Hi,
this is my first thread in this forum.
First of all, sorry for my english but i'm italian.
Windows 8.1 don't recognize my Xperia P in fastboot or in ADB mode.
At the moment i have Honami 5.5 and Nemesis Kernel with CWM.. but, i can't flash anything with fastboot or with SonyUpdateService.
There is any solutions for this problem?
I just try the virtual machine with windows 7, but this solution doesn't work!

I don't have USB 3 on my laptop. With Windows 8, first, i was able to flash my Xperia. But now, the only solution was to install in a second partition on my HDD Windows 7, and flash with this OS.
Another time, sorry for my terrible english
win 8.1 is not win 8! It has a newer USB stack, and there are no solution for flashmode/ fastboot on it... yet

Hi,
i'm trying to flash kernel to my st15i under win8.1.
Application and drivers are installed corectly, but after connecting phone in fastboot mode there is a message:
"USB device not recognized"
Under win7 there was no problem (the same procedures, the same PC, the same phone, flashtool 0.9.11.0)

Windows 8 has new type of security, that disallows installing unsigned drivers. Thereby fastboot drivers are not installed.
Follow this guide to install fastboot drivers: http://flashtool.net/disabledrivers.html

I'm affraid that your guide helps in win8 not 8.1, where there is no problem with installing drivers. Drivers are installed without any problems like in win8. Problem appears while you try to connect phone in fastboot mode.

Same applies. Drivers are not installed, otherwise it would detect your device.

Yes, you are right, something is wrong.
But drivers are installed correctly, becouse of lack problem during installation, and final windows info.
It seems that win 8.1 must have new flashtool/fastboot drivers.

Because you have win8.
In 8.1 there isn't active option "Driver signature enforcement" - there is no need to disable it.
.. and "PC settings" are different - this manual doesn't fit.

I seriously doubt, that 8.1 does not have such option.
I will try to look further into that, will update once I find anything.

I've tried this manual, uninstalled/installed few times flashtool/flashtool drivers - nothing changed... please help
This is weird, I am running out of ideas.
One of the last possibilities is that the drivers are not compatible with RC version of 8.1.
i also have the same issue..the pc doesnt recognise the device in fastboot or flashboot mode..
as for my idea, 8.1 is just a preview version..
i have 8.1 installed in pc and 7 in laptop.
so better work in 7 pal.
whenever i need to flash i use 7..
i think there is no solves for this issue..it has to be fixed by microsoft i think..
better you ask the questions to the windows support pages, genius people are waiting out there to help you..
anyways.. cheers!!
I have installed Walkman Experience Elite ROM (4.0.4) and it shows kernel 3.0.8.
The problem is, I can not get into fastboot!
I turn it off, hold Vol+Up and plug in USB, but the blue LED appears only for a couple seconds, then goes off and the phone just continues charging.
I installed Android SDK stuff and I couldnt use it to fastboot CM10 boot.img. I tried Flashtool, AND I installed the drivers.
(Note in case it matters (don't think so): at first I downloaded fastboot drivers alone and installed, but after installing Flashtool those may have been newer drivers, I tried to install them too but it said I already have)
Even after installing the drivers my Xperia U showed no signs of working fastboot, and PC still couldn't recognize it in fastboot.
I had problems installing the drivers, as I found out - because of Windows 8.1, but I got through that.
Another question: Does Xperia U change from ST25a to ST25i depending on kernel/ROM or something? (I have ST25a)
Please help!
I tried to follow this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2447283
But at step 8 it doesn't recognize it as S1 fastboot device.

Problem comes from drivers...
If you have only USB 2.0 (and not USB 3.0) on your computer, FlashTool no longer works with Windows 8.1 and no solftware solution yet :crying:
Otherwise, return to Seven or Win8 or purchase USB 3.0 card...
Sorry...

Fastboot doesn't work anymore on Windows 8.1, I solved this problem installing Ubuntu on a partition and flashing kernels with this Os.

No need to spam. There is no known working solution at the moment for Windows 8.1. Use another PC with older Windows or use Linux OS.
And don't make multiple topics. One is enough.
is your USB ports are 3.0? if yes, so its a bug from Windows 8/8.1, caused by bad USB kernel. ofcourse by Microsoft, i'd figured this problem too some time ago

Hi, I need help with my Xperia Go since my power button has stopped working and I used to turn on my device via fastboot with flashtool on windows 7 32bit. Now I have Windows 8.1 64bit and I can't even install fastboot drivers. I get error when installing them:
Google, inc. (WinUSB) AndroidUsbDeviceClass (12/06/2010 4.0.0000.00000).
Thanks.
Edit: Ok, I got fastboot drivers installed somehow, now I cant see my device in flashtool. When I boot my xperia to fastboot, it stays there only few secs.
Are you using USB 2 or 3 ports?
Someone posted working drivers for USB 3 on windows 8.1 running on Intel chipset, search the forum.

disable driver signature enforcement in windows then install drivers using the package given in flashtool or u can install SUS as it installs fastboot drivers by itself. But before anything it is recommended you ,uninstall the drivers which you have currently
sorry cannot post guide as per xda rules
So, apparently Windows XP (in my case) sees my device as "Android" while it's booted in fastboot mode. Device manager says "Device not configurated properly" .
LG 's (and Google's) drivers are installed.
P.S.: Please don't ask me to change OS on my PC because I can't.

Sorry, don't have any XP machine left.
But i would bet on the USB drivers.
Nothing else can trick the device manager.
I would try to uninstall all android related USB drivers and only install the original LG ones.
This is to avoid the wrong drive to catch the device first.
Fastboot works flawless on my side, on two pc's.
One with Win 8, one with Win 8.1 and Ubuntu Linux (on both OS)

Broken dtb.img in kernel / recovery or by zero-ing out laf partition (dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/laf
By doing so, the phone can't enter Download mode.
