is the screen to big?? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

hello guys.. i dont kno what to do.. i never had a phablet before.. i always have to have the next new toy out.. and i loved my s4 when i had it.. rite now i have the htc one.. i had the s4 before the one.. i thought that the screen on the s4 was perfect.. 5in.. my one is 4.7.. i think 5 is perfect.. has anyone that had a smaller phone that got the note 3 tell me is it that bad?? if i get the note 3 will i get used to the huge screen?

The only issue I have with the Note 3 is carrying it around at work in my pocket...A small brick. I love the screen size otherwise.
Sent from my SM-N900P using Tapatalk

I came to the note 3 from an htc one and I haven't had any regrets. The bezel is so thin that the transition wasn't a problem at all.

I find the other phones way too small.

I switched from the note 2 so it's really not a size difference smaller bezels same size phone

I came from the Galaxy Epic 4G. First generation and now... Anything smaller than the Galaxy S4 is too small.
This phone is a beast. Well worth adjusting to the size. Bluetooth/headset with a mic and answer button helps if you feel weird holding a tablet to your head.

I have a HTC One as my business phone and a Note 3 as my Personal... I know that is kinda backwards. I have both with me most the time. There is no problem, for me at least, going between the two. Unless you have VERY small hands or wear "skinny" jeans there will not be a problem.
Oh, also if you hate having people looking at you and saying "WOW! That is a big phone..." or "What is that?" or "Is that the note?" You might want to reconsider. Wait till they see the mega LOL!!!

I wish it was a bit larger at 6" to be honest lol

screen issue
It is the size with capable of 1920*1200. Therefore, it is so big for good entertainment.

Completely Disappointed.

Because now it will be almost impossible to move to a smaller screen.
It's huge, sharp, bright, has wacom support, high contrast, and completely perfect. There's no going back....
Anyone else feel the same way?
It's gonna be hard to go to the inevitable sgs3. I plan on keeping my note throughout though, as a Wi-Fi tablet/ in car media center
I don't even have mine yet and I agree. I played with it for 15 minutes or so yesterday, and now I can't wait to upgrade from my Infuse. And the size is so perfect. I know that the Note will only be able to be replaced by its successor when Samsung releases it. I hope they continue the series, as I will be a Note user for life if they continue it. Hell, I could even go for a slightly larger screen if they manage to figure out edge to edge displays that will fit in a similar sized package. Samsung has nailed the future of mobile devices with this one. Completely secured my loyalty to them through the Captivate, Infuse, and soon the Note. I can't get over how awesome of a device it is, even though I don't have one to call my own yet.

Not just ICS.
I have dreams of full CM9 w/ the S Pen apps baked right in.
I didn't realize i had missed the AMOLED screen from the cappy until i came back to it with the Note.
My girlfriends atrix is impossible for me to use anymore since the screen is so dark and small. Only thing I'll ever miss is the notification LED

[Q] s3 or wait

should i buy the galaxy s3 or wait for a new mobile Note2????
Umm depends on which you like?
The Note II was rumored to be a monster performance and S III leave to dust, you might wait. But if you prefer a smaller screen buy the S III.

I think it is not possible to answer the question because every few month
a new generation appears.
If note 2 is released you can also ask: Note 2 or wait for Galaxy Nexus 2,
if Galaxy Nexus 2 is released you can ask: Galaxy Nexus 2 or wait for Galaxy S4 ...
The right time is never found, or buy now or never ;-)
Have to agree. There will always be something new coming out. Get the GSIII. Its an awesome device. You can always sell it if you really want the Note2 when it comes out.

There will always be something a bit better around the corner.
I'd recommend the GS3. Not only is the hardware very good, but because so many people have bought them, there should be plenty of pressure to support the device well, remove any minor residual bugs etc. Enjoy it now.
like people said..it depends on what you prefer. The S3 4.8 screen is perfect for me..fits just nice in my pocket any bigger it wouldnt be that comfortable to carry around when I dont have my bag with me.
I will be certainly getting the Note 2 no matter what<<
The key is you have to know what you like. Would the phone fit your life style. If we all said yes and you bought it because of our vote. You will blame us if you didn't like it afterwards.
If you like to switch phones around, You can always sell and trade.

