I've just bought a great Bluetooth Speaker to use with my Nexus 4 and it works great. Because it was fairly cheap I went and got another in the hopes that I could connect both speakers to my N4 and output audio simultaneously to both speakers at the same time. I quickly discovered this isn't currently "working" or even possible.
After a lot of Googling, I found an app on the Play store that supposedly let me connect both at the same time but it doesn't output audio to both speakers (I get "static" from the second one). There are also conflicting opinions about whether this is even possible with the current Bluetooth spec although it does mention multicast support and all I could find are various workarounds that involved using a secondary bluetooth transmitter etc.
So can anyone tell me if there is any software/hack (root needed or otherwise) that would allow configuring audio to be streamed/output to two connected bluetooth speakers simultaneously? Others have suggested it for use with bluetooth headsets. It seems if someone could hack/crack this it would be very useful to a lot of people. Maybe even a good idea for someone with the knowledge for a paid-for app. Any ideas? Would really appreciate some feedback on this - even if it's not actually possible - some technical explanation would be great.
Thanks!
I am also interested in this and the possibility of a Bluetooth hack.
Any luck?
Just wondering if you found any solution for this? I also wants to use multiple bluetooth speakers simultaneously with Android phone...
I would definitely pay for this ability
I'm not sure if it's possible with bluetooth, but if someone could make it happen I would definitely be willing to part with some money for that app/ability.

I'm going to try combining two devices from amazon and see if I can send bluetooth audio from my phone to 2 separate (and different models) TDK bluetooth speakers. I will let you know what I discover once they arrive.
First Device:
Monoprice 109722 Bluetooth Transmitter and Splitter http://amzn.com/B00AJHAYCS
According to the description and reviews this device can transmit a bluetooth signal to 2 devices simultaneously. Amazon says this takes 2-4 weeks to ship, so it will be a little before I get to test this out. If it does work it's still a pain because I'll have this hanging from the bottom of my phone. That's why I'm also going to try combining this device with another bluetooth device.
Second Device:
Mpow® Portable Bluetooth 3.0 Audio Music Streaming Receiver http://amzn.com/B008AGQMQC
My plan is to try pairing this with my phone, and then plugging the Monoprice Splitter into the output on this receiver. I'm expecting some loss of sound quality with all these connections, but as long as it isn't too bad the freedom to walk around with my phone might be worth it.
I'm not sure why a single device that merges the capabilities of these two devices into a single body and shared battery hasn't been created. Through all my searching online I feel like such a device would be well received.

no ****. as long as bluetooth has been around, you would think that they would have fixed this by now. what is the use of having a wireless connection that only can connect to one thing at a time. it's beyond moronic, it's submoronic. who wants to listen to one speaker at a time, when throughout history, we have always used at least two speakers, and many times more. you would think even the idiots who make bluetooth speakers, would at least have the ability to hardwire another speaker to the one which is using bluetooth. i have never been more disappointed in a technology than i am with bluetooth.

The reason why bluetooth doesn't support Multicast is because it doesn't have the bandwith to support High Quality streaming simultaneously no would the chips really having the processing power but that could be fixed, but the main limitation is the lack of available bandwith specified in the 802.11 standard for bluetooth.
However future successors to bluetooth will likely have support for Multicast streaming such as 802.15.3a which is being co-developed by Intel, Sony, Philips, Texas Instruments, Samsung. Though the bad news is, it won't be to market for probably another 2-3 years :/

