I believe it works only for incremental updates. There is a thread here on XDA, where someone has done it from R6 to R6a (i think) on the Xperia Tab S. So should be the same, only problem is only US has incremental updates??? Maybe...

I had the latest rom installed from here and now there is an update from verizon that fails to install(Phone rooted). What should I do or is there a newer build availble to us rooted users?
You would have to un-root, update, and then re-root. That is the fastest way.
You are getting an update from vzw for your s4?

How would I un root? And no, it is on a S3.
There was some mention of an upcoming update in this thread:

Just checked myself and don't see any new Software updates.

Your questions would be better asked in the S3 forum, then.
I would not take any updates. Verizon and Att are surely going to block loki and you could be stuck without a root method.

I just got a system update notice on my LG G2. When I went to the support page, it is "unavailable".

Has anyone applied this update?
Do not accept it. Its to patch the root exploit. They did the same to the gs4

If you took the update can you try the one click root in dev. Interested in seeing if it still works.

yea, we won't really know if this is a root exploit patch until someone takes the hit.
Its been confirmed by multiple people that the update does not address root or loki.

Shocking!!! The pitchforks and burning torches that have been raised will have to wait for another day, I suppose.

Yes...it doesn't patch root. If you are rooted and do not have a custom recovery installed. You can accept the update and it does nothing. If you have TWRP installed, you need to flash the stock recovery, accept the update and then flash back to TWRP after.

I haven't rooted and I could download and apply the OTA fine, so it would appear that rooting prevents OTA!
