[Q] [Not Registered on Network] I've Tried Everything! - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S4 I337 off someone online and went on ebay to get the unlock code for it. The phone was initially locked to Telus (Canada). I put in my Bell simcard and it worked great, until three days ago. I tried making a call and it received the message, "Not Registered on Network".
I did all basic troubleshooting:
- took the battery out and put it back in
- factory reset the phone
- tried different simcards
- got a NEW simcard
- tested my simcard in another phones and it worked fine
- I even ROOTED MY PHONE!
- I tried the *#0011# unlock but it doesn't bring me to the full debug screen
I really don't know what to do any hope there's someone out there who can help.

[Q] Help! Seemingly unlocked SGSII does not work with all networks?

Hi,
I'm new to both this forum and android, just switched from iphone and already running into the same dead end that I was trying to avoid. Hope to get some suggestions on solutions before trying sell it off again...
I bought a second hand SGSII which is from the UK (T-mobile), and with the help of my brother who has a SGSII and have been on android for a while, I debranded/rooted changed ROM, Kernel and Modem firmware. Before doing this I noted that it did not work with the network I am on but it did with another (both Swedish). After rooting etc I tried again, still does not work (I've tried several sims from my provider, none of them work, still only the other provider). I tried using the Sim Unlock app on Market but it is of no use: It DOES NOT ASK for a sim unlock code on start up. In fact, the unlock app worked and gave me such a code but I cannot use it. Also, I tried plugging in the code using a few of the call codes but it was of no use. And when I put *#SIMLOCK# into the phone dialer everything says 'off'.
Does anyone have any idea of what to do? I cannot go back to Samsung as I do not have a receipt. I hate to think that I have to end my use of Android before it ever started but I have searched my problem for days on end and neither me nor my brother can think of anything.
Any help most appreciated!
Cheers Matt

Network working: Comviq (Sweden)
I am confused did you buy an unlocked phone . If not did you get it unlocked .
jje
JJEgan - sorry if I was unclear. I do not actually know for sure, but as I have never seen the screen on startup where it asks for the unlock code I suspect that it must have been. It now - same as it has been for as long as I have had it - works only with one network which has nothing to do with T-mobile (on which is was originally).
I only know of one way of unlocking, i.e. the unlock app on Market. If there are others I would be very interested!
Phone may require you to enter the networks APN settings manually .
You may not have the correct CSC file for your network for automatic connection ,
jje
Hi - been busy the last few days and unable to try getting the phone to work. I cannot enter the APN settings (which should only have to do with internet?) as I cannot connect to any network in the list - I get "unable to select network". I've tried multiple official firmwares with both only NEE (Nordic) CSC and multi-CSC (where I chose NEE) and none work. Any other ideas?
Cheers

[Q] S3 lost coverage after few months

Hi. I bought an s3 for my wife .
The phone was unbranded and. She was using TescoMobile until 4 days ago when she lost signal coverage.
We swapped the sim card from Three network and everything was working.
The next day we went to Tesco to get another sim card to test and nothing happened. The phone picks up the internet signal but we receive a message "your sim card is not allowed to connect to this network".
We went to Meteor shop - this same not allowed, O2 this same, Vodafone is working.
I installed the 4.1 Android to see if it works. The same happened. I unlocked the phone to see, but the same, only two networks are working with the phone.
What do you think has happened with the phone ?
Phone is going to Samsung for the warranty repair on Tuesday.
If the phone works properly with a different SIM then it's the SIM/network problem.

Hi,
So where is the issue? I rooted the phone, unlocked, changed the ics to jellybean and the same issue arises.
In Ireland there are the following network providers:
1) Tesco mobile (using o2 network) - sim was working for few months and stopped.
2) O2 - their sim cards are not working
3) Vodafone - sim is working fine
4) Meteor - sim is not working
5) Three - sim is working fine
6) Emobile - not checked.

One JB test leaked build will not fix a problem .
3 Sims work fine and rule out a phone problem .
Do the two non working sims work in other phones in the same location .
Possible you have faulty network settings /APN .
I would say back up data and try a factory reset first except you now have non Samsung firmware on the phone .
That voids warranty so you will need to remove it before returning .
your sim card is not allowed to connect to this network".
Not allowed possibly phone blocked IMEI .

I was talking with Tesco Mobile - IMEI is not blocked on their network.
Original software 4.0.4 have this same issue. APN setting are ok - checked with the HTC Wildfire also with Tescomobile.
Repair company said that they don't care if is custom rom, they will put back the original software and start testing the phone, everything under warranty.
Once i went to friend who bought a S3 from Tesco mobile and i his sim card is not allowed to connect on my wife phone. Wife sim car is connecting to the internet but to network

[Q] Can't seem to fully reflash SG Note 2 with stock ROM. Help please!

