Noobie way how to restore your phone to original state - G2 General

This is the easy way to restore your international G2 to original state like it was from the store.
This will wipe/restore everything including kernel, recovery and such. All your files will be gone too.
Here we go:
Make sure you have drivers installed from lg website.
Charge your phone fully so you dont risk anything.
Download mobile support tool from lg website.
Find your IMEI and write it down somewhere.
Now turn off the phone and then put it into download mode by holding VOL+ while connecting USB to phone (while the other end is connected to pc))
In the mobile support tool go to "more settings" (1st option in top right corner) and there select "upgrade restore" (3rd option)
Now select the second option and put in you IMEI and start
Now this will take verry long time while it downloads the firmware about 1.9GB and installs it on the phone.
After everything is done turn off your phone by holding the power button for a long time. Then hold VOL- and PWR to get in to restore mode and there confirm with power button.
The phone will reboot and you will see the welcome screen to put in your logins and everything else.
Thanks to the original tipster "wargreymon" on the swedish android forum swedroid. This is basicly just a translation. Have a nice day.

Does it work on the international model? Also is there any traces of it been rooted ever?
I don't want to have problems with OTA later on.

1) Read the first sentence in the OP as many times as necessary until you see your answer.
2) "Rooted" will disappear.

Sleep of death

why on earth the at&t Lineup of SGS family always getting the same
problem over and over again?
i used to have an sammy's captivate and the SOD problem was very annoying!
a year ago i was intended to change cappy for his bigger brother the infuse 4g
but i didn't because more SOD problems.
is this a curse or someone in the at&t lineup is jerking all over the
hardware? ?!
does the I777 having this problem too?

Never had a issue on a stock device ever.....once you root, replace kernels, and leaked roms.....well... like my 6 year old daughter says to me....."you get what you get, and you don't get upset".

I've never had an SoD of my phone unless I was messing around with something I shouldn't have in the kernel source code. (And no kernels along those lines ever made it to the public...)
So your saying that i should'v be Paranoid about the phone?
By the way is there any chance to put LTR Support in a rom?
Thats about it..
Many thankes!

With the LoC count where it is and the insane number of logical branches... I'm sure there's a few edge cases that still will result in it. It's unavoidable (and 100% understandable).

I never had SoDs with my Infuse either, except for the early days when I was unaware of the 800 MHz suspend limitation, or when I was too aggressive with undervolting.
SetCPU with a screen off profile that has a limit of less than 800 MHz = almost guaranteed SoD on unpatched kernels. But anyone who is rooted running SetCPU can install a patched kernel to fix that. The 800 MHz suspend limit issue doesn't affect anyone with a stock device.
I do recall that something about Widget Locker somehow causes SoDs (most likely because it mucks around with the lockscreen code), but again - that's not an issue with a stock phone.
i had SoD on stock firmware and i get it about 3 times a week on CM7.1 as well. it's the most frustrating thing about this phone. and that is saying something
Excuse my ignorance but what is SoD

It's Sleep of Death.
Meaning when you put the phone into sleep, it actually goes into coma .
You have to spank it a few times before it wakes up.
I had an AT&T GS1 that had major SoD issues. It's the most annoying thing ever.
Now my GS2 just has battery issues, where the Android system takes up to 80% of the phone's battery life sometimes.

Android System or Android OS? The latter is a known issue with the UCKK6 update.
Different SoC no prob. Check i9100 forums. Almost same phone and no problems with SoD

