[Q&A/Discussion][4.3/4.4][I9300]OmniROM - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey peeps,
to get some load from the omni development thread I thought i make a q&a thread.
The related development threads can be found here (4.3) and here (4.4).

Prerequesits
4.4
CWM Touch 6.0.4.4 (if you have a metadata error when flashing, you're using a wrong recovery!)
Knowledge about Android installation
How to flash
If coming from a different rom or different android version
download Rom and place it on your sd
download gapps (4.3 / 4.4) and place it on your sd
reboot to recovery
wipe data/factory reset
flash Rom
flash gapps
reboot and have fun
Updating omni (except from 4.3 to 4.4)
download rom and place it on your sd
reboot ro recovery
if stated wipe data/factory reset
flash rom
reboot and have fun

Video playback is messy
Camera (pictures) is a bit broken

Reporting Bugs
Please keep in mind, omni is still work in progress, so some glitches are expected, if you face any bug, please add a log or at least step by step information to reproduce it and report it at gerrit.omnirom.org (unmerged changes), jira.omnirom.org (merged changes) or at the bug tracker. If you can't provide the needed information to reproduce it or a log, post it here.
Please keep in mind, if you use your own mods, kernel or any other modification which isn't shipped with the rom, try first if it's working without the modifications before reporting or asking about it.​

Q: My singal indicator shows only one bar, why so weak?
The signal itself isn't that weak, it's just a graphical glitch showing it as weak.​
Q: I got an error within recovery, what to do?

At first opening the camera the system will crash, but when it booted up afterwards the camera works.​

Q: Mobile data doesn't work, how to fix it?
Search for the apn settings for your provider and add them manually​
Q: Active display kills my battery, what to do?
Active Display uses much juice if the pocket mode is enbaled, because the proximity sensor is used, if it drains too fast, turn pocket mode off and let the notification redisplay instead (half an hour or hour isn't a bad interval and won't use that much juice).​
Q: Where to find the Multi-Window feature?
Go to the recent activity list (long press home), long press the activity you like to have in Multi-Window and choose add to splitview from the contextmenu.​

All builds, at recents list, longpress the window you like to add to split view.

Thanks button is not working :thumbdown: thank you for the info :thumbup: also on 20/10 build there is no data. Restore APN not working for data. Calls and Tex's working ok

What you mean by restore, if you talk about restoring with titanium or similar, doesn't work most of the time, just search for them and type them in manually under settings - > more - > mobile networks and it should work fine (at least for everyone else, where mobile data didn't work out of the box it worked).

The dev host links are user builds from me and hackworks, both as well so only include source from omni repositories, my last includes more cherry picks, like active display and device settings, hackworks less, but is built more recent.

It has been pushed to gerrit and reviewed, but it won't be included (at least not soon), because multi window and halo have a conflict, because of an identical flag.

Basically yes, but it will also introduce new bugs.

Since Omni is currently mostly an AOSP rom with a few goodies and tweaks, I found the following Xposed mod works perfectly and brings with it a few very nice, yet sorely missed features to this rom. Till these are implemented, we can it them instead
Gravity Box - Screenshot on Power Menu, QuickSettings Tile Management, Navigation Bar Tweaks and a whole bunch of others.
XuiMod - BatteryBar as found on SlimBean
Tinted Status Bar - As the titles says, changes the status bar colour to match the currently running app
I only tested these so far and they work very well and there is no battery drain or perceptible performance decrease.
