Okay so my launcher was crashing so i rebooted, i couldn't get passed the boot screen so i reflashed the rom via sideload, then fix permissions and wiped davlik. I can see the full file system in ADK and my pc sees it but it stays on the htc boot screen, also log cat isn't reporting any errors

haha maybe
your phone is rooted???
if yes:
1. go to cwm and do mount and put rom, gapps etc...
2.wipe data/cache
3.flash rom and gapps
4.wipe cache
5.boot your phone
I rooted my fone a week ago with TWRP as my recovery mode.. Then I rerooted my fone to replace the TWRP recov with clockworkmod recov.. now I was going through my storage and found out that there is a folder of the old TWRP which takes 1.+Gb.. I was kinda thinking of deleting it.. would it be alright if I just delete it straight or would it affect my current mod if it got deleted..
Currently on cm9.1
Any help would be very much appreciated.. cheers

It has the TWRP backups.
Don't think I would really need my backup in that one as I've backed my system up using the clockworkmod before flashing cm9

Try flash a stock rom by FlashTool, Install your kernel, and try again.

Hello devs, I'd like to restore my lil bro's photos from his dead system, he knows for sure that his internal memory is intact because suddenly the system has died on him. ((No system but stock recovery, download mod work))
He gave me his device and begged me to restore his files
So, here it says that I have a custom rom but he said he never flashed any rom?!
so how do I restore his files? Can I just flash a custom twrp recovery and mount USB from there or will that wipe his memory??
if so, then what do I do?
Thanks.
Philz recovery will allow you to run aroma file manager, installing a recovery won't wipe data.
Copy files from data to the external sd.

But what philz do I use if I don't know which stock rom was I in?
I had tried flashing a TWRP kernel from ODIN, it says fail
Hey
Philz is a recovery and that doesn't mind you using ROM..
You can try to flash it from Odin n pray it works..
Best Of Luck..

You seem to confuse the s3 with the s2, recovery on the s3 is wholly separate from the rom or kernel.
If you can't flash a recovery with odin then your emmc chip is probably toast, which would include all data on the phone.

@tchindalia @boomboomer
ODIN says Failed: there is no PIT partition.
Is there a workaround?
Hey
Is RE-PARTITION unchecked??
And I hope u didn't include any pit file in odin...

Not ticked, and I didn't
There is no work around for data recovery, if the rescue firmware from general thread won't flash either then you are looking at a dead emmc chip -warranty repair.

Did you have root before? If so, try smartswitch, or flash the stock ROM using Odin.

Did you flash the latest version of your ROM? Also maybe just try booting into recovery and reset it from there. That should work. If it doesn't, please also provide the error given there. Because it looka like a partition of your phone is missing. That's what I think the /preload stands for. Might just as well be just a directory.

Did you try to reset from within the recovery? Boot into recovery mode and reset data/factory reset there. Also try smart switch.

Dif you try smartswitch already? If not, then please do it. Also which bersion of Odin are you using? You might also want to try to remove the .md5 part from the filename and try again.
I also just found the following solution:
1. Unpack your firmware using Winrar
2. Rename hidden.img to hidden.img.tar
3. Load the hidden.img.tar into Odin under AP and flash it.
See if it works. If it doesn't please try smartswitch.
