[Q] Asus tf300t Recovery loop, driver issues. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

"""I recently updated my TF300T to JellyBean 4.2.1. That worked fine. I then wanted to see if I could root this version. I tried 4-5 different custom recoveries, including multiple TWRP and CWM versions. Although they were able to boot to the custom recovery, they could never mount any of the data on the tablet, so I wasn't able to flash any custom roms or root my device. Anyway, I finally installed the latest CWM for the TF300 on JellyBean (6.0.3.1 or something). I still could not mound any tablet data from the recovery. Although installing any of this on a brand new 4.2.1 was incredibly stupid, it gets worse...
I thought that maybe if I did a "wipe data" on the device I would be able to mount it. I then got stuck in a situation in which the tablet would only boot to CWM recovery. I didn't even press the volume key- it would simply go directly to the recovery. This was useless, to say the least, as I could not flash anything or do anything from this.
I then found a way to actually boot into my transformer- I used my PC and typed "adb reboot-bootloader". This gave me the option to cold boot and get into the tablet like normal. However, any subsequent reboots or power-offs would require PC intervention and a cold boot in order to boot into the tablet. This wasn't convenient, although I admin it is much better than where I am now.
I tried multiple times to flash a new recovery, and the same CWM stays on the system. I cannot for the life of me get this stinkin CWM recovery off my device! I ended up trying to wipe my system again, and now I'm absolutely stuck. I can only boot into recovery if I don't do anything on the PC. I can get into fastboot by using a PC, but that's about it. I can't boot into the system after fastboot, and recovery has no rights to change any files.
I can run commands to write new recovery, system, etc using adb, and it sends the file, "writes" it unrealistically fast, and then just says OK as if it was complete. The screen on the tablet doesn't change at all during this, other than the fact that the blinking box for the Fastboot options becomes solid. I have let it sit there for 10-15 minutes and it simply does nothing. (The last attempt was "fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash system blob" where the blob file was the one from the most recent stock firmware download from ASUS.com.) I then have to manually reboot the tablet using the power button, and the whole cycle starts over again.""" I didn't feel like writing all this out so I'm plagiarizing; kill me if you like. I did exactly what he did and got things working the way he did.
Recently though I wiped my hard drive to start a clean windows 7 from scratch and I can't figure out how to get the drivers installed on my computer. As Asus hasn't published them from what I can find and I haven't gotten the android sdk manager to do anything past flashing cmd prompt for a millionth of a second. I basically just need help with the drivers, so any help would be very appreciated. I haven't found anything so far looking through the forums that has helped by the way. I haven't been able to find any threads with solutions yet...

I used the asus pc sync package for the tf300t from asus's website since the tf300tg did not want to download, in any case that with the new google sdk works for me.
Also I noticed issues using anything but twrp openrecovery-twrp-2.5.0.0-tf300t-4.2.blob when it comes to mounting and backups this is the only one that i tried that worked so far.

>>[HELP!!]Transformer Prime Stuck at ASUS Boot<<

Okay guys here's the dealio-
I recently got my transformer prime and I *loved* it. It came pre-loaded with the .21 version of ICS, which can't be rooted as of now so I downgraded to stock .15 with a modified ViperMod and then rooted and installed CWM. Next, I installed the Gummy custom ROM onto my prime (still .15). Well, I started to experience some weird -probably ROM related- issues and I ended up deciding to flash back to stock. ...BIG MISTAKE on my part I found out! I used the modified ViperMod to flash back to the stock .15 and it ran through the process but stopped at the ASUS boot logo with the little loading circle going around and around and around. First I let it sit for a VERY long time-stuck on boot. Then, I tried turning it off and back on-stuck on boot. Next, I tried pushing down the little recovery button-stuck on boot. I tried booting into CWM, but obviously, since I flashed back to the stock .15, all I get is the android guy laying in his side with the red triangle.
I am really really hoping that this is not a hard brick because the error that people are describing is the tablet stuck in the screen with "EeePad" in the middle and then getting something about an "unrecoverable bootloader error". My tablet boots past the EeePad screen and there is no error message-just the endless loading circle.
I am hoping that one of you smart guys could have a clue on how to revive my tablet. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and maybe I can buy you a beer if you bring my baby back to life
Here is a picture of what it looks like (circle is still spinning):

so you can get into recovery? I saw you said you tried to flash cm9 again. if you caught in a bootloop, jemaine made a zip file you can flash to get you out of it. you have to search for it though in developement section. does your computer still recognize your prime when you hook it up to your computer? you may need to adb commands into prime.
good luck getting it back running.

