(Sorry this is really a issue about Tablet P, but there isn't a forum just for P so I think I have to post it here. )
I just updated the release 2 on my tablet p, and found that the bottom screen is weird... it keeps flashing and the image quality is far worse than the top screen.
I want to reinstall the update / just go back to the system before update (downgrade)
It seems that there is an option for install update from sd card (official recovery), but i can't find the update file.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Use AiO, root your tab, and apply "rescue-backdoor".
Reboot, and your tab will get notification about OTA update,
it should be the oldest available firmware for your region.
Download, install, done.

Is there a way to change the region of my tablet? so that I can download a firmware from other region? (like changing the CDA or something)

Yes, but please DON'T USE Region Changer function in AiO with P tablet!
For now it has got regions only for tablet S,
so it will be incorrect for your device, even you could brick it.
Its possible, but I don't have other regions data for P tablets.
If you would get the data from device region which you need,
then I could give you insctructions how to change it.

@condi
This is just my opinion, but I honestly do not think the risk are that high from installing the OTA for the Sony Tablet S to the P. The reason is because I believe they use basically the same update file, but the system hardware divides the features and functions by itself. This is just my theory and has not been tested! DO NOT BELIEVE ME OR SOMEONE ELSE... (especially condi)
Also, just in case would it be too much trouble if you could add the region data for the P tablets if I could provide the data for you?

I have just done what you suggested:
Use AiO, root your tab, and apply "rescue-backdoor".
Reboot, and your tab will get notification about OTA update,
it should be the oldest available firmware for your region.
Download, install, done.
And now I am trying to root it again, and i can't.
The screen turns RED, and saying it's unrootable.
What happened reinstalling the firmware wouldn't change the kernel does it? I rooted the tablet with the same version of firmware before...

The build 10 kernel issue doesn't affect the Sony Tablet P (unless it is the USA, maybe...?), as my kernel is build 10 and I have rerooted many times.

seems like I have got the unrootable kernel of tablet p somehow LOL quite sure it was build6 before I reinstall the firmware (and it should be the same one!!)
Baseband: R2A07
Kernel : 2.6.36.3 [email protected] # 1
Build number: THMAS0022400
probably will need to get a refund from the seller then...

no, i did everything the same as last time i rooted it successfully.
but this time the root program screen turns fully red after the "daemon started..." and saying my device is not rootable, kernel version exploit vulnerability has been locked down, need to wait for devs to find another way.
i even deleted the extracted folders and extract them again; and deleted the drivers and reinstall them again.

wait a minute, you've downgraded successfully yes?
If yes, then now you should have android 3.2,
which in many cases was not rootable.
You can still go back to newest 3.2.1 firmware,
via another ota update notification, from current version.
And the same question like Mahaco asked,
is your screen now better?

no I didn't downgrade. I just did what you suggest - reinstall the newest update again. (apply "rescue-backdoor" on AIO)
so it was from 3.2.1 release 2 -> 3.2.1 release 2
and the screen stays the same. it's automatically unrooted after the reinstallation
Now I can't root the tablet again....
---------------------------
Just used Root Explorer to check the Build.prop file (read-only)
It's written "build6" in the file but in the setting it's "build5"... Also, in build.prop, the region is stated as "US", but my tablet is a UK version. (the model number printed on the tablet body)
maybe the rooting + apply "rescue-backdoor" permanently changed something? installing different region's firmware onto my tablet so that it cannot be rooted again?

I find myself with a big problem. I just got a new Huawei Ascend D1 (not quad) and I am having MAJOR issues. My programing friend decided that he was going to root it for me and add the play store to it. He didn't and now now it won't boot. Near as I can tell, he did something to the system file, based on how gapps seems to be installed. Anyway, I can boot to the splash screen and put it in download mode. I can get to the bootloader, but it fails to allow me to flash the factory ROM back....something about a signature failure. I really need help. I have some knowledge of ADB, but seem to be failing. Can anyone help me?

