24 hours vs 2 minutes - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

So I was transferring a lot of small files totaling about 600 MB to the internal SD via the micro usb from my laptop.
Laptop said it would be about 6 hours so I let it go overnight. When i got up in the morning, it tripped along the way and stopped transferring files (I'm guessing because the phone doing phone things got in the way... somehow).
After trying a few times again today I got fed up and decided to just put my microSD into the adapter into the laptop and all the files transferred in about 2 minutes.
so wtf. Is this a consequence of not having the mass storage option in the usb connection options?

why the transfer speed in the USB cable to SD card is so slow??

when i connect the phone to the laptop with the USB cable and try to transfer files to the SD card (8GB) the transfer rate is pretty slow
but when i take the SD card out and put it in USB adapter the transfer is very very! fast!! why is this diffrent? is there any solotion?
Yes, its allways very slow, on all telephones on the market! You mustlive with it, but i think, you can wait 5 minutes and you dont transfer 8 Gb 2 times a day...
no that's not true. In winmo file transfers @ the same rate as usb (might be a little bit lesser, but that's not noticable).

I think it depends on the hardware, as on my current HP iPAQ 910c (running Windows Mobile 6.1) transferring via USB cable is far slower than transferring directly to the SD card through an SD card reader. I remember trying to transfer a few GB of MP3s via USB, and it was going to take 2+ hours, but only took a few minutes using a card reader.

[Q] Gtab burned out USB stick while transferring 6gb of comics

This has happened to me twice when i tried transferring 6gb worth of comics from 8gb microsd card and once with usb stick seem it generates to much heat to transfer a very large amount of files it was also plugged in doesnt know if that matters or not but after about 10 minutes of transferring files it became extremely hot I turned off gtab and after that card and usb stick are no longer any good.Any one else run into this?
6 gigs of comics? Wow... and... LMAO!!!
Nope hasnt happened and never heard of it happening. Especially someone having 6 gigs of comics
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Ok done laughing. Why dont you connect it to your pc and transfer them that way?
Gtab>usb plugged in>flash drive plugged in pc
Or try bluetooth file transfer?
I done this transferring books. Look on market there are a lot of apps to transfer files even over wifi

I was rebuilding comp at the time and had some comics(alot) on sdcard and figured I would just try and transfer them that way.

Data Transfer Fix.

A while ago someone posted a thread about the file transfer from the tablet to PC being extremely slow (I can attest.)
Anyhow in a brief moment of laziness and curiosity I grabbed my HTC Thunderbolt USB cable (knowing it would fit into the nook --same size) and plugged it up for file transfer. Needless to say now my transfer speeds for a microshdc^4 are around 3~4mbs+.
^Not sure if this will work for everyone but if you have a alternate cable available give it a try, because it is working great for me!
Sounds like they cheaped out and used a cable that only supports usb 1.1 then. Good to know; wish I had a compatible plug from another device for this.

You can find cords cheap on ebay. If I have an extra you can have it if you want.

Yep, will probably buy one there if I find that it bugs me a lot. Good to know
Can you charge NT through the Thunderbolt USB cable? (Through the wall socket of course, since the Nook Tablet doesn't charge via PC.)
I'm trying to cut down on my cable clutter. It is really irritating that generic USB cables (and my Nook Touch USB cable) won't work for charging NT - my table is just a mess of wires now.
I dont think it's the cable. I have 10 different cables, Gal S2, Nook Color, Acer A500 etc.. Only when I transfer to Nook Tablet do i have problem (example, 12 hours to move 2.3g files). To get around it i been using dropbox and syncing the files wireless and it's superfast. But Nook color is perfect and everything else.
I ever used differnt combinations of cables on another PC but still no luck. When i plug it in, it sees all 3 Nook Tablet connections but it's so freaking slow.
Not sure why no one else didnt notice this yet. It's a pain to do the wiifi transfers when i know the cable would take 1 minute. I dont really think the unit is defective. Im not sure what else to try..
(ps.. all the PC's im using is Windows 7 64b)
12 hours for 2.3 GB's? Jesus Christ - It took me like 10 minutes to Transfer 700 MB of Music onto my NT - Somethings wrong either with your comp, NT or cables and or memory card - I'd look into it
Yup, i had a folder of all my droid apps. But even if i move 5 apps, it takes 10 minutes. It's freaking crazy, but everything else on it is working so good.. Great battery life, 10+ easily.

I agree 12 hours for 2.3 GB is super crazy. Next time I move some data I'll take screen shots for comparison (nook cable / htc cable)

Phone hangs on USB OTG file transfer

Hi all,
I'm experiencing a complete break down that requires reboot every time when I try to transfer some files to a USB key connected via adapter.
I can transfer small files no problem, but when trying an avi file roughly 2GB in size the progress meter in the status bar will get to 15 or 16% then stop, and the whole phone will become unresponsive, even after unplugging the usb cable. I've tried leaving it run for over an hour in case the file was transferring during the hang, but it didn't transfer.
I'm on a sim-free i9300 bought in UK, using AOKP milestone 6 with Siyah 1.5, and the usb key is NTFS.
Thanks

Extremely slow USB file transfer to microSD from PC

Hi, today i bought a 128GB microSD card (Samsung Evo Plus) and detected properly by S3. However during file transfer from PC through explorer to MicroSD I got a miserable 100kB/s speed. Yes, it is kB not MB. The MicroSD card should write at max 90MB/s.
I used to get around 30MB/s when transfer to internal storage.
What could be the problem?
Internal transfer from Internal storage to MicroSD card is around 25MB/s
File copied is single movie file 8GB. USB setting is File Transfer.
Regards,
Thanks.
Erm, i am not sure what happened, i changed cable and still getting slow speed. After disconnected from USB cable for a while and do other things, and reconnect again, I am getting around the same speed as internal storage 32MB/s. Really have no idea why i am getting slow speed before this.