Reinstall using Kies Firmware Upgrade And Initialization
I did the following suggested by someone at At&T forum. It seems working. I am posting detailed steps here for anyone who is interested,
Please backup everything on your phone memory before you attempt this. This will wipe out your phone completely.
1. Open Samsung Kies as Administrator
2. Goto Tools -> Firmware upgrade and initialization
3. Enter the model name SGH-I777 (in all upper case letters)
4. Enter the Serial Number of your phone. This can be found under the batter.
5. Click OK. Then you need to accept the warning and it will tell you which firmware it is going to flash onto your phone. It will be 4.0.4. Accept that as well.
5. It will download the necessary files. At this point you can shut down the phone and remove the battery and re-insert the battery.
6. The while pressing the volume Up and Down keys simultaneously (Not the power button) plug the USB cable. Your phone should boot into download mode. It will display a message Downloading..... on the screen.
7. Start Upgrade button on the Kies upgrade screen should now be activated. If not, you may need to reinstall the USB drivers for i777 and may need to reinstall Kies.
8. Once you hit Start Upgrade button, it will start download the proper firmware from the web and then start sending it to the phone. You will see a progress bar in the phone as well. Sometimes it could give you an error similar to "DLL load failure..." If that happened, try change the Compatibility mode of Samsung Kies to Windows Vista SP2 and run in Administrator mode. This can be done by right clicking on Kies icon and selecting Properties --> Compatibility tab.
9. Once the Kies finish transferring the firmware to the phone, the phone will start installing it and once finished, it will reboot.
10. I also factory reset the phone after the upgrade by booting into stock recovery console. You can shut down the phone, press Volume UP + DOWN together and press power button without releasing the volume keys. Then select Factory Wipe and hit Power button.
11. I disabled all the AT&T bloatware anyway because I don't like them and use them anyway. I don't know that was the case because it didn't help me earlier.
Now my phone works as it used to be. 4.0.4 seems to have a good battery life even with WiFi switched on all the time. Earlier if I keep WiFi on for few hours it completely drains my battery. I am happy with my phone again.
Thanks scot070 at AT&T forum for the wonderful tip.

Way to go, necroposter. Raised this one from the dead with a post that has little, if anything, to do with SoDs. Genius!

[SIOLVED] [Q] Xperia go: WIFI,USB,BLUETOOTH dead after factory reset! (was rooted)

Hay guys,
My rooted Xperia GO was working flawlessly before I decided to give it a factory reset. Buf after this reset, WIFI, USB and BT are not working.
To explain how they're not working:
- The WIFI on/off switch is sometimes in sort of a "disabled" color. I can switch it, but nothing happens and it remains in this color. The other times the color is ok, but as soon as I try to switch it, it again gets that color! I believe it is "trying" to turn on the wifi, as this is the message I get when trying to turn on the "WIFI Hotspot" too.
- The Bluetooth on/off switch, cannot get switched on; It immediately jumps back to its previous positions (off).
- The USB: when I connect it, it feels it. Because it starts chargin the phone, AND when I disconnect it it gives me a reminder of water resistance and stuff. But for example in the USB Tethering section, it says "USB not connected". And also I don't see any notifications on the dashboard.
Please help me urgently, as I've just moved to a foreign country, and my phone is a vital thing to me now!
PS: Note that I did not unroot it before the factory reset!

UPDATE: I solved this problem by flashing my phone, using flash tool and a simple tutorial. Refer to post #6 for more details.
Hi,
Try to flash a stock kernel and stock rom in fastboot mod.

Thanks man.
So, knowing that my phone boots up flawlessly, which of the FLASH / FASTBOOT methods should I use (the text always says they're different)
And by the way, the link to Xperia GO stock rom is broken. Where should I find a safe one?
Hay guys.
I finally solved the problem, flashing my phone using the guide located here:
http://xperiafirmware.com/8-firmware/22-sony-xperia-go-st27
It was so easy and I did not need to search inside a jungle of posts!
For future reference:
There were 2 things that were different from the text in the tutorial:
1- When using the flash-tool, it asks you to press the "back button", while in the tutorial says "volume down". Do what the tutorial says and god with the "volume down" button.
2- After flashing, when I started my phone, and was doing the initial settings, some message used to appear from time to time warning me like this: "FACTORY STARTUP SERVICE please wait for POWER OFF BUTTON". This was not mentioned in the tutorial. Anyway, I waited and after a few seconds the screen became blank with 2 buttons: "POWER OFF" and "USE PHONE". I chose to power off, and when restarted my phone, everything was ok -- don't know what would happen if I had chosen the other option!.

[MetroPCS] LG Optimus L9 P76910b [Encrypting and com.android.phone]