UPDATE: I have received and tested both of these products from amazon. Good news and bad news. Good news, both of these devices work well on their own and do what they are advertised to do. I'm particularly impressed with the Monoprice 109722 Bluetooth Transmitter and Splitter http://amzn.com/B00AJHAYCS. When plugged into the headphone jack of my phone or tablet it sends audio to two different bluetooth speakers simultaneously and the audio is synced very well (not perfect, but for the price it's very good). The bad news, when combined (to create a true wireless system) a decent amount of distortion is introduced which is not heard when using each of these products by themselves. I'm not sure if it's interference from the different bluetooth connections, because the physical connections seem to work fine when used separately. It sounds like you're listening to FM radio where the station isn't quite tuned in right, just some static along with the music. It's not horrible, but it's no where near the quality that you get from a typical bluetooth connection. I might try using another stereo cable between these two devices and see if adding more space between them helps at all. I'm open to any other suggestions. This is close to be a solution for now, but not quite. If you don't mind having the Monoprice dongle hanging from you phone or tablet, the sound quality coming from both speakers is very good.
Hi folks...has there been any progress on this subject?
I am thinking about setting up a whole house, always listening, google now / voice command network using a couple of bluetooth speakerphones and an older android phone. The more speakerphones I can spread around the house the more coverage I would have.

Hi,
I am looking for a bluetooth stereo headset. Where can i find one
which is good sound output , reliable and long batt life. I want to be able
to listen to mp3's and calls thru my XDAIIs.
Any ideas?

Wow, a bit pricey. Do you have 1st hand experience with this device? The reason that I am asking is that tha xda II / III's have traditionally had bad bluetooth reception. Before I dish out 300 bucks I would want to make sure that it did not suffer from the same bluetooth static that the headsets are having with the xda's.

I tried many bluetooth stereo headset, and wasted hell of money on trying many of them, considering the bad bluetooth reception of the PDA2K, the best bluetooth stereo headseat works with it is motorola HS820 it works well within the range of 1 to 1.5 meters from the PDA2K.
"6 talking hours - 100 hours stand by".
I'm still waiting for the up-grade which was promissed to be developed to improve the performance of PDA2K's bluetooth reception.

Don't worry, I talked with the live chat on iMates site and they asured me that the bluetooth issue would be resoved soon.
Now that was 6 months ago and 2 ROM updates, I am still holding my breath....
The Motorola HS820 isn't a STEREO bluetooth headset, but I agree that it's one of the better regular bluetooth headsets for the phone. I also bought the Motorola HS850, which is the update to the 820. The bluetooth performance was definitely better than the 820's performance but I ended up giving it back anyway because the volume is too low for me.

don't buy this product. http://www.blueant.com.au/. I called up the guy to enquiry this product. AT first, they did not include HP IPAQ 6365 in the list of compatibility. After I talked to him, they claimed it was working properly but they did not money into their mouth so the next day, they included as part of the list of compatibilty.
second, the guy also told me that it did not include a dongle which can support A2P2 therefore it will not work for HP IPAQ 6365 as it did not have A2P2 software hence it will not answer phone call and listen to MPEQ music in stereo manner.

The Motorola HS820's volume is not low for me, but I do receive some complains "sometimes" from the other parties saying that my voice is low and they ask me to raise my voice, but some other times it works fine.
Hold on....
Are you guys talking about headset or handsfree?
So far I understand hs-850 is a handsfree bluetooth (not a headset bluetooth).
Correct me if I am wrong.

