Hi, is there an easy way to reverse the soft-keys?
Such as have the back button on the right instead of the left?
I could easily use this phone with 1 hand (right hand) but the only thing that is annoying is that i cannot reach the back button with my thumb causing me to have to use my other hand just to press back.

You can use Pie Control from Play Store. I use that for one handed operations.
Or you can also use LMT

hmm, thanks.
the pie launcher looks cool but i need root to use the back function :/
it seems to ridiculous that you cannot customize the bottom keys. they are software keys! the whole point of them should be that you can change them.
why am i forced to use the back button on the left....

i want to root it but i paid for the 2 year warranty and feel like rooting it just voids the warranty i paid for
unless i am wrong on that?

You can always remove root if something happens to it and you want to use the warranty. It takes no more than 15 seconds to remove it. Also, i believe this is what you're looking for. Root is of course required since you're making changes to the system.
UDN looks really good, options are nice, but unfortunately it can't be set to always be on top like the standard nav bar
Yeah, i noticed that too. Bummer.

I've looked around but haven't seen anything current on this.
Is there a way to remove th Emergency Call button from the Lockscreens?(pattern, pin)
From what I understand it is a widget and I tried to remove it rendering my phone not able to pass boot up. That was horrible.
So any info on this would be great.
p.s. for GingerTazz
no ideas on how to get this button out of there?
No, not unless there are replacement pattern/pin lockscreen apps, similar to WidgetLocker is a replacement lockscreen, but it doesn't appear to have pattern/pin capabilities.
There's got to be a way to just go into the apk and remove one or two lines of code to make it not appear. I know that's hacky leaving the unneeded code in there, but I don't care I really hate the button.
Anyone know what apk it is?
Probably so hard to remove because the FCC mandates that all phones even ones that aren't activated have to be able to make emergency calls.

How much time do you spend looking at your lock screen anyway?
+1 for this:

It's not the amount of time I spend looking at it, but rather the number of times I have to look at it. Every time I take my phone from my pocket and swipe my pattern or enter my pin I see it, which is . . . a lot.

ROFL! Very well worded and to the point!
I'd even be a little more happy if the emergency button was incorporated into the pin pad like THIS
Rather than THIS

I really love it. I haven't used the stylus much. Nice to have though.
Totally used to the size after 5 days (from a reading and UX perspective). I picked up my wife's iphone yesterday, and it seemed comically small. Don't think I could ever go smaller again. Though physically, its still very large - my thumb tends to cramp when I hold it for an extended period.
My main complaints:
★Still a bunch of permanent Bloatware (no way to root yet without updating the bios counter, right?)
★I use the capacitive buttons on the bottom, but would much prefer there to be onscreen gestures for back, search and properties. (Are there? What do the international note users do without these buttons?)
★The phone is also so big that it's a pain to reach up around the side to power up. I would much prefer to have a physical button on the bottom.
★at&t bastards stripped out the FM radio (!)
1) yes you can
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1505062
2) You can find apps that allow gestures like that.
3) can't help you there
4) I GUARANTEE this will be added by devs

You can root without triggering the counter: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1505062
The international note still has the menu and back capacitive buttons. The search feature is usually pretty easy to find in each app without using the capacitive button.

But have the confirmed we even have the hardware? I heard the Galaxy S II had the hardware removed in the US version. So if that is the case, FM radio wouldn't be possible

2) Can you suggest an app?
4) Cannot be done though the capability is there within the chip it has been disabled. This has been confirm by various FM Radio app dev's. They say that its disabled at a hardware level as the SkyRocket was.

wow, can't believe that. Good thing I don't use FM radio on my phone, but that's pretty dumb.
I'll see which apps are the best for gestures.

There are gestures for back, home, and menu when using the S-PEN.
i just got a samsung galaxy proclaim. All i want is an app that can make the 4 soft touch buttons on the bottom of the phone be light up whenever the screen is lit up. The phone is for my dad, who cant see the best, and he can never see the buttons when they are not lit. I am very tech inclined and have rooted my thunderbolt and modded the hell out of it and flashed roms all the time last year. I really can not find anything out there app wise, and there is not other option other than holding your finger over the light sensor on the front of the phone.
I dont think an app like this would be hard, but I dont know how to make apps. I will pay for it as well.
feel free to email me at [email protected] if you want to discuss how much this would cost.
the phone is not rooted, but i could root it if that is necessary. would rather not as i see it presenting new possibilities for problems for a VERY beginner user just learning what texting means.
thank you all

Can you tell me the name of this app, because its no more at the link you provided.
Folks,
I am a proud owner of the One. Although sexy, the IR/Lock button is crazy to reach. If we wear a case, forget it! It's very out of the way. I've come up with a solution on my own, though it costed some money. But it is only a temporary fix / enhancement. I am currently using wave control to unlock the phone's screen. Unfortunately it relies on the sensor, so it does take time to register most movements. Very unhandy in the dark.
How are you guys going about with unlocking the phone?
Custom kernel with sweep to wake or volume buttons to wake
Physically open up the phone
Pry off the current physical lock button
Solder on a new button and place that button wherever you want! That's what I did but the button doesn't work so I can't unlock the phone.

A really easy way to do this is to install android revolution from mike. Link is up top...paste button is stubborn...
Ha! Won't be welding any time soon.
I found out that CleanRom 2.0 actually has wake lock through volume buttons. Some one mentioned above about it being in a kernel. I did a dirty flash, maybe that's why it did not work properly in the first place. Cleared it up!
Folks without any custom roms will have the same issue, though. Please continue on the discussion about any alternative solutions!

Awesome
Sorry people I got no idea what is the perfect verb to put. As you know the power button should be emerging from the phone, but as I chat a lot and close the phone between messages and stuff it became.. "bent" in?
I cant really put pictures at the moment as I have no camera, but the point is, I can't use the phone properly now.. Sometimes when I try to put the phone to sleep it restarts, or pops up the "power menu" (Reboot, power off..etc) . And sometimes when I am using it the backlights just start flashing and bam, the phone reboots alone.. more terribely it sometimes just becomes stuck in a boot loop due to power button restarting the phone over and over again lol ?
So the question isnt really software but hardware, I tried the pin that you use to bring out the sim slot to try and push the power button out, but well.. It doesnt fit. Anyone got any idea what to do ?
Take the cover off and reposition the button.

Seems like there wont be any other way other than opening the cover. Guess I will just send it to a local shop to reposition.. Shouldn't cost much..
An advice for others, use the swipe2wake if you can lol ..
Is there a tool similar to the IOS's accessibility tool? You know that little box that you press on and you can choose the "Home button" or "Sleep" ..etc?

Found a recent one, Floating Toucher.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2355373
Its quite similar, maybe not the best RAM optimized, its a bit laggy but should do the trick. For those interested, have fun. and support the developer.
For those who don't know what I am talking about its called "Assistive touch" on the IOS.
Best of luck, thanks Lloir
