I am having problems with some apps and I was wondering how do I delete the backed up app data from my gmail account. I have searched but cant seem to find an answer.
Settings Application Manager app clear cache clear data is standard reply but i am not 100% sure what you are asking .

When I reinstall a ROM it restores my contacts, Play store apps, app data etc. I want to know where the data is kept so I can delete it. Apollo has stopped downloading artist images. I have flashed different ROMs and it is still the same even after a full wipe and pushing a new rom through ODIN. So frustrating I use Apollo every day.

Its in Google servers somewhere. You can't delete it.
What you can do however, is when you setup the phone after a wipe - untick the option that lets Google restore your settings in the setup wizard.

Ok Cheers I will do it this weekend.
It is bloody annoying that google wont let you get access to your data.
I turn off the option to both restore and backup to Google. Personal preference.

So HTC offers us a way to unlock EVO 3D, but they're forcing full data wipe.
I need to root my phone, but I just don't want to loose a ****load of pretty important information.
Since I can't use titanium backup without root, I need an alternative way.
I already backed up my SMS history, synchronized everything with google account etc.
The only thing left is app data.
Is there a way to back it up? I mean, not only games saves, but pretty much everything that apps store in internal memory.
And another question: I bought really alot of crap on Market, and I'll be able to install it again after full data wipe, right?
I used ...

for temp root, so I could titan backup all data...
Have fun!

All paid apps are saved to your google account so you'll have them for any android device as long as you use the same account.
I'm not sure about backing up...there is an app called mybackup that has a version for non root but not sure what it saves because I use the root version. It owns TB IMO .
I'm Batman..

Oh thank you, good sir, I didn't know about temp root.
A while ago I rooted my phone and I wanted to try out CM. I really liked it but since I installed a RC i thought it drained my battery. So I installed the stable version instead. Before installing the new version I made sure to backup my, at that time, current version and also backup my user data with Titanium (pro version). I made sure to wipe the cache and data and dalvik.
When it was al done I tried to restore my apps with Titanium, but all the data was gone. It doesn't detect any backed up apps. Well then I tried to restore the whole system. But this time CWM didn't detect any backups either... It's really weird, because when I use any file manager I can see the backup. I can access all the data and everything from the file manager but CWM can't detect it.
Does anyone know anything about this? Maybe I can just use file manager to fin the app data I'm looking for and just copy paste? Or is that too old school? . I tried to find Titanium data in the CWM backup but I can't restore any data from it... I don't know how it really works.
Actually it's only a few apps that I need to restore, I don't care about the rest of them.
Thanks!
BTW my CWM-based recovery version is v5.5.0.4 :: CF-v1.3
You've got a really old cwm, that's why. Read general > sticky roll-up > "flashed 4.2? Can't find your /sdcard data?"... this will explain why. Cwm doesnt support "0" (which will make sense once you read the thread).
Also titanium, you need to use preferences > backup folder location > scan entire device whenever you've done a clean install

Thank you! I found the app data. And I also downloaded Rom manager and installed CWM recovery v.6.... Maybe I will need it later on.
And an off topic question. I have the latest CM (10.1.3). It was a while ago I used a rooted device. I noticed that they have added "CyanogenMod Updates" in "About Phone" menu. How does that work? Do I have to clear data, cache and dalvik every time there is an update? Or can I just update without wiping anything? Sorry for the off topic question but I just thought that I might get a quick answer.
Thanks!
It works very badly with android 4.2 /sdcard structure. Recommend avoiding all cyanogen update methods until they sort it out
Get rid of rom manager
Flash philz recovery

Do you mean that I shouldn't use CM or just the Update method they provide? Because i like CM a lot, really satisfied with it.
How do I flash philz and what benefits comes with it?
BTW I'm not looking to install new ROMs very often I just want a very stable google ROM.
Just update cm manually. By that I mean download the zip to sdcard and boot into recovery to flash. The cm update methods aren't designed well.
Philz is an advanced cwm, fixing everything that's wrong with cwm. Read the thread

