[Q] Having troubles with cm10.1 and4.3 roms - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Hello every one this is my first post but ive been on this forum for awhile im still sort of a noob but im figuring it out after soft bricking my EVO LTE ive sort of got the basics down. I started the venture trying to install the beanstalk rom finally got it working but could not get the sd card to mount for anything so I tried other roms and after noticing a trend I realized that every rom that was cm10.2 and android 4.3 would not mount the sd card so far that is my only problem but its a pretty big one for me. Anyway for awhile I was running the latest 4.2 version of Dirty Unicorn and it was working perfectly until I decided to try the 4.3 version of the rom again, after that fail because of the same problem with the sd card I tried to reflash to the DU 4.2 then the sd card wouldn't mount to that rom either so now im running a basic 10.1 cm rom...I would really LOVE to run 4.3 roms but cant get around the sd card problem is there anyone that can help. Ive heard that being S-OFF would do the trick but my phone is currently 3.17 and there is nothing supporting that right now so I feel like im stuck if some one could help I would greatly appreciate it
Have a good one and thanks for looking

If you want to S-OFF, and are currently S-ON with 3.17.651.4 software/firmware, please join the #moonshiners IRC channel ASAP. beaups has a test build he needs help to get working for the latest OTA. It would be helpful for everyone if someone could assist.

[Q] droid 1 roms

i have done a bit of looking around on running roms on my phone, but just about everything i found is over 8 months old and apps used are no longer available. just looking for direction on updated apps or direction on running roms. i have a rooted droid 1 on version 2.2.1 build frg83d. any help would be great!
Thanks
So just install ROM manager, install the recovery and download a rom like CM 6.1 and flash it. Make sure you backup though. Try looking on youtube. That'll probably help you out more.
Have a Look in the Droid 1 section, yes the phone is old and developement is going slow at the moment
thanks, i did try rom manager but i was having problems yesterday with it. after your replies i tried it today and it is working fine now. thanks for the help.

CWM Recovery Update Epic Fail
Hey people's I'm hoping someone can help me work this one out cos its doing my head in and I'm not real popular at home today... last night I attempted to update my partners CWMR from 5.0.2.8 to 6.0.4.4 on his Huawei Y201 Pro (U8666E-51) unfortunately I kinda failed spectacularly... not only did the new version not take, but afterwards I couldn't get the backup to restore. It got as far as /datadata before erroring out. (Whoops) I have since managed to successfully updated to CMWR 6.0.4.4 and install cyanogen 10, but nothing works right anymore and all his system apps keep force closing, along with parts of the OS is there anything I can do besides buy him a new phone? I have tried everything I can think of, including flashing a stock ROM, but nothing has worked... I would really appreciate any advice... Thanx <3

[Q] Where can i find JB 4.1 stable ROM?

This morning when i woke up i had PA 4.1 on my fassy. Being the masochist that i am, i decided to try to update to 4.2 without reading all the documentation. After bricking my phone i found out that my Class4 SD card isnt recognized by the recovery.
Does anyone know of a place where i can find a stable 4.1 JB ROM? I love PA very much, but right now i am just trying to get my phone back into a working state until i can find a store that sells a class 6 micro sd. Any ROM version would be ok as long as it works. I have thought of using this opportunity to make my own build, but that endeavor caused too much confusion for me in the past so i gave it up.
Im a bit shocked to find that there isnt a sticky with all the past stable android versions listed. Or maybe i just couldnt find it, which would be understandable since my best friend (android) just died. Im freaking out.
I would suggest AOKP found here or find someone who has one of the last CM10 nightlies before they switched to CM10.1

Rom Advice Needed Plz

Morning all,
My daughter is using my sons old Verizon Fascinate,
The phone is rooted and running a very old custom rom, not sure what one it is buts it is real buggy, lots of random reboots, random no rings, random vibrate for no reason, etc
I want to flash a different rom fro here so the phone is usable again until she can get a new phone,
Im a HTC so Im asking all of you Samsung guys for advice.
What is the most stable stable rom I can DL and install for her so the phone works as it should,
stability is more important then anything custom or cutting edge.
I would believe the flashing process is the same for the Sammy's as the HTC
Reboot into recovery
factory reset
wipe everything
flash rom
setup account/phone
dont restore any data
let it settle down for a while
enjoy
?
She is coming over today so I hoping someone see's this this morning and can give me some ideas
Thanks for your input

