[Q] Hard Brick My Razr? - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hi i'm abit of a noob at installing custom ROMS, I used a CM10.2 nightly ROM and now my phone wont load past the first flash screen "Dual Core Technology". It loads that screen for aprox. 5 seconds then dies.
I also have the added problem of my phone not booting into recovery so I cant install a stock ROM.
Someone HELP MEEE!!
UPDATE! I can now access boot mode menu and all subsequent menus, including android system recovery. but still cant get onto CWM. and can not reboot my razr, loads motorola logo for 10 seconds then dies.

RSD lite back to stock, and use safestrap or bmm instead of cwm. Preserves your stock rom slot. Also, you are always able to flash to stock which is 4.1.2. You avoid the problem of not being able to downgrade. You'll be flashing through AP Fastboot mode.
If you absolutely have to use cwm because you need all of the internal memory available, don't use nightly releases. Use stable/milestone/release candidate versions.
The good news is you have access to your boot menu, so your phone is still in good shape. Make sure the battery is fully charged before flashing with RSD.

Ok, well Ive got RSD Lite open and my phone connected in AP Fastboot but nothing is showing on my computer, is it on my computer that it recognises the device or is it simply on my phone?

The Wipe!
°It's all about the Wipe°

Ha, what I ended up doing was taking it back to the shop and played dumb...not sure if I should be insulted at the fact they thought I wasn't the type of person to rootmy phone or whether to take it as a blessing. But rocking HTC One X now, thanks for your help tho

restoring using nandroid backup, after wiping data

Hi, I am pretty new to this stuff, so bear with me here.
I recently rooted and installed eclipse v 0.5. Everything went well except I did not get my contacts and figured I did something wrong in the original ROM. I decided to go back to my original rom...but decided to wipe data because I thought that was the right thing to do. Now I have no idea how to restore the nandroid backup because I don't know how to get to clockwork recovery.
Help would be appreciated.
Thanks

agreed, u should still have bootstrap installed. are in in the os and dont know how to perform the nandroid restore or are you in the recovery and dont know where to go from there?
After you flash a rom the first time you use bootstrap you have to click install recovery

It has been my experience that after wiping data the bootstrap recovery is gone. Or I guess I shouldn't say gone but it will not boot into recovery after data wipe.

weird, I had root and bootstrap still installed after wiping data/cache and dalvik cache.
That Might Have Been Read Wrong, By Flashing Recovery I Meant Pressing The Install Button. To Me That's Flashing The Recovery.
Have you tried just plugging in the phone to the wall charger. Yes wall. And wait to see if it goes to recovery mode.
If it doesn't work all I think you can do is sbf and start again.

ok:
what do you do if said event happens where your recovery doesn't load through after the rom installs with the wipe/cache wipe
your phone boots, however your usb conditions are stuck on usb mode rather than charge mode.
the initial setup starts but is stuck in a loop of force closes that never end.
i have successfully used Roms in the past, no big deal. when **** hits the fan i use sbf; but i'm stuck in limbo where both recovery and sbf are seeming to be out of my options - unless i can change usb mode to charge mode by some strange form of buttons pressed.

Unplug your phone. Hold volume up and power on until you see the m logo and rsd protocol starting.
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
well that allows rsd to find it but - it won't just flash it and call it good. i'm getting all sorts of errors from rsd saying something about my ini
Code:
Failed flashing process. Unable to retrieve initialization value from INI file (0x7029)
i get this error before the above error (before i actually "start" it)
Code:
Chipset type 53 is not supported
restarted computer:
updated drivers:
no dice, same errors
EDIT: the problem was in the RSD version i was using, i got everything working now. thanks!

