It is very similar in look and feel to the Captivate version (previous phone).
What's in the box?
Mounting Plate backed with 3M tape
Suction cup base arm (identical to Captivate version)
Holder for SGS 2
Cigarette lighter charger
Review: (Updated October 12, 2011)
Audio works through the dock port when enabling it in the Settings [Settings >> Dock Settings >> Enable sound through Dock]
Phone clips in very snug to the holder. Perhaps a little too snug as it's not easy to get the phone out with one hand.
Built in Voice Control is great! "Hi Galaxy" "Text [contact] message 'whoa this is awesome!'"

Did you get it straight from Samsung or from AT&T?
Have the Infuse version, I loved it, but it's not worth the full Samsung price of $40 to me.

Anxiously awaiting pictures and a review, was thinking about getting this myself. I like the fact that it charges, and has a landscape mode which my current cheap plastic cell phone holder that goes on my air vent has neither.

Here is an alternative to the Samsung car mount that you might consider:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/320764561950?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
I have been using this for about a week and am thus far happy with it.
The construction feels a little flimsy but that is by design, I think, since due to its flexibility, it allows for useage with the phone in a case...which was my primary reason for buying it.
It slide locks onto a proprietary disk mount that has adhesive tape on one side for placement on your dash or other flat surface.
One downside is that there is no dedicated audio out connection...you have to use the phone's audio output. But that isn't an issue for me since I connect to my car stereo via bluetooth.
Rotates to landscape and charges the phone through a micro usb connecion at its base

Not weird. People prefer to have the charger cable coming out of the bottom of the phone when in portrait use (usually, the phone is above or at equal level to the charger).
However, they prefer the headphone jack to be at the top, so they don't have to flip the device over when pulling it out of their pocket.
Greetings all,
This phone is a beast and it is a shame that it does not have an official car dock. I am coming from an Atrix and am really used to the ease of snapping it in place and charger/aux cable is already connected to the mounting unit.
Note: I do not have a Bluetooth enabled receiver in the car, nor do I want the HTC or any other Aux => Bluetooth music adapter.
A few questions:
1. Is there an OFFICIAL car dock for another phone that will fit the AT&T Optimus G? (preferably with audio through USB)
2. Anyone know if the IBolt for Galaxy S3 will fit the AT&T Optimus G?
3. I have read the post on the Infuse Car dock, but doe it pass audio through USB? Would it work with Optimus G?
4. If anyone has any other working solution, I would really be thankful if you could share it.
Thanks all!
I'm using the USA Gear vent mount, I've had it for over a year and haven't had any problems with it. You can find it on amazon for $15.00 plus shipping. The mount swivels so you can use your phone in landscape or portrait mode, it's universal too soo you can clip in basically any cellphone.
I use the Samsung Galaxy universal car dock in my avalanche.
I have the body glove case but the dock works great with or without a case.

So I have managed to find an Infuse car dock for $5 dollars. It is not a bad solution for holding the phone, and the charging feature works. The audio does not work however, and you are required to plug the aux cable into the headphone jack.
Optimus G does not fit in the dock by default. You need to take a pair of pliers and bend back the corners a bit.
Can you provide pictures? I am curious how bad/good the fit is. Thanks in advance.

Does anybody know if the audio not working is a hardware or software limitation of our LGOGs? I'm looking for an in-car solution myself, and would much prefer to have audio out through USB, rather than plugging in to the headphone jack as well.

I bought a 20$ one
I got a cradle at Walmart for 20$, its a universal unit and holds phones securely with foam and a back grip. works as expected the only real problem you have to overcome yourself is getting it not to vibrate like crazy when you are idling, though i drive a Jeep so could be a car thing, I guarantee my car is in the top tier of vibrations, i solved mine by taping a small piece of foam or cardboard rolled into a tube and then getting it to sit on top of it, got it positioned exactly how i wanted it. just with i had a bluetooth stereo deck so i could axe the wires.
For a mount, I use the iOttie windshield mount found here --> http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007FHX9OK/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00
My AT&T LGOG fits in the above mount both with and without my case (Candy Skin Cover - http://www.ebay.com/itm/400356840024?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649)
I have a Pioneer FH-P8000BT (http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-FH-P8000BT-Double-Din-Receiver-Bluetooth/dp/B001411BZ2) in my car, and the LGOG connects to it just fine for Bluetooth audio (tested with Google Music, Onecast, Doggcatcher, Songza, Pandora) and works well for telephone features as well. I have a 2008 Scion xD.
I use this mount: Mountek nGroove Universal CD Slot Mount, but instead of using it in the CD slot like it says (which would cover up my deck's screen), I have it in between two panels in my dash off to the side of my Clarion NX409's touch screen. That Clarion deck has bluetooth and it works better with my OG than it did my old GS2. All I have to do is plug in my USB charger if I want to, and I'm all set.
I picked up an Infuse dock last night at an AT&T store... I see a bit of time with a Dremel in my future. And I need to print a sticker to cover the Samsung logo, lol

