So a friend of mine has an atrix and I have an inspire, and tonight I did the same things as he did. Ruined our phones.
Background
We both have rooted phones upon flashing a different rom to my phone it "bricked" it (i use that term loosely) Well upon boot up it would stay on the custom boot image that I installed. His was doing the same thing not going past the boot nor going into Clockwork.
Well upon looking around the inspire forums I found a PD98IMG file that took my phone back to the original setting like it was out of the box. I just had to do the normal power+volume down button it and it located the file and extracted everything. Now my inspire works like it was (thank god for backups of previous roms prior to flashing LOL)
Now the question and the reason I am posting in this forum. Is there something like what I used to help my friend get his Atrix working again? I was thinking this would work but not sure. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163009 and this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125944 would this work to get his phone past the boot so he can get his phone working again?
Provide more info on his problem please...

his is the same as mine was. power on and it stays on the main boot screen. according to him he cant get past the boot screen nor into his bootloader same issue I had.
Sounds like a boot loop. Read on it.

That's not a boot loop if it just stays on the screen and doesn't reboot over and over.
Is his bootloader unlocked?
What ROM is he running?
Custom kernel?
Any text on the boot logo screen?
How was new ROM flashed? (Fastboot, CWM, SBF, etc.)
Can CWM be accessed by holding the volume down button as the phone powers on?
Don't flash anything via RSD.

Have him try to flash the SBF again, plugging the USB cable into one of the "back" ports on the computer. Also make sure the battery has a good charge before hand.
Also using another computer may help. Sometimes it's as simple as the USB port you/he was using.

Atrix 2.3.4 - 4.5.91
First off, I've done like 10 hours of researching today so please bare with me.
I thought I had unlocked my bootloader and rooted my phone in the past. I'm able to tether so that was a sign I did it.
Today I attempted to install romracer cwm based recovery with rom manager. When i tried to install Rom from the sd. it restarted and said "failed to boot 2" after doing some research it said it was possible my bootloader was not unlocked. Now I think i did the right steps back when.
How do I find out for sure if my boot loader is unlocked.
I'm doing all this because Im attempting to get my phone back to stock as can be. I want to get it back to warranty for the following reasons
1) my video play back is all messed up on my recorder. (will a sbf fix this)?
2) when i insert a external sd card to my atrix, my screen sometimes turns black when it wants to).
So this is where i'm stuck. I read the newbie threads. Thanks for all the info. But man this "failed to boot 2" scared me. Luckily it didn't brick my phone. Took out battery and it started back up.
Help please
If your unlocked it will say unlocked in red letters at top of screen when turned on. If you aren't unlocked its possible you have just rooted your phone I think not positive that a factory reset would unroot your phone. Just go into recovery hold volume down when turning it on cycle down with volume down and choose with volume up in recovery both volume rockers are used to navigate and power is choose.

So i did a factory reset. I guess there was more steps i need to take when I saw the android logo and "!". is my phone unrooted thanks for anyone who can help. As mentioned before. I don't think my phone was ever unlocked because I didn't see it when I started up my phone.

Use pudding thread to unlock your bootloader, install Rom Racers CWM via fastboot after you are unlocked. If you want to make sure you are rooted after that, use the Moto root, stuck at top of the General section.

i doubt I can flash without being bootloader being unlocked. I did a hard reset. wiped everything out. So thats why I was asking if that unrooted my phone.

hey guys im kinda in some desperate need for help lol. so i had twrp 1.1.1 installed, but i wanted to go to 2.1 and try it out. i successfully flashed 2.1 and booted back into system. i wanted to flash leedroid tweaks so i booted back into 2.1 recovery and flashed it. it went through but i cannot get past the splash screen. i tried to boot into recovery through fastboot to make some changes, but i cannot get throuh because i still have that zip on my sdcard and it asks me to apply the update every time. im not sure what to do at this point...anyone have some help they can give me?
Another reason why twrp sucks.
Just do a full wipe and reflash the Rom you were currently on.

PG86IMG.zip is the file you speak of and no...youll know if you install that bc of the screens that load up
finally got it. i couldnt access anything because my phone couldnt get to recovery. i ended up having to go and buy a sd card with an adapter to manually move the files around. i had to go back to twrp 1.1.1 through bootloader and then reflashing a rom. what a mess. but its all good.

damn all you had to do was pull the sd card, boot to bootloader, take the back off, pull battery, put sd in, put battery back, and unplug. Glad you got it figured out though, I just wish I got here sooner.