I was able to get some info on what Z did. After rooting the phone with Root Bin4ry v18, he copied the contents of the System folder in the gapps package, using es file explorer, into the system folder of the phone. He then restarted the phone and now it goes straight to bootloader and will not flash the ROM. Unfortunately, I could not tell you what firmware was on it other than the latest one. The one bright spot in all of this is that Z made a copy of original system folder. I think I just need to get that back into the system folder on the phone and I should be all set.

have you try data wipe in recovery ?
if no so check and try wiping :good:
That was the first thing I tried.
Hello Everyone,
I badly need help on my Huawei Honor U8860 phone. I have recently updated it from 2.3.6 to 4.03 over WIFI and the update went smoothly. So now here is what my phone have:
Kernel Version: 3.0.8-perf-00059-g3a757a2 [email protected] #1
Build Number: U8860IV100R001C00B923SP01
I have not rooted the phone at this time. It was working fine until 2 days ago when I started getting messages on the screen like:
"Unfortunately, 2D Home has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Google Play has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Contacts has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Settings has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Google Play Music has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Browser has stopped"
And so on, and so forth. It seems that all apps and processes have stopped when I try to use them so I literally can't use the phone. I went through several threads here just trying to restore my phone back to a
working state. I tried to do the following in order but without success:
1.) Factory data reset / erase everything - the phone boots to the recovery menu then it formats the /Data, /Cache and /HWUserData then it reboots. After reboot, the phone is back to where it was before the factory data reset with everything in it including downloaded apps.
2.) Manually uninstalled all downloaded apps. Removed screen lock (just to see if phone behavior changes). Then rebooted the phone but after reboot, all the apps are still installed and the screen lock is back as well.
3.) I tried to Force Update with the following official ROMs: B886, B919 and B923 but I always get the message "Update failed" during the update process.
4.) I downloaded the file "recovery-u8860-en.img" so I can replace the "recovery.img" file . Rebooted the phone w/ the pink screen and connected it to my PC but there is no USB mass storage device mounted.
5.) Finally, I tried to root the phone. I enabled USB debugging. I installed the ADB drivers then I downloaded the U8860 root tools and rootexplorer.apk. When I ran the "root-me.cmd", it tried to copy some files to the phone but it failed. The error was "read-only file system".
So it seems that the problem is because of the "read-only filesystem". I does not permit/allow any changes made to the phone. Can you help me restore my phone?
Please.. Can somebody help me on this?
Thanks, clint2rose

what do you mean by flashing your current ROM? Just like any other stock ROM put the dload folder on the sd-card and start the update procedure either from the settings menu or via the boot-key-combination.
Yes the way you discribed is the correct one for flashing those patches, If those patches also don't work, I'm out of ideas, sorry.

Thank you once more for your time. Most of the thread I read regarding these patches often used the phrase" you have to flash the current version of your ROM using the patch"...
And yes I created dload folder, place the UPDATE.APP and put it on the sdcard. I turned off the phone and removed the battery. Then I pressed vol+ vol- and power on/off button. The firmware update went to about 70% installing before displaying update failed.
I guess I will have to bring my phone to a repair center. My only problem is that there is no Huawei service center at my place (I reside here in Saudi Arabia). I got the phone as a free device on a broadband package and the warranty is already expired. I'm a little worried to take the phone to the small mobile repair shops as they might screw up the phone even more. Huawei is not a popular device here unlike iPhone, HTC and Samsung Galaxy.
As I understood that your device is rooted, you should get some custom ROM and try to install it.

you don't need to be rooted, you only need to have a custom recovery deployed (which you can either do with root permissions, or by using the pink screen method, but some newer stock roms (you said your on 932 or something? last non-locked working is b919) this has been locked and the device will not boot if the kernel or the recovery image has been manipulated.
I think you will have to find some (huawei-certified!) repair-center, small do-it-all phone-shops probably won't be able to take care of this problem for you.. I'm sorry but I don't see any other solution

Ok. I will try to find a repair-center experienced in Huawei devices. I have one last question if you don't mind. Is it possible to erase everything on the phone? As in completely erase or reformat after which there will not be an operating system on the phone. I read in some threads that this is possible w/ custom recovery but I want to know if it is also possible for phones without the custom recovery. I'm hoping there might be some tool or something..

Have you find the solution yet? I have the same problem. Somehow my phone system is "locked". I can't install or uninstall app. Some google apps keep showing not responding. Everything changes i made, keep showing up after the phone rebooted.
This was happen a few days after I upgrade to ICS B932SP01 and rooted my phone (to remove original chinese apps).
Luckily i have friend in huawei indonesia. He gave my u8860 to the technical support. But the result was no good.
They try everything, even install my phone with the original GB and always failed.
The last suggestion is change the phone machine, which is as same as buy a new phone.
I really appreciate is someone can help me here...