IMO the note is just too huge. Plus I will be honest.. I live in NYC and ride the subways with tons and tons of people everyday.. I notice things about them, what phone they have or what tablet or gadget they are using. And honestly... I mostly see women with the note A LOT more than men. I'm trying to think if I have even seen a guy with a note... yes I have like 3 or 4 times since it was released.. but have seen countless women with them. I have a theory about this too.. I think it's because guys really dont want to carry it in their pocket, and it fits perfectly in a purse. lol

Note 2 will be slimmer and smaller in size than note 1, though with a slightly larger screen.

Out of interest. Those that are saying go for the note. Is that down to any issues you have with s3? Or just that note2 will have a a better spec?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Bump... What are people's issues with S3? Anything to put me off getting it? Or is it awesome. Would particulary like to hear from people who came from s2 on improvements?
I like the led notification, but what about the speaker, is sound muffled like in s2 when placed flat down?

[Q] Have A One X, But Want To Try A Note. Thoughts?

I'm pretty much on the fence of trying a Note. I was against the Phablet look in the beginning but I have pretty much tried every device that has made a mark on this forum and am thinking of giving it a go. Just looking for some opinions/thoughts on this.
Are there any advantages/disadvantages?
Do you think it's a even trade?
Thanks.

Its not nearly as bad as you would think. You get use to the size in about a week. Then any other Phone feels like a little toy. One thing for sure, one you watch some videos on YouTube on the note, you'll never want to watch then on anything else.

Size. Great screen too. Overall a great work horse for a semi power user.
I use the spen for quick notes when I am in a call or a quick thought. Watch YouTube like a fiend on the huge screen. Also use it like any great new phone and stream music to 3 different BT devices. The battery life can be hit or miss at times but i have an extra battery and an 8100 maH battery pack to charge with.
I've thought about a nexus many times but can't let go of the note. Next phone will have to have at minimum the same size screen and probably be 1080p

Do you want to go for a note 1? It's a 1000 times better to go for note 2. I had been using htc 1x but did not like the idea of unlocking the bootloader stuff from htcdev. So sold it within 1week of purchase as I bought 2nd hand.
Note 2 is really nice if you can come to terms with the massive screen. Display of note 2 is better than 1. Htc one x screen is nicer but smaller.
Major difference is the battery which runs out for 1x within a day of moderate usage. Whereas note2 lives to almost 2.5 to 3 days.
1x overheating is a major pblm. Note 2 never clocks more than 32 deg but 1x shoots to almost 45 deg normally.

I think giving the note a try is a good idea. Battery life will be an adjustment. It seems I charge mine 2-3 times a day.
The screen and features more than make up for the battery deficiencies. I don't even over clock mine and it never lags. I'm using Padawan v6.2.

As the OP pointed out, it felt like a downgrade. The S4s screen is pretty nice but I found it ate through the battery pretty quick when it was on. The S4 dropped to 3g in places my Note would hold 4g. The S4 didn't seem as smooth as the Note with a rom on it. It just didn't feel worth the money.

The screen wasnt that big of a differnce. There was a lot of lag everywhere, from the camera to making a call and all that smart stuff wasnt what i thought. There was a few flaws, but everybody feels different about things. U have 14 days to return it..just make sure u go to the corporate store,if not u have to pay an $80 restocking fee. I'm in a similar situation. I picked up the S4 Thursday, played with it for a day, and hated it. The camera was laggy (0.5-1 second shutter lag), the UI and apps themselves were laggy, it felt like I downgraded because of the smaller screen and the battery life was a lot worse. I went back to my Note 2 for the weekend and thought about returning the S4.
Then last night I decided to give the S4 another shot. I did a factory reset, installed my apps again (except I only installed what I REALLY used, which is about 60 apps), rooted, and froze/uninstalled a TON of apps and processes using Titanium Backup. After customizing it even more it's been much better in terms of performance and battery life. The screen is amazing on the S4, it's much brighter, whiter, no jagged edges on text (MBP > MBP Retina), easily viewable in sunlight, etc.
I thought back to when I first got my Note 2 and realized that the S4 is still brand new, when the Note 2 was new it was also laggy and full of bloatware. The S4 is only going to get better as OTA updates come out to fix these few minor issues, and once devs start to build solid ROM's it's going to be just as reliable as my Note 2 is on Beans 17.
I enjoy having a phone that I can actually fully use in one hand, fit in my pocket without being uncomfortable while sitting, and more importantly actually be able to fit it in cupholders!

LMAO .. right haha
But the note 2 wasn't laggy even with Verizon bloat and a ton of apps. I used it for a while stock, non rooted and it was just ask fact as it is on a custom Rom. I really feel like the snapdragon CPU's are just inferior to exynos. Plus it never gets hot.
