[Q] [Help] No service on AOSP roms - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys I'va a international S3 (i9300)
When I try to install an AOSP rom like cm11 or slimkat or cm12 beta
I get the phone booting and everything working fine but for the Network
I tried every solution that could be done but I get nothing still no service but the imei is correct and the baseband is working
the signal just comes and goes in a second saying no service
-I tried restoring EFS (didn't work)
-flashing modem (didn't work)
-flashing patched modem just made it worse and made me lose the imei
-tried to flash several kernels but also with no result
The signal comes back correctly on Touchwiz roms such as (stock-back to n00t-blekota-bulldog-DN4..etc)
but when on AOSP the problem starts again
I hope anyone could help
Thanks in advance

Can't anyone solve it?

The IMEI is your device's fingerprint number, flashing roms don't change it, unless the rom file is corrupted or some error happens during the flash, what is kind of rare.
You should be able to flash without problems, but don't forget to flash the correct rom version for your device, and to flash GAPPS after flashing the rom.
Hey
In addition I would strongly recommend to back up ur efs..

How sad that some HIT & RUN people after posting their questions and get their answers quickly never hit that damn THANKS button.

that's actually downgrading rather than upgrading. 4.1.2 builds are newer and use a new EFS format but the 4.2.2 builds are older and use older EFS format! so back up your EFS every time before you flash something as already mentioned above. if you face any problems refer to the link under my signature and post there for any queries.

[Q] anybody using a 4.3 samsung rom have an issue with H+ mobile data?

I'm currently using ultima rom v16. When using mobile data I used to (on 4.1.2) get H+ signal. Now on 4.3 I only have H.
I've tried different kernels and also tried changing the modem to the same one I used on 4.1.2 (MG4) to no avail.
I'm just wondering if it's a 4.3 issue or rom issue. Also if anybody has any ideas of other steps I can take to get this sorted.

Wipe and flash full stock rom with odin, use the stock rom for your country including latest modem.
Test before you restore/install any apps or mods.

I'm using ULTIMAs ROM. It's that ROM issue. Every other 4.3 I have tried worked normally with H+.

Need help going back to stock

As easy as it is I need help due to the fact that I have the I9300XXEMG4 firmware, the firmware that messes with the efs folder. I want to go to a recent, stock 4.4 state but I don't know what to go to due to the fact that I remember when I flashed another firmware a few months back, I couldn't make any calls or receive them due to the efs issues.
I would appreciate it if someone could provide the steps that I should take in order to get back to stock.
I'm currently running Cyanogenmod Mod 11 and I have been for a very long while now, I was on 10.2 and 10 prior to that and.
Thanks in advance.
