You can try by installing an app like Titanium Backup on Google Play. It will ask you for ROOT permission. If it asks you ur good to go, if not flash a different kernel.

it's ok now thank you to arkedk! dude thank you i really thank! your so intellegent!
You should press on Install (you can always press that, in some cases not). If your case is you can't press then start over or try Sony Ericsson Update Service. If that doesn't work, just restart pc then try again. After some times it will show up.
U opened a thread yesterday in regards to installing a custom Rom, could you not have asked this question in that thread?

No but that thread he wad asking for support so he could have easily made a post with this relevant question.
But I suppose we need a new thread for every individual question someone has?
Like I said he could have posted this question in HIS thread from yesterday which was also a repetition of many threads that have previously been opened by others... check it out.
End of matter, Im not that fussed to get into an argument about it, too much of that on here these days

And ifso wich guide and files to use?
Member since 2009, 102 posts, yet skipped the stickies and FAQ?
Yes, it's possible, and you've got several choices. Good luck finding them.
I've searched already but did'nt found exactly what to do and i dont want to risk taking the wrong path.

Seriously, you didn't even need to search. Q&A section. Fifth sticky. (SERIOUSLY. Like 3 inches below the "NEW THREAD" button you used to start this thread)
Roots any i9100 that has 2.3.5 or earlier.
Thnx for the helpful reply's

[FAQ] [ROOT] Questions about rooting SGS2 via zergRush Exploit
Well i've read it already and been reading a lot about it but i did not asked it if i knew what to use!
Maybe to you it's easy but i can't seem to find the answer that gives me the certain things to do/use.
Hopefully someone will give me the helpful/right answer (as i did in some posts) because when you take the time to reply it might as well be usefull.

Read post #4 of that thread. It has a WORKING link to the "[04/Jan][ROOTING/UNROOTING] DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit [v4.0](zergRush Exploit)
" thread. (I say working because post #1 has NONworking link to the same page. Thread author didn't link it properly)
If you can't understand this and think it's not helpful, I would suggest you not root your phone. No offense.
Thnx i've got it.
I'm not a noob but there is so much info and it's sometimes difficult to read the correct things because of the language.

I think he's fine. He's in the Netherlands, according to his profile, so T-Mobile Europe, not T-Mobile USA... so he SHOULD have an I9100(and does, going by the screen shot of his "About Phone" screen in post #1), not an SGH-T989.
Im fine indeed
Now trying to find out what the Possibility's are now it's rooted.
FE: now it's possible to flash a custom rom?
What are the essential things i have to do now that it's rooted?

You could have flashed a custom ROM withOUT rooting. Indeed, there are several custom ROMs that come already rooted.
EDIT: Sorry, ignore the above sentence. I'm mistaken. You need root. My bad.
Sorry, but in my opinion, you went backwards on this. You rooted for the sake of rooting, then wondered "what can I do now that I have root?", instead of rooting because you needed to do something that required root. But I digress, and I'll get off my soapbox now.
That said, several apps that require root that I like are DroidWall (control what apps can access the internet via 3g and/or wifi), SixAxis Controller (use a ps3 controller on your phone - great for emulators), AdAway (ad blocker), Chainfire 3D (for Tegra only compatible games), Root Explorer (essential for tweaking files in system folders), Startup manager (control what apps are allowed to start when the phone boots), Titanium Backup (backup/restore applications and their data, freeze apps), and SetCPU (undervolt/overclock/change governors/etc).
First of all i rooted for the apps that need rooting like titanium and some other apps.
Second, indeed for flashing because i always thought it was essential. (saw your edit)
Third, i read some things about security issues (dataleaks fe.)and thought i had to root to solve them.
Maybe i'm totally wrong but as i said before there is so much info that its hard to pick the right things out of the topics.
Thanx for your help. Learning more everyday

Flashing roms two methods ODIN or CWM and now MOBILE ODIN .
If you want to flash a custom rom you read that roms install instructions no more and no less .
Most but not all custom roms are flashed via CWM
CWM requires root and CWM install .
Root + CWM .

OK getting further and further every minute
Now know that with the actual root i can't flash.
Do i need to unroot this root before Root CWM?
So i read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399 and took Odin.
Now wondering wich CF Root to take.
My kernelversion says: [email protected]#2
Wich kernel i need to take:
this one: CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XEF_KJ2-v4.4-CWM4.zip
or this one: CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XEF_KJ2-v5.0-CWM5.zip
Or am i reading it wrong?
KJ2 might as well take v5 CWM
jje
And what about the unroot part? Do i need to unroot first and then CF-root?

I cant find my original Kernel version for removing the Triangle. Is it possible to find it on my device and move or extract it?

[Q] Move or delete this thread, please!!

I would like to know if by changing my phone's rom and kernel i'll lose any data or the root or unlocked bootloader.
Not in the right section next time try to post your questions in the genera section tanks , and you will lose all the data but the bootloader will remain unlocked no matter what you do till you relock it using one of the possible ways to do that
Sent from my MT15i using xda premium
Sorry, i thought it was the right place.
By all the data you mean all data in phone memory, right? And what about apps that are installed but was moved to SD card? They still have some files on phone? Will lose those too? Like gameloft games.
Thanks for answering
Close please they never learn

You could just post an answer and then the thread would die instead of posting crap.
That's not the way to get answers or help. Be respectful.
Search and read - all the answers are there.
I'm sorry, but i've seen people post questiosn here and i didn't know that it was the wrong place. But since i just can't move or delete this thread i appreciate if i could get my answer here.
Do you guys think it's better create another thread in general and wait for an admin to shut this one down?
Just want to know a way to change the rom and kernel without losing any data.
right use titanium to save data all apps not system data unless you plan on a stock rom or a nandroid back up in advanced you can restore data or system or cashe
please pm me if you want more info
rename this thread please close: for mods to see
Thread closed now. Please OP have a look to XDA rules before post again. Thanks all.

Have a look here => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487, if you want to flash the ROM yourself with Odin.
Alternatively you can try to let Kies update the firmware, if it recognizes your phone.
Or try OTA update driectly on your phone.
Good luck !
P.S.: As I like to have always the newest ROM and need root for some apps, I recommend to flash latest pre-rooted ROM from here => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1608071. But it's your choice.
Do i have to get my ohone rooted for the pre rooted rom?

Have a look at that noobs topics. This is the 3rd time youve helped him and its in one ear and out the other.
You post a link and he asks if he needs to be rooted.Just shows he cant be bothered reading it when it says you dont need to be rooted.
He is obviously not prepared to read the rules nor read guides in his own time.
So can someone please report him to Crachel/any moderator.

It is on the phone browser. But you have to sign in to see it. It doesn't appear if you aren't signed in.
Right enniocharchar, i have locked your other 3 threads asking the same question as you are here, may i point out that you can only start one thread to ask a question, asking the same question across multiple is against XDA rules and with this question being a simple how to root your phone question a simple search would have found you all the answers needed.

How to update phone, when the phone is in modified status (rooted)

Hi guys, I'm just new to my phone Samsung GSIII, and I have rooted my phone using the cf-auto root which I followed here on the forums, and I have a problem on updating my phone, it is saying "failed to update firmware, try using PC software (kies).. blah blah." can anyone help me on how to update my phone? THANK YOU VERY MUCH
btw: I am also new with android phone, so I'm very sorry if my question is very "noobish" to some. T_T
Well, it clearly says "try using Kies", which would be the answer to your question. You can also flash via Odin. And please search before posting.
Hit "report" on your post and ask for it to be moved to the correct section, General is not for questions
