Mine is not rooted... No Rom... Using the factory one...

Some questions regarding root...

Hi all, (this is my first thread)
I wanted to ask a couple of questions about which I am confused...
I am currently running stock 4.1.1 on rooted international galaxy s3..
Q1. Is there anyway I can get 4.1.2 OTA Without unrooting?
Q2. I am not sure whether the country I bought my phone from has got the update yet... So is there anyway I can check that...
P.S I got my phone from dubai..
But I live in India...
Thanks.

Give a try to the temporary unroot option in the superuser app...
Not guaranteed to work...
Download stock rom through sammobile.com and flash through odin only...

If you already have CWM recovery why not use CWM to flash a custom 4.1.2 rom thats based on Stock firmware (like Android Revolution HD)?
Thats just as easy, has more support, rooted and you'll have future updates faster as well.
I already downloaded omega v34 but didn't flash it because people have lot of issues with it.. Lag, random reboot etc. Stock rom will be more stable I guess..
I haven't tried revolution though...
I'll try it now..
Any other rom you recommend?
Thanks!

I had the same experience, Omega had loads of launcher redraws and sudden lag. No such experience on ARHD with Perseus kernel. That kernel now even has the exynos exploit fixed.
Nope, all other roms i've tried i never used more then a few hours.
Can you give me a link to the ARHD page?
Thanks!

Yeah, everytime you flash the stock image, you'll have to root the phone again... but so what?? I have my mobile sine 8 weeks and i think i flashed it 10times now, and lots of custom-rom installations, configuring the phone etc....
It's not a hard work, you just have to read carefully BEFORE you start rooting, modding or whatever. This forum is awesome and till now i really found an answer to my questions everytime without bothering the ither guys with a question that is already answered a thousand times just have to use the search... so, good luck and have fun with your rooted mobile. By the way, i recommend the Omega-ROM for galaxy S2 and S3, the guys are.doing a great job with their ROMs. If you own a S3 LTE (i9305) i recommend the Pandoriam ROM, works best for me
Best regards

Haha.. Thanks buddy.
Btw, I am not new to rooting, I have flashed at least 15 rom's on my old phone(galaxy ace)
But I was not a member of XDA then.. I just used to read....
But since s3 is much more expensive I wanted to be absolutely clear about the smallest of things...
Because with great power comes great responsibility.

As far as I know, rootbox doesn't come with a music app. If you want one on the device, I would recommend installing Apollo or Google Music on top of it.
Can I install this rom as a secondary with the latest Siyah kernel (1.8.9)
comp: I9300XXEMA2
band: I9300DXELK1

[Q] No Service! After flasing Paranoid Rom

No Service,After flashing Paranoid Rom.
I checked Baseband version. It shows Unknown.
So i flashed two 4.1.2 Baseband. But both did not work.
Then i flashed leaked JB 4.2.1 version ROM,Now All Service and Data Service working.
After that i rooted the stock rom and again i tried to flash PA rom.
This is also happening for CM rom.
But for other custom stock rom or temasek's UNOFFICIAL cm,it is working well.
Why?
Any solution?
I tried the same rom on another Galaxy S3.
Service was working well.
Mine and another s3 have same Baseband.
I did same steps to install for both headset.
Did you wipe your phone before installing the new rom?

I flashed stock rom.i tried to flash but no luck.
I think I need to completely reset my device.
For that do I need pit file?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
If you mess with Pit you are likely to have a brick .
Flash stock rom via Odin .
jje
don't mess with PIT, just reflash another working CM rom (like slim) and it should be fine. THen if you want re flash stock, but you should be fine anyway.

[Q] [Help] No service on AOSP roms

Hey guys I'va a international S3 (i9300)
When I try to install an AOSP rom like cm11 or slimkat or cm12 beta
I get the phone booting and everything working fine but for the Network
I tried every solution that could be done but I get nothing still no service but the imei is correct and the baseband is working
the signal just comes and goes in a second saying no service
-I tried restoring EFS (didn't work)
-flashing modem (didn't work)
-flashing patched modem just made it worse and made me lose the imei
-tried to flash several kernels but also with no result
The signal comes back correctly on Touchwiz roms such as (stock-back to n00t-blekota-bulldog-DN4..etc)
but when on AOSP the problem starts again
I hope anyone could help
Thanks in advance
Can't anyone solve it?