Greetings, I have a Archos 101b platinum tablet running kitkat and I have been searching around the internet but I just can't seem to find anything about rooting for my tablet.
I would really love to root it and make it possible for apps/games being installed on the SDcard and if possible get an adblock on it. but to do such things I seem to need root access but the amount of information on how to do it for this tablet is so minimal(None) it's driving me crazy.
If anybody is able to help me with this I would really appreciate it.
Extra info:
Android version: 4.2.2
Firmware version: 4.6
Kernel version: 3.3.0
Need Root
Really need helpon this topic guys!
I'm also trying to gain root (even if just temporary) on a 101b platinum, just to remove the google system/app guff.
I assume this is a Generation 10 tablet since it follows "GEN10 TABLETS" in the drop down list for documentation on archos's website.
What I found so far is;
To get to USB debugging you have to press Settings > About > Build, several times to get Developer options, which seems paranoid since ADB alone is nightmare to install and use.
adb root, throws an error about not allowed in production builds.
tried installing the SDE, but it seems the recovery firmware update only accepts ZIP files, so I tried zipping up the AOS file, but the update just errors with "wrong footer".
Tried the Paul/Modoco Gen9 root, but the /data/local folder is locked from user access afaics.
I'm thinking either forcing the SDE on somehow or a firmware mod is the direct solution to root, but I'd ideally like a less destructive version of modding.
Update:
Tried iRoot (formerly vRoot) and Kingo ROOT without any success.
Seems Kingo ROOT goes through known exploits to, I'm suspecting it's been locked down in newer Kitkat.
I doubt a patched firmware will be around until Archos issue a stock one (it's currently missing from the list)
Quick post;
I've noticed a few other people have had the Kingo ROOT crash the boot process on the Archos, and think it's bricked. It's not, if your tablet (or nearly any new consumer electronics) refuses to shutdown for any reason, press and hold the power button until the device powers off. I thought it was common knowledge, but it seems not.

I have the issue from KingoRoot that everytime I boot up the tablet starts from initial setup so I have to set it up every single time it is switched off.

Went and got a refund. Couldn't be bothered.
Hi guys!
This is my first time to post a thread in this forum, I just bought a Samsung Note with model SHV-E160S, Android Version 4.0.4 and Build# IMM76D.VH29. I know that this is a Korean Variant and I'm using it here in Philippines (I can send SMS -- Openline). I don't know if this phone is already rooted, I don't know how to check.
What I'm trying to accomplish is to upgrade this phone from 4.0.4 to 4.1.2 then later on upgrade it to Android Lollipop 5.1 and I don't know how. It will be a great pleasure if someone help me or direct me on what should I do.
I'm totally new to android devices and I'm not familiar on how to upgrade, update or root an android device.
Thanks!
Hello guys, any ideas? Thanks!

Thanks!
You'll be able to find your firmware here https://mega.nz/#F!IxJTDDQQ!TTgzxjX8d7EnzemoIj0ogg
4.1.2 was the last official update from Samsung for your device. If you want to update to newer than that, it will have to be done via updating with a custom recovery and custom rom, such as TWRP recovery and CyanogenMod 11 or 12/12.1.
Follow upgrade instructions from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997 and sub your firmware file instead of N7000.

Thank you es0tericcha0s for this information.
What I'm trying to do right now is updating my SHV-e160s from 4.0.4 to 4.1.2 using Kies v2.6. Unfortunately, I'm getting this error "Failed to run firmware upgrade: unknown error.". Until now, I'm afraid to update my firmware manually as I don't have much knowledge to do that.
1) Download firmware and Odin
2) Open Odin as admin
3) Load firmware in PDA or AP slot depending on which version of Odin used
4) Boot to Download Mode and plug in your phone
5) Once Odin recognizes it ( will show highlighted - COM:xx where "xx" is any number, doesn't matter which ones) hit start
6) Grab a drink and a snack and come back in 10 minutes or so
7) If device bootloops, reset in recovery
Once the files are downloaded, the whole process takes less than 10-12 minutes or so. Everything you need is in the guide I linked to besides the firmware you need, which is in the Mega link. If you need a video guide, there are dozens on YouTube. I find it much easier to use than Kies and once you have it working, then there are not many things you will do that restoring with Odin and a factory reset won't get you out of.

