Rewrite your carriers cid before Flashing Ruu - T-Mobile HTC One (M7)

I'm at a loss I'm unlocked rooted soff supercid
Trying to flash tmo 4.3 ruu on my att one
I am getting a error-159 during utility update .
As far as I understand you can flash another carriers Ruu as long as soff and supercid and you don't even have to relock the bootloader as long as your soff?
Do we have to write our carriers cid before flashing a ruu?
Basically I'm able to do this but evidently missing a step.
I don't want to loose soff or update my hboot which is currently on 1.44

Updating Firmware & hboot

I'm on hboot 1.12. I've seen some talk about updating my hboot//firmware to the most recent version. it seems like a bit of a process. Can someone tell me the benefit of doing this? Also, if someone could explain how i can do this? thank you so much!
Im on Mean Rom 4.1
thank you
Most important question: are you S-OFF?

Never update your hboot. Updating firmware is a good idea. Definitely get s-off if you haven't already.
Its not a "process" at all.... you just flash it either from recovery or from H-boot depending on if you are S-ON or S-OFF
And you want to update radio and firmware, no tthe Hboot
I think what you may be referring to is relocking and running the RUU to update your firmware. Sure that can be a bit involved, but if you're S-OFF updating firmware is really easy and you don't have to mess with any of that stuff. Like the others have said, since you're 1.12 you should go get S-OFF and then flash the firmware (minus the hboot).
Definitely get s-off, s-on unlocked is a guilded cage
Even if he is S-ON it doesnt matter. Hboot 1.12 can update through recovery
Yea but soff is better
I thought with 1.12 s-on you could only update the radio but the other firmware bits were off limits?

The security is different on 1.12, its practically non existent (compared to hboots 1.15 and 1.19) when you unlock but to have full write access to nand you need soff

radio upgrade

Is it possible with hboot 1.19 s-on running MeanBean? If so what method? I tried dirty racun and it failed on the on the step fastboot oem rebootRUU and black screen with HTC. Then wouldn't flash RUU. t/u
Ruu when in bootloader. Then unlock and then run racun.

Last weekend I relocked my phone then ran the RUU and took the OTA then unlocked and rooted again. I couldn't get Racun to work for me either.

I will most likely try the unroot method since I have tried the racun and was stuck with a phone not working for a while.

The RUU to use depends on your hboot, for example, if youre on hboot 1.15 use RUU 1.22.651.3 - HBOOT 1.15
for hboot 1.19 use RUU 2.13.651.1 - HBOOT 1.19
The best guide to follow is the unlimited guide from their site, they will acutally support your efforts live! I used this method and I was able to gain s-off, unlock my bootloader and root; here's the link (it contains eveything you need including the RUU):

[Q] HBOOT and Unlocking

So I recently got a hold of a rezound and it came with S-OFF and an unlocked 2.25 HBOOT. I have a couple of questions about upgrading:
1. Does keeping the HBOOT unlocked have any benefits besides extra fastboot commands (which I'll never use)?
2. How can I upgrade to the 2.27 HBOOT with my phone's current status (unlocked with S-OFF).
3. Are there any benefits to having the unlocked 2.27 HBOOT that vinylfreak released over the stock HBOOT?
Thanks in advance for the help. I've been paging through this forum and there is a lot of fragmented information floating around that's both new and old so it can be hard to make sense of it all.

1. You can flash kernels in recovery and not HBOOT, you can also install a different splash screen logo (downside. you can brick the phone because there is zero security now. "S" in on or off means security)
2. you can update the HBOOT to 2.27 without any problems by downloading one from the develop section and it wont hurt the phone. link
3. HBOOT 2.27 was meant for the global update. if you dont plan on leaving the U.S. or use the phone for gsm then there isnt a need to update.

I would run newest ruu with 2.27 hboot and flash a custom rom.

