Hello!
Alright, so I thought I'd make a thread for this as I'm not getting much help in other threads.
I have a FIDO xperia U, it has a locked bootloader, and cannot be updated (officially) past GingerBread.
I want to tackle my problems as they come, but so far I've had at least 5. Alas, I am going to start with not being able to flash stock ICS on to this phone.
All drivers for flashtool are installed properly, and the phone is basically dead, it is having a restart loop issue right now but that doesn't really matter for what I'm trying to do.
When I start flashing, I get as far as reconnecting the phone in fastboot mode, here is my log:
24/011/2013 01:11:00 - INFO - Start Flashing
24/011/2013 01:11:00 - INFO - Processing loader
24/011/2013 01:11:00 - INFO - Checking header
24/011/2013 01:11:00 - INFO - Ending flash session
24/011/2013 01:11:00 - ERROR -
24/011/2013 01:11:00 - ERROR - Error flashing. Aborted
24/011/2013 01:11:00 - INFO - Device connected in flash mode
24/011/2013 01:11:03 - INFO - Device disconnected
As you can see the phone connects in flash mode, but then the phone instantly disconnects. Basically when I unplug the phone, it is off, I then hold the vol down button and plug it back in, the phone then says "SONY" and this is where the phone disconnects, it then shows the battery charging icon.
Anyone have any tips?
Answers to questions before they come:
Device has locked bootloader
Device is not rooted
Drivers are installed correctly
Sony Companion is not open or active when the phone gets plugged in
No antivirus is enabled
EDIT: The more I look at what's going on with my phone the more it seems soft-bricked. It has absolutely no connectivity, and is in a bootloop. But still this shouldn't break fastboot, which is where my issue is stemming from.

FASTBOOT is only for unlocked bootloaders.
If you have a locked bootloader then you have to use FLASHMODE or hold volume down button when phone is off.
Please read the first 2 post in the XPERIA RECOVERY thread.
In those post you find step by step help with flashing stock firmware.
The information will be very helpful.
As for the OTHER thread not being much help, well....
To start with your request for help is less than 24 hours old. XDA is a world wide site and you have to give time for members to wake up.
And according to THE XDA RULES, that you just agreed to when you just signed up, duplicate posting is not allowed. Neither is bumping a post before 24 hours has past.
Also you made a "HELP ME" post in a thread for a specific software patch. Not the proper place for a request for help.
I personally answered you and suggested that you use existing threads to get help.
Then another helpful RC member also provided assistance.
I am not sure what you expect from XDA, a development site NOT a customer support site.
You need to learn how to search the forum for existing threads that have already covered this topic.
I have deleted your off-topic posts in the patch thread.
I am also closing this thread.
You need to use the existing help threads for your issue. It has been covered.
Consider this your friendly XDA moderator warning for the violations of the XDA rules.
Any further violations of ANY of the rules will result in the escalation of the XDA Infraction policy.

Hey,
Please read the whole thing before stating "dude, the answer is HERE, learn to search" or related.
I have a Nexus S running 4.0.4. I did the update manually when it was released.
The bootloader is unlocked from previous ROM experiments but this ICS is stock/unrooted.
A few weeks later, the power button now doesn't work. This is a VERY common issue, but no one knows for sure if it is Hardware or Software. I was going to lock my bootloader and send it in to get a fix or replacement device from my carrier. Alternatively, I was going to attempt to flash a ROM onto it and see if the button comes back.
The bizarre thing is that when I go into fastboot, the device freezes and I cannot use any of the buttons. Furthermore, below the device information, nothing else shows up. The device shows up to ADB when booted, but Device Manager doesn't even find an unknown device when in Fastboot.
EDIT: Found this link which seems to be my issues as well, but no answer: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1596085
I'm stuck for now, does anyone have insight?
Thanks

So far, pulling the battery and putting it back in forces a reboot. No buttons required
I suppose if it were a hardware issue, then no, i won't be able to power it back on once turned off.
How else can i relock the boot loader?