Hi, and firstly, thanks to any and all who offer their knowledge to assist my conundrum.
I recently purchased a Bell Canada version of the SG Note 2 (i317), I am on Telus so I attempted to Unlock the phone. I looked online and found people were having success unlocking these phones for free using the *#197327640# method, (whereby you go into the service mode, turn off the PERSHO_256 and then INITIALLIZ).
I tried this method and the phone then seemed to work with my telus sim, but only for voice, not data. When I put in a Bell SIM from a friend, both voice and data worked fine - which tells me its not a hardware (radio) issue. I also tried using another friends Telus SIM and had the same results as mine - which tells me it's not a SIM error. Also, all the settings in the mobile network area appeared to be correctly set up.
So, my next step was to try and reflash the phone to the stock Bell ROM and then just buy an Unlock code. I downloaded the stock ROM (2 different ones actually) and used Odin 3.07 to reload the ROM. I've tried it several times now, with both Bell ROMs and each time it says it's been successful, but the phone remains in the same, partially unlocked state.
It seems as though by using the PERSHO_256 method I have permanently, PARTIALLY unlocked the phone. I can't seem to re-lock it by installing the stock Bell ROM, and since it's unlocked, I can't get the foreign SIM error to come up to enable me to put in my purchased unlock code.
If anyone has any insights, it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
-Luke
You should ask questions about a specific device in its own Q&A. (unless it doesn't have one). Cuz people there have the same phone and will know exactly what to do.
LIFE! IT'S WHAT YOU MAKE OUT OF IT!
Will do, thanks for the tip!

Perso Lock (Sim) Help Please

Hi All,
I'm at a loss, would be tremendously grateful if anyone could help me save my galaxy:
- My phone is an 850F, purchased sim-free from Carphone Warehouse in the UK. It is rooted.
- Recently I inserted a new sim card. The phone worked perfectly well for a week.
- Upon rebooting yesterday, the phone awoke to a message stating the sim was locked and prompted me to enter a code.
- The phone could no longer utilise the network.
To troubleshoot:
a. I inserted the sim in another phone - the sim worked fine in this other phone.
b. I tried 2 other sims for different countries in my 850F (O2 UK, T-Mobile US) - both of these sims seemed to work fine.
c. I tried a friend's sim in my phone (on the same network as my problematic sim) - it also didn't work.
d. I contacted the network of the new sim, they suggested I try 2 different 4 digit unlock codes - both failed.
e. I received a new sim from the same network - using it presents the same error message and prompt to unlock the sim.
f. Finally I wiped the phone, re-rooted and installed a new rom (Cyanogen 12).
- This has not solved the problem. In Cyanogen I receive the message: "Phone is Perso Locked". Again I am prompted to enter a code.
Thanks for reading, any help or suggestions would be immense!
Cheers,
Tal

SIM card problem

So I have my i9300 for a couple of years now and everything worked fine until I moved to Germany a couple of weeks ago (I come from Bosnia and Herzegowina). The phone was bought in Bosnia and I have a SIM card from the bosnian telecom (BH-Telecom) which worked fine. Then I bought a SIM card here (congstar) and my phone couldn't use it because of the network SIM prompt. I realised that that feature was kind of "blocked" (sorry but it's the first time I'm doing this) so I had to unlock it. I tried installing various versions of stock ROMs (including all German) via Odin on my phone, but everything stayed the same. I found this app:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spocky.galaxsimunlock
But it said that I had to root the phone and after I did that also to change my IMEI which changed during the hole operation. Fortunately, I wrote it down before. But I can't change this "new" one to the old in order to get the "simunlock" app working. I used:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vivek.imeichanger
and
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.phoneinfo.changer
But after I write down my old IMEI and click Apply I reset the phone (as the popup says in both apps) and type *#06# the IMEI stays the same. Not only there, but in all other apps that I used. And well, my old SIM doesn't work either. My phone shows that "blocked SIM" icon for both SIMs.
Please, for the love of God someone help to at least make my old SIM working. Unlocking my phone completely would be amazing.
Help
Firstly, you cannot unlock it if it has ever been on 4.2 or higher. The old method was nvdata edit but it is obsolete on updated phones.
The quickest cheapest way is to take it to a phone shop and pay.
You need to be on the stock rom that came with the device from factory.