My Solution
Hey guys, I just got a new LGOG a couple of weeks ago (All stock and not rooted) and have been browsing this forum for ideas. A little background on my previous setup: I have a 2010 Civic and come from a Atrix 4G, plus being a person who spends a lot of time driving for work I loved the dock for the Atrix. I even loved the stock customizable Car Dock Software as well. But a fellow Car traveler turned me on to Car Home Ultra.
Now with the LGOG I wanted a similar setup,
Dock I am using:
Can't post links until 10 posts sorry:
iBolt ProDock - Search Amazon $26
Dock was smaller than I though and the LGOG did not fit until I put on the larger legs. And now it fits with or without my case (See below for my case) Plus I love that I can manage my one cable in the back of the dock. It comes with Air vent mounts, but I need it in the windshield. I will actually take pictures when I arrive a location to check in and having this dock allows full view with the camera. (you will see in the pictures below I have the phone all the way to the left for clearance for the camera) I also bought a left angle micro-b 3ft cable for power since it seems cleaner.
Using this Bluetooth setup my wife used before she go her new phone:
Belkin Bluetooth Car Handsfree - $50
The reason I use this is because it eliminates the 3.5 cable plus Android has always had issues with Notification and the headphones. When on headphones/aux this phone will mute the audiobook I have playing and play a distorted alert through the speaker (Non AUX speaker) then nothing until 4 seconds later my audiobook comes back. (I hate this when a good part of a book comes) I live off alerts and if I mute them I lose work. But when I muted the phone one time, the Notifications worked great, they played through the headphone/AUX and didn't skip music/audiobook. But I missed lot of emails/call when I am not in the car since I forgot to take it off silent.
Case I bought so I can still see the red notification light through the case:
TMax Smoke Checker TPU Case Cover for LG Optimus G E970 - Search amazon $6
It fits nice, not clear but pretty close.
So I also wanted the LGOG to go in Car Dock mode (Launch Car Home Ultra) when put in the dock, so the wife had the small magnets that you can cut and stick on things (Craft magnets I think). And I am still working on the best location but put it in the lower left so now the magnet activates the Car Dock mode automatically. Also the magnet I am using is not powerful enough to activate the car dock with the case on, I am looking for a stronger flat magnet and will install it soon. (See pictures) This dock also has an arm that comes out to hold the phone when in Portrait mode, I use it to perfectly align the phone with the magnet to launch the Car dock. Also without the Car Dock mode the lock screen and phone calls are in portrait mode even if the phone is in landscape. But in Car Dock mode it fixes it.
I could not post pictures but send me message and I will give you Dropbox links.
Sorry for the long post, hope this gets some of you ideas and I wanted to share mine. I know it's not perfect and my setup might cost more than the 5 dollar infuse dock with Dremel, but being on the road I needed something a little more. Thanks for all the ideas, and hopefully my first post here is helpful.
Edit: After typing all this out I just found out I can't post links and no pictures or links to pictures, sorry about that, makes my post pretty useless...
Hey guys, Lets make an official Car dock thread here for the Note 3.
I'm a current vzw Galaxy Nexus owner upgrading the to the Note 3 and tired of zero accessories available,
especially a *good* Car dock.
I really miss quality car docks, The Motorola Droid x car dock was the best ever and I havent seen anything close to it for
any device since. Part of what made it great was its spring loaded arm that popped open and closed, This made putting
phone in the dock was a 1 handed fast and east operation, and the dock didnt move.
Nobody wants to use 2 hands and plug wires in everytime they get into the car. Wireless charging built in would be a HUGE bonus too.
Lets see what starts becoming available and lets check them out here!
Prepare to be disappointed