Q1: What's the difference between "Development" and "Original Development"?
Here are the rough guidelines as to what should be placed in "Original Development":
*Official release of highly original and upstream custom ROMs (built from the ground up with significant original development within them).
*Official releases/development of such original ROMs, perhaps posted by the maintainer or their nominated person.
*A significant "first" in development for a device. This is something which took considerable time/effort and is generally accepted by developers to be non-trivial.
*Kernels which are built with beneficial changes that are not simply pulled from other kernels already available.
*Tools and utilities with a clear purpose, and which are well-made, and useful to users. They should have an element of originality, either in purpose or through significant improvement in the means of operation.
*Significant port of a ROM from one device to another, giving enhanced features or functionality to the users of the target device.
All other development work goes into "Android Development".
Q2: How do I root my phone?
There are a few different ways you can root your phone. Below are a few threads to help you successfully root your One;
Superboot - Unfortunately, this method will only work if you're lucky enough to have S-Off. This is simply a boot.img that when booted, will root your device once you boot up.
All-In-One Toolkit - If you're looking to root your device the easy way, use this toolkit.
*NOTE* I'll never recommend using a toolkit to root your device because if you don't know how to root your phone manually, you shouldn't be rooting your phone.
Root/Unlock/Recovery/Flashing Custom ROMs - This is the preferred way to root your phone because it actually requires you to read and do the work yourself. Follow the steps exactly as instructed and you'll be rooted and all ready for a custom ROM.
[HOWTO] Unlock, Flash the Recovery and Rooting your HTC One + Fastboot guide - Here is another great guide which will help you to successfully unlock your bootloader, flash a recovery and root your One.
*NOTE* Always be sure to double check everything you read and follow the instructions carefully.
Q3: How can I enter bootloader mode & recovery mode?
To enter bootloader mode make sure your phone is turned off. Turn it back on while holding the 'volume down' button and you will successfully enter bootloader mode.
*NOTE* Before you enter bootloader mode your bootloader must be unlocked. Unlock your bootloader by following the first part of this thread.
To enter recovery mode, you will need to enter the bootloader (as detailed above) then use the 'volume down' button to navigate to 'RECOVERY'. Press the power button to confirm your choice. You'll now be booted into your custom recovery.
Q4: What is the best ROM/kernel/modem?
Honestly, there is no "best". It's all based on personal choice. For example; I may like heavily customizing my ROMs whereas you may like it to look at basic as possible. The best thing you can do is to just test out different ROMs/kernels/modems and see which you prefer.
Also, please don't ask which is the best because your post will likely be deleted as it's against forum rules to ask that question.
Q5: I hear a lot about ADB. What is it?
Find out everything you need to know by reading the following thread - ADB Workshop and Guide for everyone.
Q6: Am I required to backup my ROM before flashing anything else?
No you're not, but it is definitely a good idea because if you don't do a backup and then something goes wrong, it means that you'll lose all your apps, data etc. It just saves a lot of hassle.
Q7: Does this phone have good battery life?
It's impossible to give you a perfect answer because there are so many different aspects which can affect battery life. We all have different apps installed, use our phones for different amounts of time, have different ROMs and kernels installed etc. so we will all experience different results regarding battery life.
Take a look at the Battery Stats Thread to see the usage & average battery life of other forum members.
Q8: This phone is amazing and I want to tell others how good it is.
Woah! Wait a moment. DON'T create a new thread to tell us what you think of the One. Instead, you can post your review in the following thread - Centralization Review of the HTC One
Q9: I'm not sure whether to get the HTC One/what other phones compare to the One?
The only person who can make you want the device is you. If you're not sure whether to get this phone, go to your local phone shop which has stock and have a test run of it for yourself. This will give you a good feel as to whether you'll like the One or not.
As phone comparison threads are not allowed in this forum, as detailed here, if you're not sure what device to get and want to compare between your choices, please use the following thread - Device Suggestion Thread
Q10: When will the One be S-Off?
The One is now S-Off. Check out the 2 following threads to find out how to make your device S-Off - S-Off by revone & S-Off by Moonshine
Q11: I have a custom recovery installed but I can't boot into it.
Use the command - fastboot erase cache.
You should now be able to boot into recovery.
Q12: I'm getting bad audio quality via Bluetooth connections. How can I fix it?
You can sort this out by turning off your WiFi, connecting to the Bluetooth device again and then - if needed - turn WiFi back on again.
Q13: I don't like Blinkfeed. Can I get rid of it?
Yes you can.
Thanks to Onepagebook, we can now remove BlinkFeed by replacing the default prism.apk with a modified version which can be found in his thread here. For installation instructions and all relevant information, check his thread out and then sit back and enjoy not seeing BlinkFeed anymore
As you'll be delving into the /system folder you'll need root access for the above method.
For those of you who aren't rooted, check out the following workarounds -
The only way to get rid of it, at the moment, is to install a custom launcher such as Apex or Nova.
One thing you can do, however, is to change Blinkfeed to a different screen so that it's out of the way and you won't have to see it as soon as you hit the Home button.
To do this;
*On the Blinkfeed screen, click the 3 dot menu button and click Customizer home screen.
*Long press on one of the other screen and drag it to where it says Set As Home.
It's as simple as that!
Q14: AROMA installer has crashed/I can't reboot after AROMA crashed. How can I fix it?
This is not a problem with the ROM you're trying to flash. It's an AROMA problem but luckily there are ways around it so you can get back to happy flashing
Reboot, reflash and instead of using the touchscreen use the volume buttons to navigate and the power button to select an option.
If you're not able to reboot your phone, these solutions should help you do so.
1) Make sure you've held the power button/power button + volume down for around 15-20 seconds and it should replicate a battery pull and reboot your phone.
2) Connect your phone to a PC. Then type the following command into the command windows where ADB is installed - adb reboot recovery
3) Use hasoon2000's All-In-One Toolkit to force flash your recovery (either CWM or TWRP) and it removes the crash.
4) If none of these have worked then, unfortunately, you'll simply need to wait until your battery has ran out and reflash again.
Q15: How can I change the shortcuts on my lockscreen?
It's actually really simple. All you have to do is drag an app icon from your app drawer to your dock (either side of the app drawer icon) and then lock your screen to see that it has also been changed there aswell.