I no longer have cwm installed, it is just the stock recovery so I cannot install any .zip's. Also, when I plug the tablet in wile its on the Asus loading screen, the computer DOES recognize it. Maybe there is some way to get into it and reflash?
Any suggestions guys?

When you say your pc can see the prime can you see it with adb? If not go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426502
Once you have adb figured out you should be able to reflash recovery. See this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1576937
I used method 2. You will need to push the blob file to your prime using adb. Hope that helps.
Won't turn off and stuck on Boot screen PANIC!!!!
I'm running CM9 nightlies on my 64gb TF201 and have had no issues with it. I'm using GooManger and Teamwin for recovery and have not had any issues in that department either. Until now.
So 2 days ago a nightly was released that I flashed with out issues. The updated ROM however wanted to open the virtual keyboard when I started typing so I decided to revert back. I did this by just flashing an earlier released nightly. It went through the process and then restarted. The boot screen came on and then never left. If I try and turn it off it just restarts. I can't get it into recovery but I can get into fastboot. However I don't have a little Android symbol just the wipe data and USB. I don't have a backup on my computer that I can push through. I flashed CWM recovery through fastboot in hopes of then being able to get into recovery but with no luck. I used transformerprimerecovery.zip followed all the instructions got an "OK" and "finished" on CMD. At the same time the little progress bar on the TF showed that it did something but no change with my condition.
When I'm connected with fastboot it doesn't show up on my computer as I found to be expected. In device manager Android Phone is listed and when I click on it ASUS Android Bootloader Interface shows up stating device is working properly. If I open CMD and type "cd" it just replies C:\users\Josh>. I tried to wipe data to see if it would and it said it did but still no change. I've been reading for the past two days and haven't found the same set of problems yet. I've found similar issues but not all together.
Please if anybody has a suggestion for me I would be most Thankful. I've not had any luck with my searches
Thanks
Lifewithsuzy, try this, it's what I did when I screwed up my tablet, and it's helped a few others.

I haven't been able to try this yet for I seem to be having ADB issues. SDK is updated and current and I have the latest universal driver setup. I show up in device manager but not in the CMD prompt.

I seem to be falling further down the rabbit hole. I mentioned above that I was able to flash CWM recovery via fastboot was not able to access it. I tried the same process with TeamWin recovery. It just stated that the specified path could not be found. So I'm losing features now.

When you are trying to flash anything in adb or in fastboot, put the file in the same folder as those .exe files. Manytimes it is a typing mistake on the path that kills you. Also remember to add the.zip at the end of the file name if applicable.

No luck. I've tried rearranging all the files associated with adb and fastboot I can think of. I've opened the CMD window from about every file as well as from the start menu and I can't get CMD prompt to recognize the tablet. The tablet allows me to get to the point where it states that it is "starting fastboot USB download protocol". Device manager shows Android Phone > ASUS Android Bootloader Interface. And when I remove the device it shows it listed as "fastboot device". I'm stumped on getting into CMD and can't do anything until I do. It just stays on the boot screen until I force it off. And if I'm not holding down the volume up button when I do it, it just recycles on. I've found post regarding the boot screen locked on but everybody has been able to fix it through a properly functioning fastboot/ADB.

The command window should be opened from the same window (folder) you have adb.exe or fastboot.exe in otherwise it isn't going to work unless you have the exact path which is easy to kame a mistake on. I would try the following:
If your not on twrp I would fastboot install it first.
Install universal naked driver
Download and unzip nvflash file
In the folder window where adb.exe is, press and hold shift, and right click and select open command prompt here.
Now do adb devices
You should see you device
put you rom in the same folder and push it to the table
reboot to recovery and install

