to me...

Thanks! Lux works quite awesome!

I tried Lux too, on my Z Ultra, and it is working perfect.

Is it normal for 35% battery life to be used in an hour?

Super IPS on balanced with web browsing.
2d rendering off, using .14.
turned it on at 100% at 3:00, it's now 4:15 and I'm at 65%.

looks like something is probably holding a wake lock. Were you using it when it went down? Install betterbatterystats to see what keeping it away for the whole hour if it was not being used.
Also what was the brightness on?
I was just posting on xda for the hour.
is your tablet scaling frequencies properly since the last update if you look at cpuspy?

I guess I won't be using that anymore unless I absolutely must, that discjarge rate is ridiculous.
where the line starts to even out more towards the middle is when I turned off super ips.
Yup, it's all Super IPS mode. I was disappointed with the TP's battery at first but that was because I was running it at max brightness with IPS+ enabled. Now I keep it at 33% and I usually only charge once every other day.

Huge light blur in camera (especially in darkness)

Hi guys, whenever there's an object that shines light it creates an unreasonable light blur around it ruining the picture, it is even present at daytime.
I've attached an example, anything I can do? Thanks
Camera results in night are very poor and daily ones where there is indoor lightning or reflection come out very wrong
Sorry, here's the file

Greasy Lens?
Not to sound condescending, but have you tried wiping the lens of the camera? It happens to me in broad daylight with white objects all the time.

Banding screen Droid RAZR

Hi, all!
I have just bought my new moto, everything is cool but screen has parallel lines at low brightness and on grey and blue pictures. I heard about this issue on Super AMOLED but I think that on my screen this is too match. Please, check out photos.
The first photo is white pattern at low at brightness level about 10%. The second is grey pattern at about 80%. The last one is photo at about 60% of brightness.

Is it normal or I should to swap phone?
oh snap, that is real bad, compared to my phone thats really not normal.
Yeah not normal
you should get it replaced.
I went to service center in hope to replace for a new one but there don't want to replace, they show me another phone with similar defect and sad that this is pretty "obvious" for this model. I think they are hustler or I have a luck to talk with not competent people.
Thanks a lot for your respond, it give me confidence that truth is on my side and I will try to replace phone anyway.

I've installed the ROM and must admit it's pretty good for me, as you mentioned the camera does show red and green colours.
But I've installed the GCam_Mi9SE-7.2.014_v.0.2 camera and it works good no colour shading or anything ?
I'm keeping this as my daily just now and hopefully it gets updated.
Can you please share the camera that worked for you?
Also, if you are kind...can you please check in developers option if it has RNDIS option for usb?

How check if screen is AMOLED or not?

I brought a refurbished 3T and I think the screen is replaced.
How can I confirm this?
Any other test than black png so to provide a concert evidence to the seller.
thanks
AMOLED displays are pure black when the pixels are off.
It's striking in a dark room.

Yeah I tried that, that is why I think I have being conned.
But is there app or something like that can make the claim uncontested.

The resolution is as promised but I suspect the screen is lcd not AMOLED, it doesn't mentions anything like that.
Get some polarized sunglasses and turn rotate the display. If it's LCD you'll get the blackout effect.