As I have the international variant of the One, I'm not 100% sure if there's any difference between mine and T-Mobile variants except for carrier specific issues.
If there are other differences and therefore some incompatible information in this FAQ, please let me know so I can amend it right away
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I know that your previous post states that you are not sure if the T-Mobile variant has any differences besides possible carrier based issues. however I have realized that there seems to be more in the way of development for the international version. do you think that if I flash a ROM, Kernel or Recovery for the international version it would brick my T-Mobile M7?

Q2: How do I root my phone?
First you need to unlock your bootloader. To do that, go to http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader. On the supported devices list, choose "HTC One Max"
Download the following file to your phone (either directly on your phone or transfer it via your computer) - http://www.mediafire.com/download/v27kh5nkpo3nfum/superuser.zip
Download the latest CWM or TWRP recoveries and flash it by using fastboot commands. (It doesn't matter which recovery you use but I personally recommend TWRP.)
Once you've done that, reboot into recovery (using the combination in the next question) and flash the SuperSU.zip you already downloaded. Once complete, reboot and you'll be rooted.
*NOTE* Always be sure to double check everything you read and follow the instructions carefully.
Q3: How can I enter bootloader mode & recovery mode?

Q11: I have a custom recovery installed but I can't boot into it.
Use the command - fastboot erase cache.
You should now be able to boot into recovery.
Q12: I don't like Blinkfeed. Can I get rid of it?
Yes you can.
If you're using JellyBean 4.3+ with Sense 5.5, you can now natively disable BlinkFeed.
To do so, swipe right from BlinkFeed so that you reach the "traditional" Android homescreen. Long press on the screen and you'll see all the screens at the top. Just above those screens is the option "BlinkFeed On". Clicking that will disable BlinkFeed from your device. To enable it, follow the same instructions.
Q14: I have a T-Mobile/AT&T HTC One. Can I flash the ROMs in this forum?
Yes you can. Any ROM from the One Max forum can be flashed across either of the OEM variants.
As the Sprint variant is a CDMA device, ROMs from this forum may not be compatible with the Sprint variant.
As I currently have no confirmation on this, attempt it at your own risk.

Q16: How can I change the shortcuts on my lockscreen?
It's actually really simple. All you have to do is drag an app icon from your app drawer to your dock (either side of the app drawer icon) and then lock your screen to see that it has also been changed there aswell.

MD5 digests have been widely used in the software world to provide some assurance that a transferred file has arrived intact. For example, file servers often provide a pre-computed MD5 (known as Md5sum) checksum for the files, so that a user can compare the checksum of the downloaded file to it. Enter TWRP recovery mode again and look for the ‘backup and restore’. Select restore and everything should go back to normal in a few minutes. If you choose the ‘Advanced Restore’ option, you can select which component of the backup to restore – like the boot, system, data or cache .... Reboot to system. Your system is now restored and is exactly same as the time when the backup was made.