Can I run it with S-OFF and unlocked? I read somewhere that if you use an official RUU on an unlocked HBOOT that you could brick your phone. Will running the RUU re-lock the bootloader after upgrading? Thanks for the help
You can't ever brick your phone running an ruu unless its a bad ruu. To ruu though.. your phone must be relocked using fastboot. What you're thinking of is if you s-on with a modified hboot then you brick. You're good though.
1. Relock with fastboot oem lock
2. Run RUU
3. Honestly there's not much reason to unlock again

OK so unlocked and locked boot loaders mean you can use fast boot commands. If you ruu to the newest you will loose fast boot commands unless you unlock or flash an engineering hboot.
If you ever wanted to update after you have unlocked, you must relock the boot loader before updating. Ie never ruu on an unlocked hboot

Don't bother updating hboot, it will net you nothing. I've been running 2.25 hboot with the new radios since the 4.03.605.2 leak. 0 issues and runs VERY well. Also unlocked on a patched/eng hboot means nothing, can run the same commands the same way with it being locked. Although a stock hboot may need to be unlocked to get access to some of those commands, of which will probably be of no use to you anyways.
@Syn
S-off shouldnt need a re-lock/unlock to update ANYTHING in hboot with a ph98img.

[Q] Can't update with RUU 2.13 after relocking bootloader

I am trying to flash my phone with the RUU 2.13 so I can get the new firmware and flash meanbean. I am following this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31520093&postcount=11730) to do so. After following what Captain says, which is to relock the bootloader I can't get past the bootloader (which I now understand is normal right?) and then try to run the RUU through HBOOT, however I get the USB error. Is this due to the bootloader being relocked or am I missing the htc drivers on my computer?
Also, I'd rather go to S-Off, so if anyone could shed some light on how I would go from S-On to S-Off I would greatly appreciate it.
Which firmware are you trying to get on your phone? Because the way I'm reading it is you're using the older ruu file to try to get the newest firmware. Just wanna make sure you're using the newest ruu of 3.15 (came out December 22).

Ya wow can't believe how long it's been since I've flashed a rom. An old version of MeanRom has lasted me so long. I am on an old firmware (1.13) I believe. I want to preferably go from S-On to S-Off. Before, I tried Captain Throwbacks method (relocking the bootloader, flashing the RUU) however I ran into a USB Connection Problem with the RUU. So I am trying to figure out if it was because I didn't have the right htc drivers installed or something else. If S-On to S-Off would eliminate the need for those steps I would much rather do that. I am trying to get to the latest firmware. Thanks!
What Hboot are you on?
Edit: If you're on 1.12 you're going to have to go the Dirty Racun route, since Lazy Panda is no longer officially supported. This, of course, requires you to RUU to upgrade to either Hboot 1.15 or 1.19, then run Dirty Racun to get S-off. Getting S-off is definitely the way to go, as it can save you some headache down the road. Also, don't run the RUU for 3.15 (JB) as this will update your Hboot and currently there is no exploit to get S-off with the new Hboot. You can still unlock and root it, but you'll be S-on.

Confusing result after RUU

In an effort to upgrade bootloader and software to be compatible with cm11.. I used vipeRUU to go from 1.12 bootloader to 2.09 bootloader with the 3.17.651.471 software, whats confusing me is bootloader still says ..Unlocked ..and S-off after running ruu ..bootloader has changed and so has the software... (i was Previously s-off via Lazy panda).. i was under the impression that this would un root and lock bootloader again.. i know that i now have lost root i know how to check that .. question is , is bootloader locked now as well?..tried rumrunner and moonshine to no avail, to get S-OFF .. and it needs to be unlocked for those exploits to work.. any ideas?
It will lock your bootloader and return the phone S-on if you chose those options in the menu when you first ran VipeRUU. If you're still S-off, then all you need to do is unlock the bootloader again unless it's showing unlocked. An easier route than what you chose would have been to update your Hboot to the Rumrunner Hboot, which takes less than a minute to do. You'll still need to update your firmware, since VipeRUU is a version behind what's currently out there. If you're S-on now, you'll need to unlock the bootloader and run Moonshine.
