Maybe from terminal emulator, you must root your phone,in terminal emulator type "su" and give it root rights then type reboot oem-unlock.I dont know this will work...

Tried the "su" thing here... normal reboot

would be awesome
yeah wish I could do that, unlocking BL is so much, I only rooted mine.

Root does not equal unlocked bootloader. Read the important information in every thread before you attempt to use what they post. Else, you wind up looking like an idiot, like you do now. Now if you want to do nandroid, follow the link in the post above and unlock your bootloader.

Can I unlock my bootloader, after my phone was rooted ? Or should I unroot it, unlock the bootloader and than root it again ?
Rooting your phone, and unlocking bootloader are 2 different things.
Rooting is for your ROM, while unlocking bootloader is for your phone...

[Q] What ADB was used to unlock the bootloader?

Hello everyone, as we all know several people have/had problems unlocking the bootloader @dicxz80 might be on to something here.
Please share what Android Debug Bridge version you used to unlock (or tried to unlock) the bootloader with.
I used Android Debug Bridge version 1.0.31
If you don't know how to check, it's easy. Just go to your adb location (with cmd) and type
Code:
adb version
Hopefully this will give us some more information.
I noticed most of the adb(s) I got from L9 forums have "Android Debug Bridge version 1.0.29"
I'm not sure if the ADB version a made difference, but it's worth checking.
Oh and my P769 is unlocked
Specific adb builds do not allow for adb root.... type adb root and see what it says

Right, and this has to do with . . .?
I'm just wondering if the adb version played a role in successfully unlocking the bootloader.
Thanks for the info though.
CM 10.1 P769
Just pointing out differences in various builds. It could be possible that the unlock command needs to be passed in adb shell with su acces on some versions. I don't think its likely though possible.

How to tell if i unlocked my bootloader on lg p769

I received a warranty exchange and it came with 20f preinstalled so i did adb reboot oem-unlock. How can i tell if my BL is unlocked? No root
Get into software upgrade mode. Turn the phone off. Plug the phone into your computer, and hold volume up and down (might be another combination like volume up and home. Keep trying.)
If the bootloader is unlocked, it should say Bootloader unlocked on the top left of the screen. If not, it will say nothing.
Or just dial 3845#*769# and scroll all the way down, hit bootloader unlock check then click the button, too easy

Yeah it does, just type it in and scroll down then you hit the bootloader and you will be able ti see if your bootloader is unlocked or not. It won't unlock the bootloader but you can see if its locked or not.

No, that does not work (well on some roms, with the proper u-boot it will). The best way to check is putting phone in s/w upgrade mode. If it's unlocked (and on a V20F, V20H or a unlockable jellybean U-boot) it will say Unlocked Bootloader.

Q: bootloader relock(769)

So I unlocked it for the 769..flashed cm sucessfully
...then went to stock with flashing a kdz. Seems boot loader is relocked on stock but I read somewhere its only temporary, can't remember where..so how do I unlock it again? Without the whole kdz 20b europe process again.. I know its locked cause I got security error when flashing recovery/ROM..got it back with fastboot
Also hidden menu says locked...
However sw upgrade mode still says boot loader status unlocked..

I envy you so much, why in the world would you go through all of that simply to relock?

Hi matthewstice, I think that your bootloader is only apparently locked, you need JB roms (or at least load JB u-boot and x-loader with fastboot)... , I'm not sure, but I read something about it here, just don't remember the link.
Cheers. Good luck.

[Q] Which step here unlocked bootloader? Or did it unlock bootloader?

Reading a few articles here on XDA and a few outside about the general process of rooting and unlocking bootloader, here are a few things I have learnt (question is below) -
Usual steps to root -
1) Unlock bootloader or bypass bootloader.
2) Install a "Custom Recovery". Eg : CWM, TWRP.
3) Push(or copy) a binary file "su" to the "root" of the device using this "Custom Recovery".
For the Nexus, HTC and Sony devices, the first step (unlocking the bootloader) can usually be found on the website of the OEM itself.
It involves using "adb" and "fastboot" executables provided by Google.
BUT Samsung does NOT have this procedure.
Instead, MOST rooting procedures I have seen, use ODIN.
And the first steps are -
1) Boot to "Download mode"
2) Install "Custom Recovery" through ODIN.
So what EXACTLY is happening to the bootloader?
Does ODIN unlock the bootloader in Samsung devices?
OR is it just bypassed to install a Custom Recovery?
I hope this is a valid question!
And sorry for using all the quotation marks. I just wanted to highlight a few things and HTML tags for bold and italics are not working for me for some strange reason.
I love wrongly used quotation marks, some great websites for that!
With rooting every device is different and most Samsung devices do not need to have their bootloader unlocked. Its not better or worse just different. It's all about how the oem writes the firmware, Samsung just often doesn't have this, which also is why those same devices don't allow for fastboot commands, not written into the code
If you are asking how to root your device I would need more specifics on what it is but just know that unlocking the bootloader is not always a prerequisite.

I recently rooted my SGH-I577 and flashed CM11 on it.
Thanks to InkSlinger420!
In the process, I wanted to get a general idea of what is going on instead of only following the steps.
So I guess my Samsung phone is rooted but the bootloader is NOT unlocked?
And sorry for the quotation marks again.
I can't get the options on the top of the edit text message box to work. Like Bold, Italics, attach, hyperlink etc etc...
They're just thumbnails
The smilies on the side too...
Off topic, but help?
Wasnt picking on you by the way, just saying how fun it is to read sites like this
http://www.unnecessaryquotes.com
But to answer your question, you device doesn't have a step to unlock the bootloader in the rooting guide because it isn't needed. In a sense it is unlocked. The reason other devices need you to unlock the bootloader before root is there isn't another exploit to bypass the security checks done by the bootloader (and sometimes radio) so in order to root one of these often the first step is to unlock the bootloader.
Your bootloader doesn't run these same checks and so there is no need, again not necessarily better or worse, just different

Gave me a laugh, that website! I'll refrain from using quotes.
Thanks!
Have a better understanding of the root process now! (I think)