Friends Atrix and my inspire doing the same thing

So a friend of mine has an atrix and I have an inspire, and tonight I did the same things as he did. Ruined our phones.
Background
We both have rooted phones upon flashing a different rom to my phone it "bricked" it (i use that term loosely) Well upon boot up it would stay on the custom boot image that I installed. His was doing the same thing not going past the boot nor going into Clockwork.
Well upon looking around the inspire forums I found a PD98IMG file that took my phone back to the original setting like it was out of the box. I just had to do the normal power+volume down button it and it located the file and extracted everything. Now my inspire works like it was (thank god for backups of previous roms prior to flashing LOL)
Now the question and the reason I am posting in this forum. Is there something like what I used to help my friend get his Atrix working again? I was thinking this would work but not sure. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163009 and this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125944 would this work to get his phone past the boot so he can get his phone working again?
Provide more info on his problem please...

his is the same as mine was. power on and it stays on the main boot screen. according to him he cant get past the boot screen nor into his bootloader same issue I had.
Sounds like a boot loop. Read on it.

That's not a boot loop if it just stays on the screen and doesn't reboot over and over.
Is his bootloader unlocked?
What ROM is he running?
Custom kernel?
Any text on the boot logo screen?
How was new ROM flashed? (Fastboot, CWM, SBF, etc.)
Can CWM be accessed by holding the volume down button as the phone powers on?
Don't flash anything via RSD.

Have him try to flash the SBF again, plugging the USB cable into one of the "back" ports on the computer. Also make sure the battery has a good charge before hand.
Also using another computer may help. Sometimes it's as simple as the USB port you/he was using.

My atrix 4g will only boot to motorola logo, I have an unlocked bootloader but like a fool i did a factory reset and lost root access.i have no cwm and cant find a way to get it without root access and even if I do I still have no recovery..how can I get root access without the usb debugging set and not being able to boot into phone.I have no os..i cant seem to flash anything without root so im stuck and really have no other option but to figure this out with someones help.

yes says cannot load..pretty much im stuck because i was on 2.3.6 and messed up something in framework and it made my phone not capable of booting pass the motorola logo. i was rooted before all this but when my phone got stuck i did a factory reset before i knew it would take my phone back to having no root and also from what i read it resets the phone so usb debugging is not checked.also ive gotten the 0x1000 error no os detected too..basicall i have no os on my phone and cant root without the usb setting and cant get to that without booting up phone..ive tried pretty much everything but without root i cant seem to flash anything at all.my bootloader is unlocked.i can get to factory ndroid and recover but have nothing to recover.i think my only option is finding a way to get cwm on phone without root or being able to boot.not sure.. sorry bout the long sob story but ive tried so many things from the forum

you can solve this easily
go and get the 2.3.4 sbf with unlocked bootloader
rsd it
and your atrix will live again

I would try the automatic bootloader unlock tool. It has a tool in the utility for "failed to boot / no os". I had the same problem as you and this worked great. It was very easy to do. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182871&highlight=automatic

download this file named "ATT-2.3.4_Pudding_preroot.rar"
the use RSD to flash this sbf into your Atix
After then, you can boot with stock recovery
Try to wipe factory reset and wipe cache
Then you could boot into 2.3.4 which already unlock bootloader and root.
Good luck!

Maggedo my buddy you my sir...are a master of your craft. now that im fixed up I see that the fix was right in front of me the entire time it was just a matter of finding good links and a decompressor to extract the .sbf from the .rar..popped it in rsd ran it and bang im no longer the owner of a couple hundred dollar pocketmirror/weight..still ironing out a few details and gotta get my root access back and try to recover some of what i lost.you saved me though. i have no warranty, couldnt do insurance swap and im pretty poor haha so i had no other options.saved my life man!!! if i could hit thanks more than once id sit here and do it all day.thank you very much.
I was stuck on the Moto Dual Core Screen as well. I used the automatic unlock MAIN program to unlock, root and install custom recovery. When I tried to flash epinter's CM10 ROM I got boot hang at the Moto screen.
You can RSD back to stock (e.g. I found the AT&T .151 sbf file and restored my phone to working condition on 2.3.6 GB).
In the end I figured out that the recovery in the auto unlock tool (both the telfar and CWM options) was borking the CM10 flash. I ended up:
1. RSD lite AT&T .151 GB 2.3.6 sbf file
2. Unlock Bootloader with automatic unlock
3. Root and install custom recovery
4. Boot into android
5. download goo.manager from play store
6. Install open source recovery with goo.manager
7. reboot into recovery
8. Make backup of everything
9. Flash JB CM10 & GApps
Phone is up and running w/o issues. A bit of googling should find you the necessary sbf to get you on your feet again.
Good luck!