[Q] Need some guidance

******** First off, let me say, that I'm not sure where to post this, so I'm taking a stab here, but it might be better suited for the "Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE > HTC EVO 4G LTE Android Development" threads, that being said, let me know. ********
Feeling really lost, and could really use a friend *sniff*
I keep running into pitfalls, and I think it's because I just have bad timing. I know that the Evo LTE is getting close to EOL, and a lot of dev's have either moved onto to new hardware, lost interest in this device, or are now playing around with the new 4.3 RUU or KitKat builds for this device....
I've been heavily modded on many of my older devices, but with my Evo lte I've been stock (rooted, but still S-On) for over a year now, and I'm just starting to want to get more out of this device.
I did a ton of Google searches for ROM's and finally homed in on one, Beanstalk (the older 4.3 stable builds), but I'm just running into issues at every turn.
Currently I'm on Viper4G 3.1.7, purely because it saved my ass, when I tried going to Beanstalk while still S-On (whoops).
I'm currently S-Off with moonshine

while I can now get Beanstalk to install, and boot, and GApps (jb-20130813), I CAN NOT get my phone to activate, I spent probably 4 hours and MANY reboots and re-flashes trying to get it to let me activate. I've tried both the "Stable (8/27)" and the "Latest Stable (9/17)" builds, both do the exact same thing.
So, needing a working phone, I'm back on Viper4G, and wondering, what is the best ROM to look at for this device?
I would post in the Beanstalk thread, but the dev has already said
I just don't feel the excitement for this phone anymore. Last Saturday I was ready to give this phone up...

so, I just don't know what ROM I should be looking at, and where to get help on these older ROMs when they have hiccups on install. Can anyone suggest a ROM?
Personally it seems like KitKat needs a little more time in the bakery before I feel ready to put it on my daily use phone.
I even thought about going with the 4.3 RUU right from HTC, but then I started reading all the bugs people where running to, and the fact that you can't downgrade has me worried, and so, like I said about KitKat, I think I just wanted to give that a bit more time as well.
So in a round-about way, I guess I'm asking, what ROM should I be looking at? Is Beanstalk currently the best for this device (I know that's heavily subjective) or is there another ROM I should be looking at that still has active members to bounce issues off of if I run into installation issues?

If s-off you can downgrade via older ruu, viperruu I believe but don't quote me on it. As for me I haven't had any issues on the new update. me personally I'm not a fan of aosp roms. My personal favorite is the 4.3 sense 5.5 from sin and chubbz. I've tried some of the aosp for the new format and those are the ones that I had data problems with. Viper does have a rom for the new layout as well as Yankees. But then again it's all user preference. Personally I would strongly recommend running the new ruu. Captain has a thread listing aosp roms built for the new layout if that is what you are interested in.

Being that you're S-off, it is possible to downgrade after running the 4.3 RUU. Also you can try updating your firmware. I haven't been on any of the older partition layout ROMs for quite a long time but I do recommend running the RUU. You will remain S-off and your bootloader may even remain unlocked. (Mine did) If not, it's not a big deal to unlock it again. Most of the limited development remaining for this device is based around the new partition layout. There is even a new Viper build. Just my ยข2.

Here's a tip for the OP. Flash the rom, then reboot into Android without flashing Gapps. THEN reboot into recovery again and flash Gapps. You won't encounter the Welcome screen, so you'll have to add your account through the settings. The same problem happens to me, no matter which AOSP rom.

You know, I did notice that. I didn't post that permutation of installation steps, but I did find that if I flashed either of the "stable" or "latest stable" builds of beanstalk WITHOUT GApps, I could get around the welcome screen, but I still couldn't place a call. Also I noticed that my PRL version was sky high for what I should have. Currently have 16018, but when I checked it while on Beanstalk it was something like 65002 (if my memory is correct) could this be causing issues too?
I never checked the PRL version whole on AOSP, so I truly couldn't tell you.
