How to repartition and gain more space for apps? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I've been trying to repartition my i777 since yesterday using my own .pit file which I got through Heimdall, I edited it so the internal partition will have more space for apps but it keeps getting an error when I try to flash it. Anyone has a .pit file pre-edited or can help me with the issue?

[Q] Does Odin re-partition format the Rom space?

I don't know what will format the Rom space and what will only replace system files.
1, Will Odin re-partition format the Rom space?
2, Will 512pit format the Rom?
When should we use 512pit and When should we check re-partition?
I only know, if we only update rom, do not check re-partition but need to use 512pit.
no one knows? A big question for me...
i'm interested in this as well, but i don't know the answer.

[Q] /sdcard unaccessible

Good day! This is my first post and don't flame me because i really tried to search
for a solution before posting; either i just didn't look enough or i could'nt understand the solutions.
SO, here's my problem:
I cannot access /sdcard.
I came from CM9 nightly and i know what i did wrong. I mistakenly removed my usb cable when my phone was still in usb mass storage mode. That's the only thing i thought i did wrong.
On ES File explorer i get "SD card empty, unmounted or not present" when accessing /sdcard
So what i did is to return to stock firmware, hard reset, did a factory reset of the internal storage... and thought all is good. IT AIN'T.
What the factory reset did was make a folder /emmc and put the internal storage data there.
I can assume that the /sdcard folder may be corrupted and inaccessible.
I found/thought of some solutions:
1.) Rerouting /emmc as /sdcard like in this thread
Swap the mounting points on ICS (CM9) for emmc and sdcard
2.) Reflashing stock firmware again with PIT file (I haven't done this before, is it that scary? ) Can someone explain what the difference of flashing with or without PIT? And also how can i flash a pit file when the firmware i downloaded has only 1 file (what firmware should i download then?)? Also, should i backup /efs before flashing PIT?
How do I know I am using a correct PIT file?
Any ideas what i should do?
format the sd card cheerz

And that's why phones get bricked you would need to read and learn before flashing stuff .
Do not use PIT file is the recommendation for SGS2 as their is far higher chance of hard bricking a phone .
EFS should be backed up on day one .

Did you flash also the .pit file inside the package, right?
Now re-flash the ROM: CSC, CODE & MODEM but ATTENTION! DON'T FLASH THIS .PIT u1_02_20120326_emmc_EXT4_8GB.pit!!!
Instead flash this one: View attachment Recommended_.pit.zip

yes i flashed that pit.. but im now on gingerbread la4 one package file but still the same problem of not writing or copying to/from mmc . i think formatting the system and restarting the phone is causing the problem.??
If you flashed the .pit file in the latest leak then im afraid youre done for, i cant think of any solution because eventually if you keep flashing and wiping youre gonna brick out.
Needs a samsung service to fix this me thinks, why did you flash the pit???, its not aan i9100 official pit, the official is 16gb, NOBODY else flash this pit file please.

is it anyway caused by formatting the system and automatic reboot after putting the battery in or is it because of the wrong pit file.?? and if it is because of pit file can i reflash the lq5 firmware with the default pit..
i managed to get my memory card back to 11gb i flashed an old gingerbread firmware kh3 with pit file ..and back to 11 gb and now i can copy and write without any error.

SGS2 - Pit file for odin

Hello all
Can you give me a download to a pit file for odin (my device running stock 4.1.2)?
Does this pit file would fix my phone? (im in kind of a brick)
Thanks
Hi
What have you done before the brick? If it is a MMC Erase Brick because a Wipe Factory Reset in a suceptible kernel, maybe I can help you. But in this case you need to run two tools in CWM Recovery to find out where exactly the internal SD was damaged, and then, use a modified .pit to create the partitions in a whay that the damaged part is 'jumped'
Until there, I uploaded the stock .pit for a 4.1.2 for an internal SD card of 16 gb

[SOLVED]Low memory messages (Installing/updating apps)

Hi. I own a i9100 with a custom ROM. After I installed some apps i got the "Low Memory" message. Not a persistent one in the notification bar, only messages when i try to update/install apps. I get this on other roms too. As i searched the internet i saw that all of them have 2 internal storages (and SD card) and the first one always had 1.97GB free space. I have this problem with a 16GB i9100. My question is why my phone takes the first internal storage as primary and why are there 2 internal storages?
I did searched the forum and i found some threads with the *#9900# option but i get a message and can't enter. I will attach some screenshots.
Maybe a repartition will solve my problem with the 2 internal storages and low memory?
Thank you.

Welcome to XDA alexarg98!
There are two internal storages because the 2GB one is for apps, the rest is for personal usage (the one you can access with a file manager). This is so that the device makes sure that you have adequate space for apps, otherwise people will start complaining that they have no space because all of the storage is taken up by personal files. A repartition will certainly fix your problems with insufficient space, just make sure to follow the instructions carefully from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...es/mod-partition-internal-memory-app-t2538947 or this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ivatives/mod-increase-partition-size-t3011162
Note: You will lose all of your apps and you will need to reformat your internal storage so make sure to backup onto your PC or external sd card.
The *#9900# dial code is not available because you are using a custom rom, only stock based roms can access these *secret* menus.

Thank you for your time and detailed answer. I will do the repartition and I will come back with the result.
Hey @gsstudios . I did try your way of repartition but when i formatted the sdcard,i got some errors like "unable to mount /emmc" . I wiped the /data /cache and /system and i proceed to the next steps. I did recovered my backup in recovery and again i got the "unable to mount /emmc" . Anyways my phone booted and now in the storage I have only one internal memory (6Gb) and my SDcard. My question is,do i have the other 10Gb for data? Or only my 6Gb. As long as my storage shows only that.
Thanks.
EDIT: I cannot put anything on my SD card or internal memory.. And Files app doesn't see my internal memory.
Although I can install apps.
I tried another .pit file / tried to format with CWM (succesfully) but i got the same problem with internal memory not recognizable in Files app or storage info in settings.
@alexarg
When did u format it ?
After or before flashing costom PIT file ?
U need to format it after flashing costom PIT file using costom recovery.

What about using a different pit file? Which kernel did you use to format your internal partition? Did you try mounting your storage manually in the mounts and storage menu and format via your PC?

Ok. So yesterday i did some tests and I found something to work out.
I used the 8GB .pit file , gustavo kernel and CWM Recovery.
Last time I flashed the CWM after the .pit and kernel, and yesterday i started all over and installed CWM and after .pit and kernel because i saw that CWM is able to format sdcard (internal). And so I was able to repartition my device.
Seems like TWRP can't repartition (at least for me).
So I wanna thank you @gsstudios for your time and guidance. And @MikiGry for helping too.
Have a good day.
