Couldn't find any TWRP but i found a CWM one.

Well, I already know of this tutorial and also tried it once. But i couldn't use rom manager with this device, as the device would get stuck in recovery if I used rom manager. Moreover, there are some features in TWRP I would like to try out and its interface is better. Not saying that CWM is not good, but I would like to try out TWRP. Thanks, though....

Sorry!!

Where Download?

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I need to install only a recovery, because a custom rom brings ROOT. I'll use ODIN, where I can find recoverys in tar format, because the one I have, is the site of ClockworkMod and is in zip.
Thanks to all.

why do you need a recovery if you are not going to install custom roms. You already have the stock recovery to whatever you are going to do

Lol, you must know that CWM is integrated into the kernel, so if you need CWM you must install a custom kernel(insecure kernel) having CWM, and all custom kernels are made to enable rooting, trying to push CWM into stock kernel(secure kernel) is pretty dangerous and you might brick your phone, and stock has its on recovery mode which you can use. Anyway before performing any wipe or factory reset check whether if you have super brick bug if you are running ICS 4.0.4, and stupid question or not try including more details about your phone.

I thank people who write helpful posts, so i expect the same.

Ok.
Before anything thanks.
I want to install a CUSTOM ROM, like cyanogem, slim bean, etc. So your idea is install a kernel, but I can install recovery and then custom rom, right?
And this insecure kernel, can you give me the link to download?
Thanks.
P.S. - My SII have Gingerbread 2.3.5. original, I don't have touch in nothing.

I suggest you to update your phone to official ICS before flashing an insecure kernel

galaxy player 4.0 CWM?

I can't seem to find a straight answer on how to get CWM on my player. I sort of retired my SGP 4.0 USA version from main use and want to use it for testing roms and stuff. I see all kinds of things on how to root however I installed a pre rooted stock rom on my player however I go into recovery and it says android system recovery. Is this like CWM or will I need to get cwm somewhere else. If someone could please clear all this up for my I would be very greatful
Recovery is not separate in this device, it is part of the main ROM. So your recovery will change based on whatever ROM you are running. This is typical of most Samsung devices.

So how would I install a custom rom on this device coming from a stock rooted rom? Like if I wanted to try CM 10 or 11?
All tutorials I have come across assume already having CWM

Odin/heimdall will install the boot image with recovery embedded. I don't really have more details as it's been ages since mine saw stock. Perhaps you can read up on it or someone else can help.

No just use Odin for the kernel, which includes the recovery. Then boot into recovery and do the install. Note that the cm11 kernel surely won't boot stock so you must go straight into recovery.

[Q] Install Philz cwm6 on I9100G

Hii!!
I hope I am not making an error by posting here, I am a little new to here so be king please
I just want to install Philz CMW6 on my I9100G so I can install a kitkat custom ROM; I have been facing problems with this, I tried many ROMs ( CM11 unofficial, SuperNexus, SlimRom, OmniROM .. ) but I failed everytime, I realized that my CWM was not suitable. So I started looking for it I found a good thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2201860 after installing the CWM it goes right installing ROMs but got stuck into bootloop.
So, if someone can give me the .tar.md5 file I can flash using Odin or maybe another thing to take care of.
Thank you
PS: I had CM 10.2
Running official stock ROM : JB 4.1.2

Try this steps:
1. Use the method in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2365701) to flash JB stock + root. note that it's better to flash the kernel via recovery after it's on your external sd-card or sideload with adb. This way you don't get the triangle warning and no binary count.
2. Download the kitkat compatible CWM from here: (http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/GalaxyS2/recovery/CWM-KitKatCompatible-i9100.zip)
3. Flash the CWM and reboot to recovery (advanced -> reboot recovery)
4. Flash your Kitkat rom (with all the necessary wipes of course )

I tried this but I got stuck on boot again, and knowing that the CWM that you gived don't work :/ ( my model is I9100G I think that this is the reason ).
I have read somewhere that maybe the wipe data / factory reset is the source of problem. I am not sure where I am doing wrong
thanks

How to Get a custom Recovey on i9100

I used to have an i9100 before and heavily tweaked it. I have a Nexus now and it is so much easier than S2 and I forgot everything. Now, my brother is got an i9100 and I would like to know how to get a custom recovery on it. I don't need root, just a custom recovery like TWRP or CWM will do.
Can someone link me how to install CWM or TWRP on this i9100? I want to install a KitKat ROM on it, such as Carbon ROM. I searched and searched but the instructions are for 4.0.4 only. Thanks

Did you get Custom Recovery with out root before? I think it is not possible cos I9100 and other do not use recovery partitions. Never ever. CWM is on same partition what kernel is. Its mixed up together. When you flash root you will have Custom Recovery

Cant boot into Recovery with CM12.1

Hello,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100p with CM12.1-20151023-NIGHTLY-i9100
I was recently on CM11 with CWM 6.0.4.3 recovery and everything worked as it should but since upgrading to CM12.1 I have been unable to boot in CWM recovery, it just takes me into the stock recovery. I've tried reflashing the CWM img but it has no effect.
Is this version of CWM not compatible with Lollipop? Can anyone tell me a version that will work?
I would also like to try TWRP but unsure which image to use, can anyone recommend one?
Thanks
Steven

The recovery is bundled with the kernel in the S2. CM12.1 has CM recovery by default. The only way you can have a different recovery is to flash a compatible custom kernel. You could try the TWRP kernel from at the beginning of the CM12.1 thread or Dorimanx kernel that gsstudios builds
Thanks, where is the CM12.1 thread, I'm not sure which one you're referring to?