I just have another question that is off topic. When I use file manager I see that my phone has so many underlying maps:
SD Card--> 0--> 0
In the second 0 map I noticed that I have all my old stuff (pictures, movies etc.) Seems like the new CM version just installed on top of the old. And I wonder is it safe to delete that underlying map? I mean the second 0 map?
Yes so long as you copy the date out first

Hi Folks,
I believe this questions has been asked before and answered but some questions still bugged me.
I deleted some photos which are stored on the Internal Memory of the phone (Yea dumb me forget to switch it to e external storage)
1) I understand from other post that to recover back, i assume i have to root my phone?
2) Will rooting my phone at this point of time cost me to lose my chances of restoring back those deleted photos?
3) Is there a way to recover my photos without rooting & without USB Mass Storage Mode?
Would any kind souls advice me please. :crying:

Is your phone working? Or is it broken? I assume it works fine, so you say you deleted pics? I think there is no way restoring them, if you "deleted" them. What is deleted is deleted, android doesnt have "recycle bin".
And next time please use Q&A section.
EDIT: there might still be hope...did your pics auto sync with google +? Log in and check

To recover deleted files and folders from corrupted or formatted hard disk drive, memory card, SD cards and many more storage device use windows data recovery software. Many data recovery companies offering this types of software. one such program is here which offer free trial version of software, with the help of this trial version you are eligible to see the preview of recover data.
This tool recover almost everything from your storage device.

Re: Photo Recovery from Internal Memory
If you are using Android phone then there is no need to worry. I have tried Remo Recover for Android tool and it retrieved all my deleted photos without any extra effort. You can also try it.

Hello,
I'm happy with my newly rooted S3 running stock 4.3 for the time being, after I've uninstalled a load of old apps but I'm still finding the phone to be somewhat slow (compared to how it used to be)
I plan on removing a load of the bloatware but I'd like to clear all the old data/cache from the phone before I fine tune the setup.
Would the easiest way be to back up my app data with helium and store my contacts/messages elsewhere then do I factory reset within the Android OS?
Or should I use CWM Recovery to wipe my data/factory reset?
Would either of these methods harm my phone considering it is rooted with CWM recovery installed? I don't want to lose root if I can help it, I'd just like to clear out all the old cache files etc and start again fresh on rooted Android 4.3! Whilst I'm having a complete refresh of my internal storage/temp files is there anything else I should wipe/clear using CWM?
Titanium backup is the best option.
Reset from recovery

What exactly would this do/erase? If I use titanium to back up the apps I want to keep as well as contacts/sms etc. How can I use titanium to refresh all my old data/cache that might help speed up my phone again?

Thank you, I'm not sure I worded my question or understood you correctly. I am fine with backing up my apps/data etc that I'd like to save.
I'm just not sure how/what to wipe on my phone? I'd like to clean all my old data/temp files that could be lurking in the phone. Will a factory reset using the Android OS settings menu clean everything possible or is there anything deeper I could wipe using CWM or Titanium?
Thanks
Wipe using recovery. The option is called "wipe data / factory reset".
This wipes everything that needs to be wiped (as explained in my understanding the basics thread).
If you haven't read my thread, you definitely should

Thank you for the info, I have read so much over the last few days that I'm afraid I've probably just skimmed over some of this.
I appreciate the help! I will use recovery to wipe the data/reset. I flashed cwm recovery in order to test out some custom ROM's but I have found that I prefer stock 4.3, or at least I will once I've deleted all the bloatware I don't use.
Is there any reason I shouldn't me running cwm with stock firmware?
Thanks
Cwm is just a bit basic. Philz has much better options whilst still based on cwm

Factory reset from in ROM, setting menu - formats internal SD
I find my pictures are still there. I'll try again in case they are on my sd