They waiting for me at home, (I'm currently in the US) so I will let you know next week.
Well I'm listening to The Killers over HQ A2DP stereo
I had to use the BT hack stack here to get it working.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=15671&highlight=stereo+headset
I have paired the handsfree profile as well. The problem is however the handsfree is not working very. Also the pause and stop buttons don't work with WMP10.
Will post updates if I get any other stuff working.
I just got the Zonet ZUB8100 from Newegg -- only $120 after rebate (which ended yesterday). Works very well as stereo headpnones with my SX66, not so well as a voice headset. You can connect the BA to it in both A2DP and handsfree profiles simultaneously, so it should be possible to answer the phone while listening to music. No caller ID, AFAICT -- well for $120 you can't expect perfection
There's no mic boom, so the mic is in the left earpiece, a bit too far from your mouth. That in combination with the standard headset issues with the BA results in quite a bit of static and the person on the other end barely able to hear you.
Well guys, I dont recommend the Sonorix or infact any BT Stereo headset unless you like pain.
They are a peice of crap.. wasted $150 dollars Sad
Sound is muddy and they not very comfortable. (Granted I'm used to my Sennheiser HD500's). Not to mention it takes ages of fiddling to get A2DP working and then it doesnt work well.
I think Bluetooth is a waste of time. When Bluetooth2 comes out and is properly supported i might give it a second chance.
In the meantime I'm going to use these instead:
http://www.seidio.com/index_products_pda2k_headset.htm
I bought the Motorola HT 820. Works pretty good for answering phone and stereo music on sx66 after some bluetooth updating and adding profile. Not too comfy but tolerable for $89--took a couple of weeks to arrive.
Haven't used them for prolonged periods but they work for a couple of hours at a time.
looking for a stereo receiver to connect to my hifi at home....
something like :
http://www.sony.co.uk/product/acc-bluetooth-stereo-adapters/hws-bta2w
or
http://www.scosche.com/products/sfID1/217/sfID2//sfID3//productID/537
bells and whistles are not importsnt only the quality of sound.
anybody used these devices? or that can recomend a better receiver?
I've used both, and Sony is unthinkably better. Its not perfect as it doesn't support really high bandwith A2DP without clipping, but nothing really does... (in fact of all the a2dp accesories that I've tried, only one set of headphones have, Logitech Freepulse 2). The Scosche adapter is complete garbage. I tried two of them thinking that I just got a defective one, boy was I wrong. It outputs poor quality, and after maybe 20 min (if you're lucky) all you get is static, and then you have to turn the unit off and turn it back on. After that you'll maybe get 5 min until the static kicks in. If you want to use it for longer than 5min, you have to let it sit until it cools down. I bought my first one on eBay, and tried out the second unit from Best Buy. At the end of the day, I returned the Best Buy one, and just threw out the eBay one. I couldn't risk my ebay seller reputation (re)selling garbage like that.
Thanks Sonus,
i will mainly be plugging this into a motorbike intercom so although i want as high quality as possible its by no means audiophile grade
stated home use as i want the ability to power externaly
the alternative is the unit made by the intercom manufacturer and thats £75 and mono!
so before i go and grab one of the Sony's from Fleabay.... any other suggestions?
the Motorola DC800 is another that i have been looking at
As far as recievers, no other suggestions. I haven't used the Moto DC800, so I can't comment. Just be aware that the Sony only does A2DP, no HSF or HSP at all. So if you need those features...
I too was planning to use the Sony both in my car and at home. In the end, I ended up only using it at home. And it works really well there! My phone calls don't get picked up on my home stereo system, which is a plus to me. And the Sony can do both input and output over A2DP, so I sometimes use it to stream from either my phone or laptop, and at other times, I use it to stream the TV or radio to my A2DP headphones. As for car usage, the Sony has no internal battery, and the car charger must be ordered from Sony. Besides that, a dedicated car piece has the advantage of having a remote control. In my car, I installed the iO Play adapter.
thats actually great news
i want the phone going to the other reciever so this one will be for audio only so the lack of HSP HFP is great, should make configuration easier.
does the Sony come on automaticly when you plug it in? or do you have to press the button... i hope it will come on itself as it will be tucked under the seat (not impossible to get at and switch on but it would be a bonus if i didnt have to)
iO Play adaptor?? any more info?
Unfortunately, the Sony doesn't turn on automatically when you plug into a power source.
I posted some pics of my io play setup over here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408977. But that won't work for your motorcycle as it requires some serious re-wiring to be able to work w/o a car stereo attached to it.