Lmao that sucks did you have another phone layin around with a usb cord for it.
it seems I have the worst of what the gentlemen has.Actually I have been stuck at the splash screen for
more then and 30min each time before the boot loop.I have had it unlocked in managed to install sos m rom but never was able to boot into it so I tried mean roms same issue.I then re locked ,installed the
htc dev stock rom still stuck at boot screen, now have unlocked again and still stuck
at boot screen following your immediate method no results any help is greatly appreciated
hboot 1.5 S-on unlocked
cwm-4.0.1.4-shooter.img
I'm having the same problem. I figured out by holding down the power button for 20 seconds when its stuck in the splash screen it will bypass the issue. If that doesn't work pull the battery out and put it back in. Hold down the power button down 20 seconds while it attempts to boot.... hopefully that will get it to boot into what ever Rom you previously flashed. I have flashed, several differant roms, done super wipes, modified wipes, flashed differant recoveries, updated the radio, and I'm still having issues where I get stuck in the splash screen or I have issues where I can't boot into recovery (its a hit or miss after a couple of different approaches)
This all happened after I went from ICS back to GB (mean rom)

I just got an Evo 3D and I am trying to flash a custom recovery image. I used htcdev to unlock my phone, then I flashed the latest Clockwork mod recovery image to the phone using fastboot, but when I try to boot into recovery from the bootloader it just reboots and it never takes me into recovery. Ive tried flashing a few different recoveries in the hopes that I just got a bad file but nothing works. Any ideas?

Try downloading 4ext from play store, after inatalling it will walk you thru the set up to flash the recovery
Can you get into the bootloader by doing the following:
- Pull out the battery
- Put the battery back in
- Hold the volume down button
- Hold down the power button while still continuing to hold down the volume down button
From there you should go str8 to the bootloader screen rather than the splash screen.
If you get to the bootloader screen, are you able to get into the recovery from the bootloader menu?

Yea, do the battery pull, you can also unchecked 'fastboot' in settings, power.

So since I posted, I have made it to the next step. I have TWRP recovery installed and working, but for some reason the whole boot.img and kernal flashing doesnt work. After trying for another couple hours trying to install MeanROM I have had no success. Flashing the ROM from recovery works fine, but once it gets to the step of updating the kernal, it just freezes and I had to pull the battery (waiting 10+ minutes). After doing so, I could get past the boot screen, but it would never properly load the ROM, I just got an endless status bar and black screen. I went through this process a couple of times before I decided to restore to my original nandroid backup. Even restoring the backup caused it to hang when it got to restoring boot.img. After waiting another 10 minutes I pulled the battery and rebooted and luckily was able to get into the stock Sense ROM, which is better than nothing, but I really wish I could install a ROM like MeanROM.

Try 4ext Recovery (see my signature). It will flash the kernel properly for S-on users.
It didnt work for me, I am still on the stock ROM so I dont have root access. Is there a way to flash 4ext through fastboot?
EDIT: I got it installed with fastboot, trying it now. Thank you for the suggestion!
EDIT 2: I worked!!! Seriously, thank you again!

you can try restoring your system because that's all that's messed up. i've had a couple people try my system restore method and it worked. one has reported a failed to boot 4... you can alternatively try the sbf restore. both are shown on my site here http://www.motosunfire.com/system/ be sure to restore your backup (which you should have one) if you get it booted from the system restore.
thanks for replying

it shouldn't hurt because it's only restoring the system files. you can either do that or flash the Electrify SBF, but then you need to do a bunch of other steps to restore your phone. so it's up to you. i've had a few have success with my system restore method. one failure. i don't see it bricking the device in any way. it's as safe as it gets
ok
ok, I've done what you've written in your website

you don't need a battery even. you can flash the phone without a battery i've done it. works just fine oddly enough! just need that handy power connector!
Tried everything I know (which admittedly, isn't a ton). I picked this P7510 up on eBay. The guy said it was locked by a virus. I'd never heard of that but I figured if i could get into Odin mode i could fix it.
It boots into Odin just fine. Once the drivers are installed, Odin sees it and I can flash anything I want. Passes every time.
When Odin sends the re-boot command the device hangs. No splash screen. Nothing. It won't boot into recovery.
I can always get into Odin mode, so I tried flashing different recoveries (CWM, etc). Odin passes it every time, but I still can't boot into recovery, even using the buttons. If I try to do it from the two choices on screen when you hold vol down and power, I get a blank screen.
I hate to give up. Any ideas?

Boot loop at Samsung screen.
Interesting...
Have you tried flashing ICS (4.0.4) through Odin? maybe that'll do the trick.
Outside of that, I can't really think of a solution.

Obviously something does not allow it to boot into recovery. So I also suggest trying to get it to boot normally first by flashing ICS through Odin. After booting, then you can try rooting it. For all you know the device may not have been rooted already.
Cheers!