xProDock is Note 3 compatible..
Thanks for starting a dedicated Note 3 thread. We here at iBOLT will participate and reply as necessary, great if we could have only one major thread for the car-dock category.
This week I am visiting the IFA show here in Berlin and after testing the Note 3 I can confirm that Samsung has not made any changes to the "DockMode" feature. It works perfect with our xProDock and the "DockMode" kicks in so that you can set an app like Dock'n Drive, CarHome Ultra, TuneIn or Slacker Radio as "default" home screen. The sound/music from apps can also come out through the microUSB when in dock mode and go the 3.5 mm aux-out that is included with the xPro.
The handset itself is very nice with the "stitched leather back" as you can see in the pictures. In the picture we have the AMPS plate attached which can be used instead of the suction cup if you want to attach to a vent mount from ProClip, a leather mount from KUDA or any pedestal mount type. The screen on the Note 3 is beautiful so indeed this will be an awesome Navigation device too. Let me know if there's any questions.
I am looking for a Qi car charger/holder. I am wondering if the ones designed for NOTE 2 will work with NOTE 3
http://www.amazon.com/Standard-wire...alaxyNote2/dp/B00EVEHNY2/ref=pd_sim_sbs_cps_1
This is what I've been using with my S3. It shows the Note 2 is compatible, so there's no reason the Note 3 shouldn't work.
http://www.mountek.com/
The iBolt units look like they would do the job but pretty expensive for what I need it for. From my experience with car docks, I've gotten better sound quality by plugging the auxiliary cable directly into the phones auxiliary jack and bypassing the circuitry in the dock. I've tried all of those Car Home apps and don't like them. I want to use my phone the same way I always do while it is docked. Just give me a solid mount without all the bells and whistles and access to my headphone jack and USB charging ports without the circuitry in the dock.

Easy one handed in and out of the dock.

For my Note 2 I got hooked the "iMagnet Cradle-less Magnetic Mount with Quick-snap Technology" blah blah.... stupid long winded name, but the technology, as simple as it is works well. I love being able to pop it on and off with easy (not counting the power connection). I have never had any issues with the phone falling off the magnet. I drive a truck with off road suspension so it is kind of a bumpy ride, but never an issue at all.
The metal strip I have under the battery cover (no adhesive used). I am hoping the fo-leather will not add bulk to it that compromises the secure hold between the metal plate and the magnet.
-
The original Note car holder was the shiii.... Well, it was good:
http://www.expert.fi/getmetafile/91...528e78/GalaxyNote_carkit.aspx?maxsidesize=350
Reasons being:
- Made for the phone. No universal, spring loaded, or anything like that crap. The phone would snap to place and STAY there
- No wirecircus. Just plug the charger and the 3,5mm plug to the holder and you're golden.
- Very rugged suction cup. Never gave me any crap.
- Very rugged positioning screw. Didn't come loose once.
This all is coming from a taxi driver, with a lot of kilometers to show for it. But now I'm changing for the Note 3, so if anyone can hook me up with a similar car holder I'm all ears.
I wouldn't be surprised if the you could add little spacers or padding to most N2 holders and make them work.
Actually on some glock pistols the plastic at the nose was manufactured too close to the slide and the fix was to hold the front end pastic piece in boiling water for a few mintues and adjust it. You could probably do the same thing for the N2 holders and just tweak them a little.

NFC Receiver UPDATE
Well I got really busy after I purchased a third receiver and didn't publish any information until now. Why did I purchase a third receiver? Well it was because of NFC. The second receiver is still the best with charging, but this one is a close second. I could not get NFC to work with the second receiver. This one will work through most cases.

OK, thanks for clarifying!
awesome video, I was looking at that receiver as well, have had good experience with that brand yipin or yieneng on m s4.
the biggest quest for me is does it bulge? the s4 there was a spot where the chips would fit in the notch for the microsd, but I dont see a notch on the note 3 so I wonder if they designed it to fit in some kind of recessed area?
Thanks in advance.
See the 3 pins where you connect the wireless receiver:
Top one is +5v.
Second one is Ground.
Thrid one is for S-View Cover (+) - (in case you wonder that the heck is that for)
In the event that you have a S-view Cover, you just have to use second as a common ground between the receiver and the S cover.

This receiver is pretty thin in everyway, as with all receiver, you will get the bulge, but you will not really notice it, would you rather have a receiver that has no bulge that does not work well or a receiver that has a slight bulge and does what you expect.
Can you still fit a case on with this installed? I have a hard case sedio with a kick stand and do not want to give it up.
Added this video. It should cover the thickness, couple of cases, Google Orb charger, charge rates, and NFC usage.

you can enable s view functions as explained in my video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqzDf-CDLT8 i bought the cheapest case and receiver and works fine.
am using the same in my car with my qi enabled car charger holder https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTNAPp2UkkI
have a newer one with NFC pins but not had time to do a video, will try to do one later tonight, think it should be the thinnest till date and charges fine at home.
getting the official one in a few days too and will review it when i get it. ordered a second official one from clove uk. my original order for the official one made in early october from mobilefun hit the wall from the scamsters at mobilefun. was repeatedly getting emails saying delivery delayed and whether i will accept alternate product (please note no mention of refund in any email), then a week or so ago saw on their website that it was in stock but still didnt get delivery and got another email saying further delays and saw on website that it was sold out!!!. so sent them email to send it or give refund after cancelling order. they replied with email saying order cancelled and that was nearly 2 weeks ago and yet to get refund. so have raised a claim at paypal and those scumbags havent yet responded to paypal claim and 8 days now since i have escalated this to a claim at paypal and mobilefun havent yet bothered to reply to my paypal claim. if dont get my refund will escalate it to fraud complaint with my credit card issuer against mobilefun. paid via credit card via paypal to mobilefun website in early october. just mentioning this here so that other people dont get scammed like i have been at mobilefun.

