MIUI ROM 2.3.16 [ICS] ROMS Uploaded for SGS2

Link below to download the rom from MIUIAndroid.

Now installing after a back up to have a look and see what battery life is like, don't know what kernel will be best to use though!

Just installed too, hope its the fully translated version. Oh and it can't use any other kernels until ICS kernel sources are released.

Is there a list of languages? Can't find it and I'd like to know is there a polish translation.
Installed, boots in english - good taking an absolute age to do miui restore, literally just taken about 2 mins to restore the call logs, it means its probably going to take an absolute age to restore the few thousand messages I've got on the handset! Won't be able to report any other errors or issues until I can use the thing!
Right cancelled back up as I wanted to see if everything worked before using it, I am getting a force closure with the camera, it loads saying media scanning running then crashed out back to the main screen.
*Edit - camera working now that the media scanning had finished, still dont know whether to leave it as it is yet though! decisions decisions, may give it a days use*.
I have gone into the menu under languages only english united kingdom and united states are there along with what looks to be chinese input languages.
Menu interface has changed instead of having the 3 sections at the top it has them all listed vertically, I think I am going to revert back to my RGUI 2.3.7 as that was working fine until this becomes more stable and functioning as a working rom if i've already found these couple of small items in the first half hour of using it.
Baseband is lpq but most system apps are lph, thats a shame. Also seems to crash on about phone -> status.

I hope this MIUI will be great. I used to hate the MIUI camera app.
No facebook sync either.

On restoring the phone it is now half way through my messages, the processor has got really really warm just below the camera!
Now restoring my backup via cwm, I know that works and battery life was good on the SiyahKernel 2.6.13.
Much worse then lets say WIUI beta ics ....
camera doesnt work, gallery doesnt read, lockscreen cannot be changed, phone is bad looking samsung one, random bugs, slower...
Restoring backup
Hmm, gallery doesn't work at all (even with data & cache wipe and deleting DCIM), and overall this just feels really laggy. Not in a releasable state as a daily driver IMO.

I agree, it still has that Samsung feel to it and is laggy and just generally buggy.
The download stated here is about 10 mb smaller than the file on official miui site. Downloading from there to test it, but server is very busy at the moment so the download takes ages...
Also, that page says, posting has been made today at 9:45 AM - Official MIUI Release was made later today, so I think that one on miuiandroid.com maybe is an earlier beta with bugs or something, could explain why several of you guys have problems with it.
and from http://www.miui.com/development.html is 213mb
from miuiandroid.com is 205mb

OaT's Light n Tasty

Anyone else having problems installing the WIFI Drivers on-top of the latest OaT's Light n Tasty build?
I installed release dated 05/08/12 as usual (Cache, Dalvik, etc) install on-top of a previous OaT build and the latest Google Apps (OaT's "Light n Tasty" GApps (04/29) without problems and immediately began to have WIFI problems with the default build.
As suggested, I tried to install the Flashable ath6kl zip posted for LnT and the install completes, but the system locks-up showing Cyanogen - Loading message and never proceeds to the default ANDROID default boot screen.
I'd place this message in the OaT Light n Tasty developer build folder, but I don't have right to post there yet (need 10 posts and I'm only up to 5), so that is why I'm posting here.
Either way, I was able to reapply the 5/8 build and am surviving with the default CM9 WIFI drivers that kinda work sometime and not others.
Any help would be appreciated and thanks for the support! Sorli...
OaT posted today that he found out the wifi driver package he posted was broken. I would suggest that you try the 4/28 version B and see if that works better for you until a new version is posted.
Corporate Mail Issues?
Wanted to pick this thread back up for current discussions around the JellyBean development.
Is anyone else having issues getting the Corporate e-mail account to process on the 8/19 build of CM10? I have not been able to get my Corporate mail to successfully connect, and I've replicated the settings from my Droid 3 that happens to be running a CM10 build as well.
How does one reinstall the APKs for Corporate/Exchange e-mail? I may need to try this, but have not installed APKs on my own.
Any help or guidance is appreciated.
(Not calling this a bug, since OaT hasn't been asking for bugs given the early development stage of his ROM.)

Simply download the APK on your tablet from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1557111
When complete, click the notification and it will prompt you to install it. When it tells you it's complete, just click Done and you're ready to roll!
The end has come to OaT and CM10!
Disappointing news - OaT ROM is discontinued as the dev wasn't seeing the love from the users.
I think this indicates the end of the TouchPad and Android unless CM9 moves forward, or someone picks up CM10 from an old ROM that's floating around the internet.
Right now, I haven't seen much of anything, and Rev Kyle isn't sounding optimistic.
Boo! :crying:

Just wanted to toss out my 2 cents...Since owning 2 touchpads, i've have always been running OAT's rom since day one and CM9 on the other
Both ROM's have always rocked solid outside the basic issues....Kudos to the Dev's for that!
Currently, i've been running 07-29 since day off release and it has been my daily driver....never took the time to install the Beats version, as i was content with the original...i did DL the OaT-JB version and even that was rocking.
OAT it's a shame we will not see the love you've have had for the touchpad....ill miss the updates and following the thread.
PLEASE if you decide to give it a go again, id be more than happy to assist with any "testing".
Thanks for such great work and making my HPTP a very useable tablet. Till then.....
Rich
I'm really bummed to hear OAT steeping away from TP updates and support.
I like many did not have enough credits on xda-developers forums to post messages and replies when changes were made and I had no way of supporting his efforts on this forum. Shame and not a big surprise and hopefully things and TP support continues. Sorli...

like the rom so far very peppy however I am not a fan of golauncher never looked right for me. I am using Holo Launcher HD it is very peppy for my usage now I don't get why someone was having force close problems with it as it has been working great for me. The one thing I love about it is that gestures can be customized and it is not a premium feature.