I've noticed that Google Now opens kind of slowly on this phone. You may start typing in the search bar, then it will reload and the keyboard will disappear, then you'll have to tap twice to get it back. Finally then you can type and search. I'm just wondering if this is the app or is it only on this phone that it does that..
I haven't flashed a ROM, just rooted the odexed stock ROM.
Sorry to sound noobish just wondering if it's possible to flashfire the marshmallow update? since I don't have access to a pc at the moment
Does anyone know where I can get the default lg apps from

Been having some bluetooth issues lately. A device will pair then suddenly music will stop playing through bluetooth and play through speakers instead usually after a few minutes, even though the device and phone are still paired. I have seen this occur with multiple bluetooth devices and across 3 different roms. Any ideas?

I've tried stock, EYG Kernel, and the mods by warbeard_Actual. Same issues with all. Usually the issue shows up after a few weeks of usage in each rom, so I doubt it's hardware failure.
Edit: I've figured out the case. When my data connection drops, my bluetooth seems to flip out too. Which brings me to another issue. I've been having data drops close to every 30 minutes now, sometimes more than that. My family who is also on tmobile are not having these issues, so it's no issue with the towers. Not sure what's causing my data drops.
Running Eliminater74's newest ROM, when I text my GF's stock V10, she tells me I'm double-sending every text message. Any way to fix that?

Have not experienced this issue or seen any other posts about it. Are other people getting double texts from you or just her? Have you tried another messaging app to test and see if that also replicates this issue? I always tell people to use Textra for messaging. Maybe try that or any of the other countless text apps.

Hello to all,
Respected members I have a LG v10 T-Mobile version with MM 6.0 stock version. I bought the phone today only. I have rooted many phones without any issues or trouble. Today when I used the method described in this thread [ http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-v10/development/tool-t3283944 ]. Now the problem is that I followed all the instructions up to the letter & everything was going ok.
I clicked the install.bat file the phone rebooted in download mode then it displayed that welcome to fastboot & there were a few options. On pc it in the CMD window which opened when I clicked install.bat file
which was present in the zip file I downloaded from the post it was displaying that waiting for device for I think may be 2 or 3 minutes. The it closed after 5minutes & I was seeing a black screen with 2 options with fast boot heading on top. The first option is to press the power button for 10 seconds to restart the phone or press fast reboot from adb. The problem is that I clicked both up & down volume keys after keeping the power key pressed for 10 seconds or more but nothing happened. The screen stayed for atleast 40 mimutes. Now the problem is that When I took the battery out of the phone to restart it booted & then after
lg mobile logo it displays that software not Recognize or Recognition failed. Can anyone please tell me what to do or that it is bricked or not. At the moment there is no bootloop or anything else. The phone is still connected to the pc with usb cable & is in firmware update mode. One more thing I wanted to respected members is that can I remove the phone or not. The phone is connected since 3 hours. I am at the moment download original stock firmware for T-Mobile v10 which MM 6.0. Any help or suggestion is greatly appreciated.
The phone booted to main screen & everything works fine. I also did a hard factory reset. It starts now but the only thing is that it displays that Phone software cannot be checked for corruption. It displays this for atleast 7 seconds & then the boots normally. What should I do. Should I flash the stock tmobile MM6.0 again through LG flash tool. PLease any suggestions r greatly appreciated.

Looks like the thread you used was for lollipop rather than Marshmallow? Sounds like you got it booting up now tho, so if you wanna root, jjst make sure to use a guide for rooting Marshmallow 6.0 [emoji106]