[Q] Can't ADB sideload b/c computer can't find device

Hi all,
So, I done effed up. I've been running Elegancia with no problems for a while now, and decided off the cuff to try something new. Long story short, I didn't read properly and ended up flashing an International ROM to my phone by accident. No problem, I think, I'll just ADB sideload Elegancia again.
I boot into TWRP recovery and then find that my computer no longer recognizes my phone. So, I hit restore on TWRP, and restore a backup that I'd made beforehand. After everything finishes restoring, I discover to my dismay that the backup did not include my OS.
Now, when I power up my phone, I can boot only into bootloader. When I try to boot into recovery, the phone is stuck on the TeamWin logo and doesn't move. If I turn on the phone without booting into bootloader, I'm stuck on HTC's logo. My primary goal right now is just
In conclusion, I have no idea what to do with the following problems:
1. When booting into bootloader, my computer no longer recognizes my device, so I have trouble flashing TWRP. Basically, my computer searches for an HTC MTP driver, and then fails to find one/install one. When I try to update the driver manually by downloading a MTP driver and then installing via Device Manager, Windows tells me I'm already using the most up-to-date version.
2. When booting into bootloader and then going to Recovery, my phone will boot into teamwin's logo ... and then not move from there.
I'm aware that I've screwed up pretty bad-- I've done my best to read stuff that's relevant, though. I'd love more help, please! Thanks in advance. Lots of invisible cookies coming your way.
[EDIT: It turns out TWRP was just taking a really, really, really long time to load. That said, my problem now is this:
- When going to Advanced -> ADB Sideload, my computer does not recognize my device when using adb devices.
How can I make sure that this actually works? Thanks again!]
[EDIT #2: Okay, um, I don't know why, but for some reason my computer now lists my device after going into sideload from TWRP. Maybe something to do with a reboot of my computer. If that's true, I feel really stupid. Will update if sideload doesn't work ... I think the cosmic gods are laughing at me. I guess all I had to do was post in xda-developers so that I could publicly embarrass myself before I fix my phone.]
[EDIT #3: Everything works and I'm dumb.]

[Q] Prime might be bricked

This happened to me a while ago but I am revisiting the problem now. In the recovery menu, I think I accidentally erased all the portions and that is where I got my problem. If I boot into the tablet, it doesn't go past the Eee pad splash screen. If I try to enter recovery it just gets to entering recovery image and is stuck there and same for fastboot. Is there anyway to fix this by sideloading or something or did I brick my device?

If you can enter the bootloader, the OS, recovery or you have your nvflash backups then you have a chance.
If you can access none of these then you are hard bricked.
Tried Ubuntu Dual Boot: bootloop/brick; but fastboot, apx, and adb access OK
Posting here because: there are varios "bricked" threads - none with exact problem as I find.
I have/had: Asus Transformer Prime tf201, ICS
Bootloader „DE_epad-9.4.2.21-201203023“ A03
Rooted with motochopper
My Problem: Tried to install to Ubuntu Dual Boot using this: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1WfYcgH3FETUAGRbt_aBE5_J21CvTvXunVBdmfcCmtLA/edit?pli=1
after I had seen this video (link from descriptions) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QB9u6OKgop4.
Didn't work out since I could not do this step: "Mount the micro SD-card in Better Terminal on your TF201 by typing this..."
But I continued despite the bad signs!
Then, after using Fastboot to flash the .blob from above → bootloop.
And: no nvflash installed; yes stupid me, I know.
Then tried a lot, searched XDA and Androidforums -can't quite remember all.
Edit: Also tried Urkel's Fresh start.
Only: After trying to flash a stock ASUS ROM via Fastboot I could not even enter the recovery.
(Read later that you should NEVER do this in this state: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514088,
I might even have taken the wrong version to do so.)
Also tried installing a TWRP recovery, but it didn't work.
It doesn't even perform its bootloop anymore, it is simply
stuck on the first screen showing the EEE logo and „device unlocked“.
Then I found http://www.transformerforums.com/fo...nbrick-your-tf201-using-method-hopefully.html
and managed to get to the point where I am now:
Access via Fastboot, ADB and APX (I also have a Win7 64bit partition on my Laptop, but since in ADB the prime doesn't show up I only use Linux 32bit).
Recovery: ClockworkMod Recovery v5.8.2.0 working.
BUT the problem is: error: can't mount /sdcard
Tried formatting via CWMR, it does something (no output) but can't mount /sdcard or /data anyway later.
It seems that I can push file via ADB: did so with a Cyanogenmod.zip to /sdcard, pushed successful,
but since I can't mount via CWMR its useless. After Rebooting the prime no changes.
I wanted to install Ubuntu to learn with it – guess is have learned a lot by bricking my pad...
I really love my prime, we used to cuddle and had a nice time. But now since it doesn't respond properly anymore I feel empty and sad.
Does anybody have a clue how to revive it? Thank you.