im trying to play my music on my g1 through the audio in my car. i have a 2006 corrolla, and it doesnt have any mp3 port or whatever. doesnt have anything actually its very basic, just has the radio and the cd player.
from what i know, theres only one way to do this, and thats to use those fm transmitter things to play it over the radio. but ive heard these things suck and the quality is bad and sometimes you cant even find a good frequency so it doesnt work. but i said eh ill try it myself, so...
i'd like some advice and opinions and what you guys think is the best, most reliable, and best quality fm transmitter.
more than anything i'd like it from people that actually have these things or have used them. thanks!
I got one from ebay and it works, but adding weight to the lower usb connection does tend to cause problems. First I had to take the rubber nub off to make it easier to take in and out. But even still the connection was loose enough to unplug while driving, over bumps etc. End of story, it works, but just enough (if you find a decent station).
Pull out the the player and look at the back. If you have a mode control or aux key on the front of the unit then you will usually have a way to connect it the real way. They will have a left and right channel (white and red plugs), then buy an adapter l/r -> 3.5mm, and use the stock adapter or buy the htc breakout box which is what I have to charge and play.
can you please provide me with some links or pictures of what you just explained? cause i had already done lots of research, but none of it made it look as simple as you just did lol
btw, do you have the same car?
oh yeah and pm me please cause i cant always be checking the forums i get too busy. thanks!!
i have the motorola t505 on mi car and it works fine its not perfect but close if u wanna give it a try

Go buy a bluetooth enabled car stereo, that's what I did.
I've been using an FM transmitter for a couple of years now as I have the same issue with my car (Stock headunit which I can't be bothered to replace). I'm using a Kensington FM transmitter (Looks like this one http://www.anttiussa.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/kensington.jpg) and it works very well, I just have the three buttons assigned to frequencies that are mostly unused, if my signal starts to drop I just switch to another frequency on it and the radio. It's not perfect, hence why it's necessary to switch frequency when travelling through areas with stations active.
To be honest, I find local driving fine using only one frequency. Cheaper than replacing a headunit . I've used about 3 in total, some have been utter crap (High pitch squeals when plugged into the car) but this ones done me well .

please list your model along with any pros / cons you have for it
If you go with a FM transmitter and have problems finding a clear frequency, try removing your antenna if it is easy to do. On my car - a 2001 prius - the ant just screws in. I remove it if I want to listen to my mp3s and screw it back on for radio listening. Very strong or very close stations can still be a problem, tho - And don't play with the antenna while driving, of course *S*
Forget FM transmitters - the quality will suck, it will add bulk to the phone and you won't be able to charge your phone while you're driving (which you will need to do if you are listening to music for over an hour!).
Bluetooth car stereos are really quite cheap. I have a Mutant MT2200BT, and you can now get the MT2300BT for less than £80. Its well worth it - I use it with spotify on my way to work every day... I basically have access to unlimited music in my car - hassle free! Make sure the ROM you are using has BT working (i.e. Dwang).

If you're concern is sound quality Bluetooth is going to stomp on your dynamic range as well. Wired is the only way to get the best sound quality your phone can produce.

I agree... but you will nonetheless be pleasantly surprised by the quality you can get through A2DP (BT Stereo). And it is really straightfroward to setup and use!
I'm thinking of the same thing. There are several ways.
1.Cheap : Buy a cheap car audio with usb port and use your phone as a USB Thumb drive - make sure the audio recognizes the device before you buy it.
60-70$
2. Cheaper - go to a local car audio repair shop and ask them to add AUZ input by 3,5 mm jack - it can be done, don't listem to them lazy bastards. Buy a HTC 3,5 mm connector and you are done. Costs about 40-50$
3. Normal - buy a motorola ot jabra Bluetooth - to - FM transmitter - search for stereo bluetooth fm transmitter on the web... they are about 100$
4. Expensive = 200$ - Buy a Sony A2DP car system. Make sure it supports A2DP and test it out in the store.
or you can go the route that i did with my silverado and ipod. iSimple makes a media gateway box. it plugs directly into your factory stero with a new harness and gives you 3 options. ipod input, rca input, or 3.5mm input. all can be controlled from the stock radio controls and it charges all "i" models. i use it with my hugeeeee old ipod video for trips here and there and then i use the 3.5mm or rca input with my g1 so i can use pandora.
you can pick it up at best buy and let them install it or you can do it. put it this way, if you can root a dream, you can plug in the new harness, seriously thats all it takes. from start to finish the job took me 35 minutes...
Ok, so I have already done my searches on here and tried finding users of the TF that are using Bluetooth audio receivers and had no luck. I was wondering if anyone on here has been able to stream music from their tablet to their stereo and if so what are you using and what is the best range you have gotten out of the product.
I will be streaming music from about 30 feet away with a direct line of site.
Any help would be great seeing as I have not had any luck here on the forum finding someone that shares my common interest in Bluetooth for the TF.
Any help would be great! Thanks in advance!