Ok, where to begin. so i rooted my phone fine. i was trying to attempt to apply some hacks to swap external sdcard with internal but everything said i have to change my bootloader. rooted fine with some Chinese program. i tried rom toolkit for the bootloader unlocker. reboots, but nothing. so i found an APK file that you run on the phone itself, that you hit an unlock button and it reboots. it said it supported my model etc. but now when i turn it on it goes past the MetroPCS screen into a white screen with "Encrypting" and a button saying "Reset Phone". then an error pops up that says "com.android.phone has stopped" then it sits there forever.
Well, i did figure out that if you let the battery die down a warning message pops up like normal warning of low battery. it gives options to hit OK or Battery Use. if i hit battery use it takes me into the settings menu. i can change anything from there. i tried a factory reset from there and nothing. i tried hard reset [buttons] and nothing. i tried flashing the 10B_00.kdz using AIO Toolkit and it fails saying my phone isn't connected. so oi go back into settings and enable debug etc etc, reboot and then try....same failure. doesnt recognize. i uninstalled and reinstalled pc suite, LGUnited mobile drivers......nothing nothing nothing. i have seen others with same issue and they end up recovering....but not me. am i supposed to flash 10B kdz? that's what my settings say i have. LGMSP76910b or something like that. all firmware sites the p769 model is TMOBILE....can i try flashing a tmobile kdz for my phone and it NOT mess up my metro service? i have tried the update tool....nothing.
My wife has been threatening to kill me so please help. i can only say "Woman! get your ass back in the kitchen and make me a sammich!" a few more times before she realizes all she has to do is whop me over the head with a pan....or broom.....or my broken LG Optimus.....help.

You performed the online restore method.
In order to get the offline flash to work, you need to use the unofficial fastboot and restore an ice cream (p769) x-loader & u-boot. Then perform the offline flash.
There is a problem with jellybeans x & u, and performing the s/w upgrade starting from a cold boot.
The only way for the offline flash flash to work and still be on a jellybean (x-loader & u-boot) the phone must be operating properly and turned on normally (plus it needs to be in the lg software mode).
Finding this information is not easy, because the main sticky threads are out dated.
I've posted this information so many times. I'm like a broken record.

Remove any changes to your windows host file (if you don't know what I'm talking about disregard)
Setup the program put your phone in s/w mode (hold vol + then enter the USB cable into your computer). Enter the information and wait a really long time.
Please don't do anything else while performing the restore. Also make sure your computer doesn't go to sleep during the whole process.

So I'm having the same issues as OP and this is apparently the only thread on the internet where anyone is experiencing this issue. MetroPCS 769 running JB. The phone POSTs and gets to the metroPCS carrier screen but goes to a white screen that just says "encrypting" with a blank progress bar, and that one app crashing. Every other reboot I get the Android recovery screen with the robot and a progress bar, and it reboots back to the "Encryping" screen. I can't even force the phone into a recovery or factory reset mode.
When I run the LG software updater, it says the software on my phone is up to date. There's a menu item for "Download recovery" which detects my phone, and acts like it's downloading something but never finishes. Any idea on how to proceed from here?

So I'm having the same issues as OP and this is apparently the only thread on the internet where anyone is experiencing this issue. MetroPCS 769 running JB. The phone POSTs and gets to the metroPCS carrier screen but goes to a white screen that just says "encrypting" with a blank progress bar, and that one app crashing. Every other reboot I get the Android recovery screen with the robot and a progress bar, and it reboots back to the "Encryping" screen. I can't even force the phone into a recovery or factory reset mode.

I assumed it would but at this point it's been going for ~14 hours with the "Time Elapsed" stuck at 13 seconds.
Guess I'll just let it sit some more.

Trying to go back to Stock P769

I recently installed CyanogenMod with the Unlock Bootloader for noobs and I noticed the internal SD wasn't mounted. So I tried to flash an ICS ROM to see if it would work but it didn't. I was stuck at the boot screen. I tried restoring an ICS CWM backup and a JB backup but it didn't work. Currently, I have a flashed JB backup with a messed up touchscreen (because of the way I unlocked the boot-loader). It won't boot and I don't know how I can install the stock ROM. I really just want my phone to work at this point. I don't know if there's any way to use the offline method to flash a .kdz since I can't access android. I tried hard resetting, but when I do it starts up Clock Work Mod which I believe happens because of the way I unlocked boot-loader.
I'm trying to use this guide to fix it using SW upgrade. I did find a .bin and .fls which i'm downloading right now.
If anyone could help or give some advice that would be great. I really just want to use my phone, I don't care about flashing a custom ROM right now. As long as my phone works, I'll be happy.

Let me know if this works for you! Also you can do the offline fix just as long as you can get into S/W Upgrade mode. But I am curious to see if you can use the bin/fls files tool that you mentioned to get your phone working again.

Thanks for the reply! I'm planning on trying this method out tomorrow and ,if you don't mind, could you please elaborate on how I can do the offline fix with S/W Upgrade mode? I'll check back on the forum tomorrow!