Nabi 2 hangs on bootloader

I have searched a lot on google and xda and havn't found an answer to my issue. Either I'm searching for the wrong thing or I have a very unique problem.
My basic problem is on two Nabi 2's I can't access the bootloader in order to be able to fastboot TWRP (or any other recovery). It just perpetually hangs.
Both tablets boot just fine. Both tablets are on 1.9.37. Both tablets can be factory wiped via the stock recovery.
Both tablets were rooted via TWRP 2.3.3.0 a few years ago in order to install gapps. I wanted to be able to upgrade the tablets to JB when it came out so I used Nabilablite to "return to stock". I followed all of the prompts and it appeared as though everything worked as desired. I downloaded the OTA update told it to install and never looked at the version again...I just assumed it installed. Handed the tablets back to the kids and everyone was happy. Apparently all I did was flash the stock recovery because they are still rooted and have gapps after several factory resets.
Now (a year later) I have realized I was a dufas and didn't actually effect the change I wanted.
If I hold Vol+ & Pwr buttons it loads to the recovery/boot menu with "boot normally" "fastboot protocol" "recovery kernal" and "forced recovery". If I boot normal, the tablet works fine but I can't update via OTA.
If I choose fastboot protocol it just hangs...for ever...HOW DO I FIX THIS!?!?!
If I choose recovery kernal it loads the stock recovery but still wont install any update OTA or otherwise, even from the sd card.
If I choose forced recovery nothing happens, it also appears to just hang.
If I hold Vol- & Pwr button the nabi logo flashes then the device turns off.
If I hold Vol+ & Vol- & Pwr buttons it appears to be the same as just Vol+ & Pwr.
With the tablet on and fully booted I can see it via ADB. I tried using the adb restart bootloader. The tablet reboots but then just hangs never actually loading the boot loader...
I found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2587543. But aicjofs mentions seeing a bootloader issue once before.
Usually when it hangs at the Nabi logo it means you don't have the USB cable plugged in or that the fastboot driver is not installed.(Check device manager and see if fastboot driver is installed/no exclimation point). If that's not the issue then it's the bootloader which I have only seen one person have that issue. Depending on which OTA's you have ran there was an update to a Jellybean bootloader so it's possible. That can be fixed with nvflash or placing the bootloader blob in the staging partition.
Also you can always get recovery back without fastboot in Android by dd'ing the recovery over.
For example if the recovery image is on the internal SD
dd if=/data/media/recovery.img of=/dev/block/platform/sdhci-tegra.3/by-name/SOS

I have NO idea what dd'ing the recover over is...
Thank you for any help fixing this.
P.S. I have a 3rd tablet that I also used TWRP 2.3.3.0 on to root and install gapps with. I did NOT use nabilablite on that tablet to return to stock. Yesturday I used fastboot to flash TWRP 2.6(something) to flash a JB OTA update which worked fine. It was also able to download and install every other OTA update all the way to the most recent KK with no problems...