I've got a fun one.
I'm not sure what happened exactly, but after failing to install a kernel for 6.0 MM for my V10, I've lost a bunch... But still have a perfectly working phone?
fast charge, Fastboot, ADB... LG Up and LG Bridge don't recognize my phone anymore, and Windows 10 reports it as "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" in the Device Manager.
I've tried multiple PCs, multiple cables, tried it on my Raspberry Pi and MacBook Pro too... No dice.
I still have TWRP working, I've still got my root going, and I do have xposed framework installed...
The heck did I do that I can't seem to undo?! Help!
Can someone please help me? I just got a T-Mobile LG V10 off eBay. It said the phone would just reboot and apps were crashing. His wife was due for a upgrade so she just got a SGS7. Will I got there's phone working I unlocked the bootloader but am still having some trouble flashing TWRP. But my real problem is that the phone has no sound and the mic isn't working. Everything else works great. Even vibration.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thank you!
Any Way Out of Brick?
Hello guys I really need your help please. My LG v10 h901 bricked and it was on Tizen v5 custom rom, prior to that it never gave a problem - not even once.
I just received a call with my phone while driving and after a while? I realize no activity. I check & see that it is stuck on the "your device software can't be checked for corruption"
If I remove the battery, put it back & connect the charger, it charges & shows charge progress.
I can get into the factory reset using hardware keys but I can't get to TWRP.
I removed the sdcard and everything seems to be intact without corruption.
There was this one time it got in for some few minutes then restarted to verification stage.
I can get into download mode but in the device manager I see LGE AndroidNet USB Serial Port, It also shows up as LGE AndroidNet USB Modem. I've tried many things including flashtool, lgup and uppercut to no avail.
It doesn't overheat.
Bootloop or just maybe os/recovery failure??
I've tried everything here and on several websites to no avail. I thought of any modification I made to the phone prior to the problem & realize the evening before the bootloop, I installed "Swipe" & "All in One Gestures" to get full immersive look.
On the swipe, there was a time I got a warning & cos I was driving I believe I selected Ok.
Today, I was doing the same setup on my G3 then the warning came up and I read it carefully & selected cancel. I have a feeling that's my problem (it isn't the expected LG bootloop).
It is still stuck on the verification stage . When I checked on flashtool, I realized is no IMEI.
Tried to use fastboot to flash recovery.img boot.img aboot.img and laf.img I got from the tot I flashed TWRP with but it isn't seeing the phone.
Thanks Guys!!!
NB:
Got fastboot to work, see device and reboot command works but all other commands to erase or write images (boot & recovery) had error FAILED(recovery: unknown command)

I no longer have this device and cannot be much help but i do wish you luck
This was 6 devices ago for me, aside from switching to Samsung devices and now the Google Pixel XL, I have no idea how to fix that issue. Sorry.
Sent from my Pixel XL
Hey all,
I've never rooted a phone before so since I have a spare model, I figured I'd give it a go.
Hearing about this forum, I checked it out and was sent to the Sony site. I understand I needed to unlock the bootloader first, which I did and can confirm I get that alert as my phone starts about it not being safe.
Hint for future readers: don't do this in a virtual environment, I had issues doing this until I used an actual computer and not a VM (mods and folks with more experience: feel free to correct me on this or shed some light). To be clear, I have a separate host running Proxmox (Type I hypervisor) and was able to forward my USB connection to test with ADB and such. I do most things in a virtual environment to not mess up my physical computer.
This was all done last week. Well today, Monday, I decided to continue with my rooting excursion, only to run into the issue I am currently facing.
After many, many Google attempts and following whatever links in this, I finally found this link. Well, I was within a VM, downloaded the linked flashing tool, and ran the first two commands:
- adb devices
- adb reboot bootloader
After doing this, my phone turned off and I wasn't sure what to expect, so I pressed the Power button to see what would happen - nothing. So then I remembered that Friday I was having issues communicating with my mobile phone in the VM to unlock the bootloader in the first place, so I figured I'd try to move it to my physical computer....then I was stuck on a reboot cycle!
To be clear, my issue is that I am stuck on a boot loop. It prompts the error of the device being unsafe, waits 5 seconds, then displays the Sony splash screen. Rinse, wash, repeat; same thing.
I have a Sony Xperia XA1 (G3123) model.
Can anyone shed some light?
Am I screwed?
Please halp!
I dug around a bit more, found this link but the issue is that I cannot boot into anything, at least not that I'm aware of.

Hey @keifus.rahn for following up.
I did find that thread after continued poking, which I am still checking now. And I eventually made a post on there just now discussing my current dilemma.
I downloaded the Flashtool but didn't understand how it worked, nor do I still yet. I tried debugging it and the issue is that the "java -version" call doesn't work within the directory's own structure. I do have java installed on my test Linux VM though.
Past that, I tried with the latest boot.img as well as the recovery.img that I found. I think that the build numbers are off, or maybe I am just not understanding where I am lacking.
You can look at the bottom of the last page for a breakdown of what I did:
