hey guys just last night i got back into using my galaxy s2 again because lets just say i had a bad phone after an update (apple)
so i decided to go back and i was currently at that time using "wanam Rom 14.6" and was loving it.
Then the tragic moment happened,
since the battery was running out really quick and my signal was really bad i remember in my computer i had a modem for good signal here in New Zealand. So it was a tar file and i used ODIN 1.85 and clicked the phone button then brought in the tar, then made sure i was in download mode and checked everything. BOOM it failed :crying: leaving me in horror until today. I was like WHAT? i did this a year ago exactly and was perfectly fine (i was on resurrection remix) i have know idea why this occurred.
NOT ONLY WAS I UPSET, but i couldn't do anything?
i tried flashing the stock firmware but that would fail ; http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/mobile-ap...ck-android-rom-on-samsung-galaxy-s2-50007880/
and i have know idea what to do, whenever i turn my screen on 'firmware upgrade encountered an issue, please select recovery mode in kies and try again.
PLEASE HELP ME! i know this may not be important to you but please im in a crisis at the moment and i really need help, please help me resolve my problem and have my phone rooted and running again
PLEASE i need someones help, i have no clue on what to do
1) Chill out (and quit using stupid formatting). And if I see you bump a thread after 10 minutes on here again, you're not going to enjoy the consequences, trust me.
2) The phone is in 'forced download' mode.
3) You need to search for Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread & go thru the stuff in that thread until you successfully flash a stock rom.
you are a life saver
i just realised that i was not connected to the mother board on the computer, i was using a usb port in my kebyoard
Thank you so much
i just flashed a stock rom, and no its time for rooting
could you give me another good tutorial for rooting?
thank you again:good:

Hello,
I hope someone can help me!
Today I installed CWM 6.0.1 to my SGS3 by Odin and then I got this rom from the SGS3 ( 2Gig ram) section: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2023916
And everything start good. I followed the instruction and then the installation start. But few minutes later get fail on kernel and the phone stuck on it..I couldn't do anything and that why I remove the battery. But after that the phone won't turn on!
Any suggestion what I can do to brink my phone to live?
Thank you!

First, why the hell did you flash I9305 software on a I9300?
Second, if you have a jig try to get in downloadmode and reflash a stock I9300 rom. If you don`t have a jig pull the battery, wait for a minute and reinsert it and try the three button way to get in downloadmode and flash a stock rom.
Sorry I forgot to say that the phone is SGS3- I9305. So the rom it was correct one. I'm been flashed before to htc hd2, so I'm not totally noob to this. But I don't know what get wrong. I followed all the step by step instrucion..
This with the battery don't work. I wait 2minutes and put it back and try to turn on the phone but don't want...

Have you tried to get into recovery mode? Eventually with a jig if the normal key combination does not work?
Can you please tell me what JIG is? And yes I tryed to go to recovery mode, but the problem is there, that the phone don't want to turn on...Any light, any vibration..
Ok, I saw what jig is on google, but I don't have it..
This is i9300 forum, post in the correct section
Thank you for telling me! I saw that, but I don't want to make another treat and make the admins angry
Is it possible just to move that one to the other section?
Thank you!
Report your post and ask for it to be moved
Hi there, I just tried to flash Jelly Bean on to my S2 using Odin. For whatever reason Odin failed and now I'm left with a screen saying "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." I can still access download mode but not recovery mode. Neither my laptop nor my desktop will recognise my S2 so I'm unable to try again using Odin.
Any suggestions? I hope it's not permanently ruined because I only got it on Wednesday
Best bet stop what your doing and start to read the many threads about what's happened to your phone. You can fix this but you need to stop and read.

Right, thank you. I've spent the morning trying to find relevant threads and build up some kind of picture but there is so much information, most of which only semi covers my particular situation, that I thought it would be easier just to ask for some help. Is there some sort of guide for this kind of thing or should I just continue my search through the depths of the forums?
Hum....there's like 2 zillion threads about this, use the search button by entering only "kies".

I've actually just got it sorted now. Lots and lots of trying and re-trying Odin, re-installing drivers and rebooting. Not sure what finally got it to work but Jelly Bean is running beautifully.
Sorry about the addition of yet another post on this topic. It's difficult not to try to get direct help when you think you've just ruined your brand new and rather expensive device.
Well done mate. Better to read and learn than to ask and no nothing.
Hey everyone, I just tried to root my Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9305 and I believe that I used the wrong rom (for I9300). Ever since I rooted it I can't use the phone, whenever I turn it on it just goes straight to the "Downloading... Do not turn off target!!". I can't exit download mode (tried pressing volume up+power+home) All I can do is re-enter download mode by pressing volume down+power+home. Please help! What should I do? I don't know where to start and I really hope I haven't turned my precious into an expensive doorstop.
Try reflash stock rom I9305

First you posted on the wrong forum the I9305 has a separate Q & A thread. Onto though your problem though... your phone is on a semi-brick state since it can still boot into download mode so there's still hope... what I can recommend you to do is that you flash a stock rom this time make sure its for the I9305 branch and not the I9300 one just go to Sammobile and search. If that still fails then better wait for a more experienced user to give you a possible fix as i don't own an I9305 one.
It seems hard to find the stock rom on sammobile for the I9305, I'm aware I'm a complete noob when it comes to this stuff but usually I'm pretty good at finding these things... Has anyone got a link to it?

@JJEgan
You should've just posted the link of the firmware section of Sammobile and not copy paste it as a whole... look it's all messy and much more confusing.

I was in a similar situation to our unfortunate friend, biggyjurss. I nearly gave up all hope of ever restoring my phone (SIII GT-19305) to the way it was. I really didn't think there was any way back from being stuck in the download screen that will still haunt me the rest of my days. With everyone's help, I managed to restore everything to the way it was!!!! **** YEEEAAHH! I have learnt a valuable lesson in not to EVER attempt rooting a phone again unless I really know what I am doing and I have done my research. I want to thank everyone on this thread for helping me out!
i'm having this exact same problem after doing the exact same mistakes and nothing seems to be helping. I've already wiped everything from the phone and tried Kies to getting the phone back to stock, but Kies just crashes in the process. I can also get to the boot menu and to the download menu, but nothing helps. The phone just keeps coming back to the downloading screen. Please help :crying: I thought there would be no trouble with rooting your phone since every site just said how easy it is...
THANK YOU!
I made the same error (flashed i9300 instead of i9305), and got stuck too.
Tried flashing the rooted i9305 to no avail.
Had to cross my fingers hoping that my laptop's BSOD doesn't come when I was downloading the stock off Sammobile. (I get intermittent BSODs, usually because of the heat. My laptop is old.)
It's now working again after flashing the stock firmware.
Thank you all, once again!
Hi Guys,
I am new here from South Africa.
I have a problem with my S2. It froze while I was in an application. Nothing would work and the phone just didn't want to power off as well. I then unclipped the battery and then started it up. The phone would not go past the screen which reads Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100.
Then I read up and watched a few clips on how to do the rerooting, etc. and attempted it but mine never completed using ODIN 1.85. I then unplugged the device from the PC as nothing was happening, now the phone does not want to boot up. All it shows on screen is a phone (cell phone) and a broken link to a PC.
What would I need to do? My service provider advise that they need to install a new motherboard and it would cost 2500ZAR to fix. I did not believe them as to me this is just a software related issue.
Any help will be appreciated to get my S2 working again.
I will post up a pic of what the screen shows a little later.
You're right about it being a firmware issue/not requiring a motherboard replacement - this is quite likely fixable by you (even though pulling the cable is the absolute worst thing you can do during a flash short of pissing on the phone)
That pic on the screen of the phone----PC means the phone is in 'forced download' mode. You need to flash a stock rom with Odin. Get one from Samfirmware, and flash it following the instructions in the thread stickied near the top of Q&A. If it fails to flash first time, search for Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread & try the stuff in that thread until you get a successful flash (hopefully you won't need it).
Thank you for that assistance. I will search for the threads your recommended.
Hi Guys,
A friend of mine will be looking at the phone and seeing what he can do. :good:
There have been a lot of "friends" ruining peoples phones on here....lol

Hello !

I can't acces recovery mode , only download mode , I've tried with odin i put in PDA last stock rom 4.1.2 and then i start , no errors no nothing , but phone still not pass the samsung logo . Please help me if you can , and again sorry for my bad english .
Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' guide stickied in General is 'the Bible' for these situations. Find it, try as many of the things in the thread as you need to in order to get a successful Odin flash. These cases are almost always recoverable, and often fixed with perseverance, so it's not a case of trying everything in the thread once & giving up, because that will result in your phone taking an expensive trip to a Samsung service centre/local mobile repair shop or the bin.
That said, I'd be very surprised if you don't get it working again fairly quickly with Hopper's thread.