Nothing?!?!?!
Hello,
I hope I can help you, even if I'm quite new in this tablet stuff...
I just got my TF101 and one of the first things to do was to use my AudioPro RadioOne as speaker by Bluetooth.
I just simply activated BT in the Transformer, searched for visible BT to couple with it and once found, I entered the code given in the radio's manual. Immediately the sound switched to the radios speakers (and was cut from Transformer whilw I used the radio). The sound is as good as it can be and much better than with a cable.
I could go on listening being ~10m (30ft, I guess) away in an other room with the Transformer.
The Transformer works easily on BT, you might need to find out your receivers configuration and code, normally given in the owners manual.
Hope this helps you a little bit =)
P.S. Sorry for my English...
receiver
I got one of these for my phone but havent tried with the tablet yet.... My phone and table pair, and my phone pairs with this, i assume it would pair with the receiver no problemo!
http://www.cellpower.com/products/NoiseHush-N550-Stereo-Bluetooth-and-3.5mm-Audio-Jack.html
gives you a nice 3.5 jack to use so its pretty versitile.
30 ft is pushing it though....i think that is right around bluetooth's limit.
One drawback to the product above is that you cant use whil charging
(Note: I am in no way associated with the site selling the above product, just happened to find they had the best price!)
I just ordered the Belkin BT. I will let you know how that goes.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
For very good noiseless audio and MUCH further transmission than bluetooth, I use Audio Engine W1. The only thing it does require USB power. Should work with dock but I haven't gotten it to work yet; need straight power only pins out. A battery powered USB port should work. (plugged in to USB power) worked great at a presentation I did this past weekend.
Bluetooth should be straight forward. I use some sony bluetooth headphones that work great.
I'm still looking for a quality solution for using your own headphones. Bluetooth is not good enough really. Ideally I would like a usb transmitter and a wireless reciever I can plug my headphones into and can run for around 6 hours. Q-Bean-ST is the only thing I have found but they look like junk and the battery life is a bit crap.
This thing has been working well for both the phone and the tablet but I have only really used it for about 10 feet or so. Quality is good enough for me (admittedly not an audiophile, just streaming during parties and such). http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0038MA11U
Reviews of the belkin "plug in" model have said people have used it when the transmitting device all over the house.

Ideally I would like a usb transmitter and a wireless reciever I can plug my headphones into and can run for around 6 hours. Q-Bean-ST is the only thing I have found but they look like junk and the battery life is a bit crap.

Youre barking up the wrong tree. Bluetooth is "good enough." Where it isnt people are running audio to $400 IEMs and no wireless solution would be satisfactory. So, using that logic nobody develops it.
Maybe I just had a bad experience using a SE HBH-DS970. It constantly drops out and cannot go more than a few feet from the transmitter.
A lot of it has to do with the transmitter. My phone, for instance, seems to only get about 10 feet with line of site. The laptop can be in other rooms no problem. The TF, I just tested it, can only go one room over, once you get a few walls in the way it cuts out occasionaly.
This is all using the thumb sized receiver posted above, the amazon reviews make it sound like the powered belkin model has better range but I never pulled the trigger because if I am using it I am either in the car or in the living room having it play over the sound system attached to my dish/bd player/tv so I am no more than a dozen feet away at any given time.
I use the Voiis bluetooth audio receiver, works great! Good audio quality.
Well, the Nokia AD42W works great with my Transformer to listen to anything through my stereo. I got it very cheap in a local shop, it's possible that the product is discontinued...
Of course, there's the problem of delay. You have to forgive the lack of lip-sync when playing through BT, but it's a bit annoying at times. Audio quality is great, of course not as good as a direct connection.
I have tried it with my Sony system, lg tv, Samsung tv and Sony tv, b-tube speaker,
All worked fine,
Do have a slight issue with the Sony,
I can stream music through bt to the tv once paired,
But to send a picture to the tv I have to un-paire first
I use a Kenwood KDC-BT945U with an A2DP profile and it works great.

