Keep getting the warning for low "phone storage" but it's actually my application storage. From what I understand it's the /data/data "partition." Is there any mod or tool that will work for this phone in particular that can increase (by using other storage, like sd) the size of this partition?
Thanks

Link2SD? Requires a partitioned SD card, though.

Thanks for the reply guys but Im not trying to move my apps to the sd card . Im trying to make the data that the apps download go to the sd card

I don't think you can. The internal storage is mounted to /mnt/sdcard, and apps seem to always put their downloaded data on /mnt/sdcard. Only tip I can give is to move all your music, pics and videos to the external card to make room for the app data.
Or, move game data to the external sd card when you're not using it, then move it back when you want to play that game.

Hey guys I figured out that cyanogen has that option to use internal or external sd for data storage. Is there a stock rom that offers it?
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
No, at least not on any stock based android I've seen. Cyanogenmod was designed to be installed onto the ext sd card. The 'option' it gives is to use the internal, not the other way around. Technical difference, but nonetheless.
I've never seen a stock based 'prom' (that's for you gary) for any phone that had android installed onto the ext sd card.

So when you go to settings-storage it shows 3 different kinds of memories. 1 is external storage, the other one says phone storage 9gb and the other one says internal storage 2gb. what is the difference between the internal storage and the phone storage? Thank you!
I believe one partition is used for apps and such.

Phone storage is the ~10gb free space (internal sdcard)
Internal storage is the space for /data partition such as your apps and app data.

Is there a way to increase the internal storage space and decrease the phone storage? Idk why but it keeps telling me there is no space whenever I try to do some backup/restore stuff, although in the system it shows there is something like 2gb free space of internal storage...

My ROM is corrupt, but i need to access the internal SD so I can remove my TiBu data and pictures, music, etc. Is there ANY way that I can access the internal storage without booting into Android? The CWM does not allow mounting of USB Storage yet.
Your pictures and TiBu shouldn't be effected by wiping your rom.

or worse case just pull out SD card to preserve

He wants the memory of the phone which is called internal sd. Then an sd card is an external sd.

You can do wipes and re-flash roms without erasing the internal storage.

You can create swap partition and mount it with Swapper app from Play Store.
(P.S.: Your kernel has to support swap partitions.)
but i dont want to use sd card....as i have told my inbuilt internal memory is now free...because my phone is treating sd-ext as internal memory....so can i use inbuilt internal memory for swap....?coz it is faster than sd card.

Basically You can't use it, because it's not a linux-swap partition.

Any swap device, internal as well as SD card, will make your virtual memory slower. Using swap, is to buy virtual memory space at the cost of virtual memory speed. Also, in the general case, a Class 10 SD Card is about the same speed as the device's internal NAND storage.
Hey guys, I installed Asphalt and Nfs most wanted, and i was pretty shocked to see that it installed in my internal sd card, it only has 4gb of usable space as it is. Any way i can prevent this, or edit some text and transfer it into my Sd card?
thanks, sid.
