Are you surprised by that?
The only shock to me is that the gap between the two is so small given GEL is coming from a much improved system in terms of system resource usage. I can only hope that once it is integrated with KitKat itself it is somehow lighter.
Seriously..what's the point? Is this HTC wildfire thread or am I missing something..

The Google launcher is mostly just placeholders for search. Its bare bones. All pure stock android is always basic. Everybody wants it and says they want the stock experience and then a couple of weeks go by and they are running a 3rd party launcher cause stock has no options. Lg made a launcher with options and therefore uses more resources.
I use nova launcher and I get 1GB to 1.2GB of free ram after I cleared taskmanager. BTW I also disabled a some apps.

There is a reason 3 gigs gonna be next std. Oems are great inventing but carp at optimizing. Well used ram is good use, wasted ram because daemons and launcher tricks you don't use is just a waste of resources.
I'll test the launcher, autokiller is a bit to aggressive when low on memory, imo.

I know why it lag,
Forgive me if I say anything wrong.
First, it is a mid-low end phone. If I'm right,it don't have a or a dedicated gpu. And the processor clock is around 600-800mhz? (Can't find this processor information)
And without a gpu, games can't load well.

This is true. Your device is actually a low end device. Having only 128mb - 179mb (accessible) ram (which is a major factor) would cause lag.
Go launcher is a Ram hog! It doesn't bother the gaming performance on my G2. I suggest try a different launcher so you can get more ram. I'm just taking a wild guess.

Go into setting then developers options. Go all the way down too Apps then background process limit. Choose At Most 4 processes. Even 1 process worked and made the loading thing go away. I don't see it anymore everything is instant.

Yes it limits the apps in background, so it "multi tasks" even worse.
More importantly, it doesn't solve the problem. Didn't help me at all. Some others report it may help at first, but it comes back.

It's actually Sense reloading when you exit from an app. Instead of going right to the home Page, you get a little rotating circle for up to 20 seconds. It's been a problem with Sense for a while on a number of different platforms with different updates. Been reported on both the LTE and the One X.

You should try ram manager app by juwe if your rooted. Works great completely fixes the multi task issue. I paid for it but i think theres a free one with less options. It works like v6 supercharger script, has a nice widget with available ram batt and temp. Give it a go, i always have between 150 and 250 md of available ram and apps don't get killed.

This was happening to me too. I accidentally put my phone into safe mode. I did a Google search and was able to get out of safe mode by turning off the phone and restarting holding the volume up. The phone doesn't seem to have the problem anymore. I also noticed that some of my widgets(tether and bookmarks) were gone, which might have been the problem in the first place. I hope this helps somehow.

Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Android is a totally different operating system than iOs (and also requires more Ram for itself)
It runs a lot of tasks in the background unlike iOs, which makes it a lot more adaptable and flexible but also more resource-intensive.
Secondly apps are categorized in groups, which are then consecutively killed based on their OOM (Out of memory) score, the lowest group being "empty app" and regrouping all apps that are no longer being needed. Typically "empty" is killed when there are 90MB left (customizable if rooted).
First off you may want to check what eats your Ram (Java is one of the worst languages for Ram in the entire universe) and kill/freeze/remove those processes.
Then take a look into zRam for extended Ram (swap) and set swappiness to 99
There once were experimental patches that forced selected tasks into swap instead of killing them but since they were hooked right into memory management, that used up lots of Cpu cycles and caused strange behaviours - sadly.
Btw, needing 1Gig for Ics or Jb is just bollocks. Galaxy S1's run awesome under Ics and even such devices as the 256MB Ace get a lot better.

Its only reload if you closed it on tasks
So dont do it
Sent from my GT-I9300
when you want to leave the browser in the background do you press back button or home? I have the experience with facebook app that if i press back than when i get back to the app it reloads as if i closed it, but if i press home then come back to the app it's there as i left it. As to the browser can't really say anything as I use maxthon browser and don't usually have reloading problems.
One such app is "Advanced tools".
However it is strictly recommend to leave those values alone unless you REALLY know what you are doing since tweaking these values without any knowledge will only worsen the problem or make your phone more or less unusuable with lag.

I explained a few posts earlier exactly when and how Android kills processes. Inactivity is a LRU factor but certainly not the trigger to kill an app.

Question
Sorry to bump an old thread, but has anyone actually found a solution to this problem? I've tried supercharger, minfree manager, RAM manager pro, and Galaxy Tuner. None have proven to be an actual solution to the problem that seems to be baked right in to the heart of all versions of Android after eclair (I'm actually on the Epic, not the GS3).
Is this fixable or am I just chasing my tail on this one?

Hello everyone i am starting this thread to see if there is anyone haave the sam problem.I tried basically everything (except rooting ) reinstalling the software, boosting up with tge different apps evrything but it seems to be not helpful.I mean ICS is not so bad itself on SXS but it looks like something is causing the lack of RAM and that's why my phone is bugging and being slow. For the RAM i found oyt that from the avaliable of 635MB i only have 48 free and than i have to restart my phone. So i tried Task Killers and stuff like that and honestly it wasnt so helpful. So o googled it and i found out that it is up to Android to kill apps when necessary itself, and that i shouldn't use any apps such as task killers just let the android work for himself.Than i think my android doesn't work well than.So anyone found a solution for this? And please if you would tell me if this is up to hardware or software thing?

This phone supposed to be 1GB ram, however it drop to 620mb+ because of the driver need to run this phone. It's mean that 370mb of the ram can't be modify to use.
My experience with my previous phone x8. It's ram is only 168 in stock rom. But nowaday dev could create kernel with updated driver which use less ram! So now it reachs 185mb!
I hope dev here could do the same to our beloved XS!

Do not worry about ram usage guys..In fact touchwiz is not this hog most make it to be. It has actually gotten better. This lag people complain of is not lag it's animations the way Samsung intended them to be. Some apps need more optimization in the way they function. Unused ram is wasted ram its like being rich and having money but not using it. Apps that sit in ram are NOT running nor consuming any CPU usage. Ram helps apps run and load quickly for daily task. These days its all about optimization. Touchwiz vs Aosp is a mute debate they are made to operate in the same fashion but diffrently. In short don't worry s5 has plenty ram and android knows what to do.