Just flashed to RockoDev 2.3.5 with locked bootloader and I'm in a bootloop...=\

I had 2.3.5 on my device so I couldn't unlock my bootloader first...
I've rooted my phone and flashed the ROM using BootStrap recovery, but when I rebooted my device, I just see the motorola logo (without the pulsing wave. just the logo with "DUAL CORE TECHNOLOGY" written...
If i push the power button with one of the volume buttons I can get the RSD protocol mode or the FastBoot menu.
Is there anything I can do to try and recover my phone?:crying:
Please help!

you can try restoring your system because that's all that's messed up. i've had a couple people try my system restore method and it worked. one has reported a failed to boot 4... you can alternatively try the sbf restore. both are shown on my site here http://www.motosunfire.com/system/ be sure to restore your backup (which you should have one) if you get it booted from the system restore.
thanks for replying

it shouldn't hurt because it's only restoring the system files. you can either do that or flash the Electrify SBF, but then you need to do a bunch of other steps to restore your phone. so it's up to you. i've had a few have success with my system restore method. one failure. i don't see it bricking the device in any way. it's as safe as it gets
ok

[Q] HELP!!! Bricked my wife's phone! (Safestrap)

HELP!!!!
I'm a semi-amateur at rooting, and I'm worried I bricked my wife's Droid Razr MAXX. Here's what happened:
A year ago, I rooted her Razr and installed safestrap, which came with its TWRP interface. It had been running slow, so yesterday I said I'd put her on a new ROM. I installed CM 10.1.3 and everything seemed to go smoothly. After I'd finished the install of the ROM, using safestrap and TWRP, I reinstalled all her apps and everything.
Then I reinstalled SuperSU, VooDoo OTA Rootkeeper, and Safestrap v2.11. I ran safestrap and noticed it said it didn't have custom recovery installed, even though I knew it did. I don't know why, but I hit the button to install custom recovery.
Well, her phone was being screwy so she reset it at work. It then began to bootloop, and she turned it off (power + vol up + vol down). I turned it on, the safestrap splash screen showed, and I hit "menu" to boot into recovery.
Instead of TWRP, I am getting the green and black stock recovery screen. Uh oh, right? So I don't know what to do now. I wiped cache and dalvik to see if it'd reboot, but still, it bootloops.
Do I hit "Disable Safestrap (if stuck in recovery)"? I'm afraid to do anything at this point, out of fear of bricking her device. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Download RSD Lite 5.7 and download the 4.1.2 firmware here

Wait for files to extract then flash. Hope this helps. Any further questions you can send me an IM at [email protected]

Did you try to install SS from within CM? SS is intended to be installed and managed on stock. Did you install CM on a new slot in recovery?
Also, the latest SS version is 3.60.
For future reference, your actions should've been these:
1. Uninstall custom recovery using whatever SS you have installed on stock.
2. Uninstall SS and install newest SS version.
3. Install custom recovery using the newly installed SS.
4. Reboot into TWRP, create NEW slot and flash ROM.
Right now, I'd recommend what nickmoogo said above - start fresh, and do everything in order this time around, good luck!

That's exactly what I did. I have no idea why I did it either. Since I was on v2.11, clearly it's been a while since I touched her phone. So there's no way other than starting over from stock firmware, huh? If I could just get back to the TWRP interface I'd be much more comfortable, but I know SS's version of TWRP is unique. If starting fresh is the safest bet, that's what I'll do. Thanks guys!

Someone more knowledgeable than myself could maybe advise more in this case. Start fresh is what *I* would've done.
Flashing stock is not that hard of a procedure, and after installing some roms and finding the one that works the best for you, you won't be seeing much of stock anyways, I know I don't.

Links in the index, but you need to use correct version
Bootloader version must match, or at least it cannot be downgraded.