This one works for me great. I use it on my stereo and in the car.
Was using it to stream my phone music but not i use it with the Transformer....no probs

So this bluetooth should work fine with eee Transformer, right?
Bluetooth headset should be used as audio device and also as chat device.
I have a stereo one, and it works fine as music listening but microphone doesn't work even if in the parameters it is recognized as phone and audio. we have to say that integrated microphone is so good that it is not necessary to to link to another one (joke)
2 days searching and no fix for that integrated microphone quality problem. the only solution is a (f...) wired headset.
In my bmw, I have a cable that I used to plug my iPhone in and was able to charge/play my music thru the interface. Since I switched over to SGS2 (love it btw), I haven't been able to find a suitable replacement for this cable. Is there anything like this for the SGS2, or am I out of luck?
Thanks

I use the car dock that is made for the phone by Samsung.
Best Solution:
Get a new car. My 2010 Mazda M3 has Bluetooth in it so all I had to do is buy a new car charger and connected it to Bluetooth. That's for your best experience though.
Less than the best solution:
Buy a Samsung Car dock, hope you have an AUX port or get an FM transmitter! It's a lot of work to have this done right, clean and everything. But it works! You can find most of the parts on amazon for really cheap. But i hope your car stereo has an Aux port or Bluetooth cuz if not you are kinda gonna be screwed into buying a new one. I don't know of any that support connecting through usb on any other phone than the iPhone or a standard flash drive with just MP3s on it.
Yea, my car has an AUX port, so I will just go buy the dock. Thanks for all your help
Hopefully another item like this takes off. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/401662159/pair-with-pear-bluetooth-to-your-speakers-dock Not trying to advertise, but this looks like it's exactly what you need. Unfortunately it doesn't exist yet... Unless another company makes one that I don't know about.
I highly recommend the Bluetooth Gateway by Motorola that turns your aux-in into an A2DP stereo like these fancy new cars.
A brief guide in the beginning of a little review I wrote here.
Takes a little DIY to get it set up out of the way, but once you do, it's a fantastic, under-$50 solution to get A2DP like the new $20k cars
Bt-35 bfhak
Has anyone used either of these devices: BT-35 or BFHAK
They have them for different makes of cars. just wanting to know how well they work.
I have a Jeep with the bluetooth touchscreen. I just play mine through BT, even though the sound quality isnt the greatest.

I have the same, wonder why the quality suks
I just use a simple cable from my headphone jack to my aux in jack. I do wish it was able to display stuff like track info and album art, but hey, first world problems I guess. Poweramp does the job.
I think it's because bt audio only streams at 96 kbs.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
I don't know why you're having problems, but my bluetooth audio sounds heavenly using the gateway that I referenced in my earlier post.
And by the way, this 2003 spec sheet lists a top bit rate of 345 kb/s on Bluetooth 1.0. I don't know where you got your number.
BT streaming is worse than wired because you've got your phone/player transceiver encoding, and then the external receiver decoding your music. You can have all the bandwidth in the world but you'd still be limited by the quality of your transmitting and receiving hardware's digital audio capabilities.
I have one of these, it works very well. I've used FM tuners before and they all come in static-y. This one comes in perfectly, can charge your phone, has audio IN, and can be used as a hands free phone. Pretty nifty.