Hello, sorry I forgot to ask, will this root my device? I'm afraid I might bricked it.
No, this is just the official update. As long as the download is good and you follow those directions, you won't do anything that won't be easily recoverable if it doesn't work right away. Soft bricking is not a big deal and nothing you would do here would cause anything worse unless you unplug the phone in the middle of something important.

And because you'll probably ask... It's easy to root. Just download Chainfire's SuperSU zip, put it on your phone's storage and use Odin to install TWRP recovery (just like you do with the whole firmware package) , boot to recovery before it boots to the OS and install the zip. Reboot and enjoy.

Hello again es0tericcha0s, I haven't tried the instructions that you gave me yesterday as I'm still downloading the firmware, last night I encountered an issue after enabling my Bluetooth, something like "NFC Service has stopped." just keeps on popping up. So I turned off the bluetooth then restarted my phone, it went well for a while.
After that, I enabled my 3G Cellular Data to check what was NFC service error is, after a few minutes, I lost my signal, phone turned to No Service, then in Settings -> About Phone, I got an Unknown Baseband.
EDIT
I got No Service since last night up until now.
EDIT Oct. 13, 2015 9:49 AM +08:00 Manila Time
I manage to update my phone from ICS 4.0.4 to JB 4.1.2. But still, my baseband is Unknown and I have no signal.
If it did that before you tried to flash anything...that doesn't sound good. Hard to say without testing it, but kind of sounds like the baseband chip (hardware issue).

I also though of that, hopefully not.
When I first got the phone, my gf sent me our pictures via bluetooth , no issues occured. After a while, I noticed that there are so many photos of the previous owner (around 1000+) and mp3s (around 1000+ also). So I connected the phone via usb to my pc and deleted all those pictures and mp3s inside the My Computer -> SHV-E160S -> Phone (Computer\SHV-E160S\Phone). After doing so, I started to encouter some issues, when enabling the bluetooth, the phone hangs and reboots then the error 'NFC service has stopped' keeps on popping up, until it went Unknown Baseband.
Now, the phone keeps on rebooting similar to the symptoms that it gets when baseband version is unknown.
I'm looking for solutions to fix the unknown baseband and saw the Back up and Restore EFS, I just need to root the device to try this fix. Maybe I'll post an update whether if I manage to solve this problem or not, if it didn't fix the issue then maybe the problem is the baseband chip. what a crap!
This is my reference for the EFS Fix

Thanks!
Rooting will be easy. Just install TWRP with Odin and use the SuperSU zip from Chainfire. Process should take like 5 minutes once everything is downloaded.

So I need to install TWRP first before rooting the device? Also I'm planning to use a rooted stock firmware which is 4.1.2, I just don't know the difference between UH24 and MH2, I've read that UH24 is already old and it's better to use a MH2 build and what is the Recovery UH24/MH2?
EDIT:
I forgot, I cannot check my current Baseband since it is still unknown.
EDIT: 12:30PM +8:00
I managed to get my Build#, it is MH2, I'm currently looking for a rooted 4.1.2 MH2 download link.
Way faster and easier to use the method I outlined, but either way should work.

Sorry, I'm really a root virgin here. While following your advise, I'm also currently looking at this guide -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1924535. I'm done downloading Tegrak for MH2, a small problem I encountered here is I don't have a folder named 'sdcard' in my phone, so I created one and copied the 'Kernel' .zip, also I copied it to usbStorage folder.
I'm about to flash the 'Recovery' .tar to my phone. Hoping a success result
Should be fine. Your phone's internal storage is seen by the OS as /sdcard. Doesn't matter where you put the file as long as you remember where it's at so you can navigate to it through recovery to install.

Oh crap, I didn't thought of that. Installing 'Kernel' .zip now.

Finally! I'm done rooting my phone, though I encountered another issues again. My Menu Button and Back Button does not work.
UPDATE: 4:08PM +8:00GMT
I think I found the problem as to why my Menu button and Back button doesn't work. I'v check my Baseband and it is -> E160SKSJMH1 and my Build # is -> JZO54K.E160SKSJMH2. Am I using a wrong FW as supposed to what I should be using? Which build should I install, the MH1 or the MH2?
Also, the Tegrak Kernel I've used is Build 48 for SHV-E160S MH2. I've also tried factory resetting the phone but the issue still exists.
Thanks!
UPDATE: 4:41PM +8:00GMT
Managed to fixed the issue by updating my Touch Firmware. Cool!