EDIT: OOOPPS. I didn't see this was in the XDA Assist section. I'm not suppose to answer questions(I was just searching for Nabi questions and didn't notice this was XDA assist), dedicated XDAers just point you in the right direction in this section. Please ask the question again in the Nabi2 section and I'l come help you. http://forum.xda-developers.com/nabi-2
This might help answer some questions http://forum.xda-developers.com/nabi-2/general/nabi-information-t3229119
If it just hangs at fastboot protocol then the USB connection isn't good or fastboot driver isn't installed most of the time. Can you verify fastboot shows up in device manager?(I know the 3rd tabet worked OK) .
Nabilabite doesn't do anything that should change the bootloader, and fastboot should still work as it did before.
dd'ing recovery over means that you use the root access you have in Android to flash the recovery partition instead of using fastboot. IT's just another way of getting the TWRP recovery on the tablet.
The stock recovery won't install the OTA because when you added Gapps it changed some fies and the OTA sees those files as invalid and will fail.
Forced recovery always looks blank screen. It's waiting for you to give it a bootloader to run(beyond the scope here).
You should be able to get back on track once you have TWRP loaded. It's one of 3 things. Bad USB connection, fastboot driver not installed right, bootloader damage. Check the first 2 issues despite the fact the 3rd tablet had no such problems.
One of the XDA smart guys fixed my error of posting this in the wrong section.
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate and have installed and re-installed the drivers several times. When the tablet's are fully booted ADB has a good connection and sucessfully sends the command to reboot. So I don't believe there is a driver or USB cable error...
When the tablets hang on the fastboot protocol my computer makes the usb connecting noise but fails to install the drivers...
When I hit forced recovery I hear the unrecognized USB device sound...
These two things make me think I don't have the proper drivers installed...but I don't understand how the driver's work when the tablet is booted but not when trying to access the boot loader.
It appears as though I'm going to have to try the dd method if you are able to point me in that direction please.
EDIT: Now I'm thinking I really DON'T have the fastboot drivers installed. I just plugged the 2nd tablet that hands on the fastboot menu and fastboot failed. I also booted the tablet completly, the adb driver's installed correctly but the fastboot driver's did not...I have installed the 64 bit driver's included with nabilablite. I can't find any actual other downloads. The 15 second ADB installer didn't change anything...

I also booted the tablet completly, the adb driver's installed correctly but the fastboot driver's did not...I have installed the 64 bit driver's included with nabilablite. I can't find any actual other downloads. The 15 second ADB installer didn't change anything...

Uninstall those nablablite and try this one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62826514&postcount=2639

Android stuck in a boot loop after attempted root

Hi there! I'm hoping someone on XDA Developers can help me sort out a root gone-wrong.
I did my best to follow the guide on XDA. I have an Umidigi A9 Pro with 6gb ram. I was successfully able to get the android tools on PC and was able to unlock the bootloader. I went to the Umidigi website to get the ROM. I think I *might* have grabbed the wrong one. Once I got this zip from the Umidigi website, I unzipped the folder and copied the boot.img that was in that root folder to the device. I then went into Magisk and patched the img. I then copied the patched img to my PC then use the commands on the XDA guide to flash the image to the device, the flash was successful (I think). However the device is now stuck in a boot loop. The device displays the Umidigi OEM logo and the android logo; underneath it says in small text:
Orange State
Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted
Your device will boot in 5 seconds
after 5 seconds the screen goes black and then comes back with the same screen. This happens continuously. I have tried holding the volume down, the power button, and several combinations of volume up, down, and power. Holding all buttons down makes the screen stay black, however while plugged into the PC the PC still makes the device connected and disconnected sounds off and on. Whenever I release the buttons, it goes right back to the loop. Windows PC plays the device connected and disconnected sound on and off. The command prompt is not able to affect the device. When I run "adb devices" it doesn't display the phone so it doesn't seem that windows is detecting the device.

I'm hoping for some help on this one
Thank you!
It should be obvious that when being in a bootloop ADB cannot function: On Android side the ADB daemon gets started and after seconds closed, and this over and over again.
In the simplest explanation, a bootloop describes when your phone is stuck in a loop of rebooting. The term "bootloop" is just a more common way of saying "reboot loop."
Curious if you ever managed to get this figured out? I'm in essentially the same situation, though I was not attempting to flash a ROM. I successfully managed to get TWRP 3.5.2 installed and then I was trying to get Magisk installed.
My phone data was wiped, which honestly I didn't care about, however I must have done something wrong with the Magisk installation as now I have the rebooting issue.
I'm able to use ADB and have been trying to push a ROM to the sdcard folder of the internal storage. ADB says the file has successfully completed, but nothing is on the phone. I fixed the issue of the storage showing up as 0MB by changing from EX4 to EX2 and then changed it back to 4.
Really unsure of how to flash a ROM if I can't get the file to pushed to the phones internal memory though.

I honestly haven't messed with it since. It was a very cheap extra android phone I had laying around. Once it got messed up I pretty much just put it in a drawer and said "maybe another day"