I tried Holo launcher as I use that on my other devices...
But on my TP set to 120DPI, I think it looked horrid. I could not stand the fact that the icons were looking fuzzy and odd sizes... It looked fine at the default 160DPI but I like mine set at 120 and it was had. I had to go back to GoLauncher and it looks better for me. I have not tried ADW EX but for now, until CM10 becomes available (stable and not as nightly) I will stick with GoLauncher.

Ahh...that is why I was having problems with Holo Launcher and wondering why I had to mess so much of the settings.
I'm hopeful CM10 makes it, but then I'm not putting much stock since so many people are moving on to other hardware and leaving our TP behind in the limelight. Sorli...

[Q] HELP

Hi,
i downloaded the new Android 4 Update for
my sony ericsson xperia arc S and ive had nothing but trouble with my phone
since. It freezes all the time, cuts off when im on facebook, wont let me set a facebook status, just stops running etc.
Can anyone help me out
What do i do?
Do i remove it?
HELP PLEASE!!
Thanks
Jacqui

Did you download the alpha-builds of these ROMs? If yes, then that may be the cause of your problems as these alpha-builds are not much stable, buggy of-course and not meant for everyday usage. You should better download a stable release of the ICS ROMs for these devices, when made available by Sony.
Hope that helps, thanks
Everything you just said went straight over my head!! lol
*Technophobe* lol
It came through as a notification to my phone saying new updates available so i downloaded it and had problems ever since. Can it be removed?? x
Well, you could download previous stock rom ( your previous android version ), and try to flash it.

i777 Stock Music Player?

(Fairly) new S2 user here. Gotta say, coming from an Apple device, Android is leagues ahead.
I've got a particular question regarding the music player in Samsung's stock 2.3.6/4.0.4. Is it possible to use either of these with a Jelly bean ROM? I've tried installing them both at random times, and the phone will immediately state "App Not Installed." However, I've seen people do the same thing for other stock samsung apps that work just fine.
If it helps, I'm running Jellybam 3.3.0. Patiently waiting for their servers to come back from the dead so I can get 4.0.0
Thanks in advance!

He use JellyBam.
Man, use the sony walkman that i think came with jellybam or install google play from store.
I was using that before buy poweramp that is the best player on last 12 months.
You can also try Xenoamp beta from xda. Search for it.
About sansung apps you do need to know 1 thing.
There are 2 kinds of Roms.
1- official sansung release base
2- aosp roms
Exclusive Apps from 1 wont work on 2.
Not a big deal cuz there is better options out there.

Thanks guys. After much reading and your help, I came across that conclusion.
I'm a little less noobish everyday
I got the player to work from another rom.

Check this thread - I installed this in my root folder and it works. The only thing iffy is the search function which if you select from the "suggested" items that pop up - crashes the app. But if you type it in and hit the search button (not the suggested) it works flawlessly.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1815588&page=2
Used it on CM Mod9,10. JellyBAM, and AOKP roms.
All working except for that small bug in the search.
You guys should check out Mediamonkey, it's pretty bad ass.

Re: [ROM][UNOFFICIAL] Stock JellyBean 4.1.2 V4
Does this ROM not support multi taking? When I played a song and opened another app (agent dash) the song stops playing and when I exit the app It goes to the home page and the launcher reloads. The same thing happens even when I browse.
Am I the only one who has this problem? :\

Unfortunately this is case, although depending on what apps you need on your phone you may be able to get a more usable rom by removing things you don't want such as Facebook, Twitter, etc.
I have v3 of that rom and have removed a lot of the apps that came pre-installed as I simply don't want them. Also, certain kernels will help, (such as the experimental v8 kernel) and can also be configured to use zram which will help slightly, although it's not perfect. Even with all of the above I regularly get launcher redraws after web browsing or playing a game.
... there's a reason Sony didn't release Jelly Bean on our device.
The good news is that some real progress is being made on various versions of Cyanogenmod, so while Sony may have given up on us, it's not time to go out and buy a new phone quite yet!

To be honest I'm a big fan of Sony's UI. My other half has a Samsung Galaxy and although I will say that it feels much more fluid than my phone to use, I'd still rather have my phone, just working better! Such a shame that Sony underspec'd the hardware, but then this is nothing new -- I've had three other Sony (Ericsson) phones and they've all been underspec'd. You'd have thought by now I'd have learned my lesson!