Well just get your phone into S/W Upgrade mode and follow this tutorial. Getting into S/W Upgrade:
1. Get stock ROM here.
2. Turn off your phone
3. Press and hold the vol + button while inserting USB to computer
4. Keep holding the vol + until you see the S/W upgrade mode
5. Flash ROM with tutorial mentioned above.
Good Luck!

Isn't that just an infobank of all the KDZs? I'm pretty new, but can you flash a kdz with the offline method? To clarify, I was asking how to flash the kdz with the offline method in S/W upgrade mode. So ROMs/KDZs are essentially the same, right?
Edit: I read everything over again and realized what KDZs really are. I'm just wondering now if I could just hard reset in some other way because the LG Update Tool doesn't recognize my phone even though I see all the drivers. It's stuck at 15%.
Edit 2: I tried the method I suggested and it resulted with "Magic number does not concide".
So I'm stuck here with a phone that is stuck in bootloop, and has CWM installed. Can anyone help?

alright, this is all from memory but the offline flash didnt work as well for me when stuck in weird bootloops.
Step one-going back to online flash---->
A---
the easiest way i found was to go to C:/windows/system32/drivers/ect/hosts
right click>open with notepad
there should be two lines at the bottom
"127.0.0.1 csmg.lgmobile.com
127.0.0.1 csmgdl.lgmobile.com"
i would cut them out and paste them in a text doc in the same folder for reference later...
but either way you should remove them from the hosts file and save
B----
Make sure your small server is closed! once you minimize it it should go down to your status bar (shttps)
Step two-LGMS---->
make sure you have LG mobile support installed or install it.
open lg mobile support
install needed drivers for your phone
power your phone off/remove the battery
put battery back in
connect it to your computer holding down the volume up button
S/W UPDATE mode should pop up, if it doesn't preform and hardreset and try again til it works (it will)
then in the top right corner there should be a button or two click them both until you see
"restore update" or Update restore or something to that effect
select that
and let it ride man
i got my phone ****ed many times and just had to keep redoing this until it worked. if your bootloader is truely unlocked you can probably go through all that again and get CM10 working, i did but im still working through kinks.....
GOOD LUCK feel free to ask any more Q's about this process if you run into any problems

Hello! Sorry for the late reply. Before I start, do you mean LG Mobile Support form when I unlocked the boot-loader, if not could you provide a link to it? And by the way, when I tried hard resetting, the phone sent me back to CWM, any ideas why?
I was reading the CM10.2 notes yesterday and I realized there isn't supposed to be an internal SD card showing up when you plug in your phone to your PC. So I did tried fixing what wasn't broke.
Anyway, thanks for the info!

Such a late reply, sorry! I did nothing. Before you replied I flashed CM10.2 but never bothered to boot up my phone. Preparing to connect my phone to my comp, I couldn't start CWM so I figured " I'll just leave my phone plugged in for a few hours." Two hours later, my phone has a blank screen, i'm thinking "This shouldn't be blank? What the hell?." I pressed the power button and was greeted with Cid. I screamed out loud: "**** yeah!"
If people have the same problem as me all I did was: Reflash my my phone with 10.1, stock, 10.1 again, and then 10.2. I did that, only that.
What's funny is that I never checked to see if my phone was working after I flashed CM10.2. :silly:
Can't wait for Kit-Kat. Thank you for keeping up with my post, CROSSFREEZE I appreciate it!
Edit: I might submit a really specific and simplified version of the "Unlock Bootloader for Noobs P769" for the take of contributing.

Okay, I have a Note 3 DCNO prod test Verizon phone what can i do

Okay, so I have this phone and the info attached to the imei DCNO Prod Test phone. It has the following build listed N900VVREBMJ5 test-keys. I checked for root access with a app and it didn't have root access. I tried to root with odin3 root_de_la etc and it came up with an error and was basically soft bricked. Was able to reload the pit file and eventually get it working again. I clearly don't know what I'm doing and bought this phone online and have learned very little since last night. It loads up with the custom logo etc etc. I'm looking load a regular stock rom onto or just a custom one, but no matter what I do I get an error.. Can anybody help.. thanks
Do you know if SecureBoot is enabled? Reboot into Odin/Download then take a picture. Also, under your battery, what does the label say?

+1
Turn off phone, turn it on holding power button + home button + down volume button and see if it say secureboot enabled. If it doesn't you might become very famous.