Thanks for your videos. I love wireless charging but on the note 3 it's been a bittersweet scenario...got the oem samsung charging back but there are no cases that fit that (at least that I've found) so I'm stuck choosing between a case and wireless at the moment. Your thread has given me some hope though about the possibility of using the original back with an insert that actually works and still be able to fit a case.
One question - does the phone with insert in & case on "rock" when it's on a flat surface? For example, when you have it flat on a desk/table/etc and you hit the home button on the note - does it "rock" toward you and then back after lifting your finger? This is so annoying to me and I wake the device with the home key a lot at work...it'd probably be a deal-breaker for me, but if you can share your insight I might avoid another bit of money wasted.
Thanks!
What is everyone running for their Note 3s? (since many standard docks dont fit our larger, aka perfect sized, phones
Thanks

I've ordered one of these, but it hasn't arrived from Korea yet:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/141179770720
I'm very much hoping that this (which I also ordered, already received, and works great so I'll probably be getting another one for my desk) will fit into it, and I'm pretty sure it will:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F6SPYJS/
If not, I'll just order the official LG charger to fit in the dock. It's not much more expensive.
Also, check out the Car Dock Thread. There is some discussion of wireless docks in there:

I did a diy a while back (couldn't justify spending 50+ on one) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2537590
Still working perfectly to this date.

Has anyone tried Zerolemon extended battery for Galaxy Note 3? Is it good?
iBolt qi wireless charging dock build
Here's my build post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49542102&postcount=224
This is a copy of the post I did for the same topic when I had a Nexus 4 about 9 months back. I also used this setup for my Galaxy S4 and now I'm using it for my Note 3.
I just finished installing my Smart Fit2 (model TCD-C800P). There are plenty of pictures of it and a link to order on the thread for LG WCP-300, but I mounted it on a different base. It was designed to hold the WCP-300 Qi charger, but works fine just as a mount with no charger, and is inexpensive. I paid $19.95 including shipping and I think it's a few bucks less right now.
The base I used is a 17mm ball adapter on a PanaVise vehicle specific mount that fastens to the dash frame behind the radio trim. That part took about 10 minutes to install and used the existing radio screws/holes. The metal bracket fits without any noticeable gap in the trim. I picked this method to keep the phone in easy reach, out of the windshield, and as a bonus it's where I can aim an air vent at it if the charger starts to warm the phone up too much.
If you want to do this in your car you can save from 5 to 10 dollars by looking up your dash bracket on the PanaVise web site, then order it through Amazon.
The WCP-300 charger is $40 from a Verizon store or from their web site, shipping is free.
Not only did the pictures disappear, but when I COPIED the original post the XDA app evidently deleted the entire original post, and the app won't let me insert a new picture, I think they want me to buy the premium app.
Just use your imagination.

Granted it has been 6 weeks or so since I looked, but back in October or November the supply of the SmartFit2 dried up. They went from >$20 to <$100. Great concept, but the dock has been unavailable.
UPDATE: Just Googled this, and I guess a supply must have been located in Korea. Available on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=LG+WCP-300+Smart+Fit2&_sop=15
There is a great youtube video on how to use the inexpensive koolpuck in place of the more expensive one from LG: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTNAPp2UkkI
In the end it makes a nice clean wireless charging car dock.
this was my take on in-car wireless charging...

Ebay was where I found the Smart Fit dock, and mine finally arrived from Korea a couple of days ago (it took just under 3 weeks to reach me here in the US). The Power Bot charger I bought ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F6SPYJS ) fits perfectly, and it was clearly designed to do so. The dock seems pretty sturdy and holds the phone securely. The Note's size makes it a little awkward to reach the release button, but I've almost gotten the hang of releasing the phone with one hand without dropping it.
Incidentally, that charger appears to be a generic model sold under a number of names, including Power Bot, MuchBuy, DigiYes, and Koolpuck. The unit and packaging look to be identical, whichever name it is sold under. I haven't had any problems with it and now that mine is installed in my car, I'll be buying another one for my desk.
