[Q] Root without unlocking boot loader? - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

I am looking to root my Xperia Z Ultra but I do not want to mess with the boot loader. Last time I unlocked it, 3 days later my battery died and Sony refused to replace it because the software was "Tampered with" which is completely stupid I know. Anyhow, I have been looking and I found Vroot and a couple others but they only work on Windows machines. Is there anything out there that can root the Z Ultra ( From a Mac ) without having to unlock the boot loader?
Thanks.

Install windows from bootcamp or.. not sure how well it would work if you run windows in vmware workstation as a virtual machine.
Or borrow a machine running windows from one of your friends

Using a MAC

How do I run OS, and rom loaders on a MAC. I would like to load a rom that fixes the wifi problem with my Verizon XV6800. Please can someone help. Thanks
You don't.
Unless your Macintosh has an intel processor and has some sort of Windows emulation (bootcamp parallels, wine, etc.), you can't. There isn't a way to do this straight from OS X.
Syncing your PDA with Mac is easy with the help of The Missing Sync or PocketMAC but updating your firmware, you'll have to use the next best PC in your area.
Good luck
Windows XP
Can anyone send me windows XP so I can duel boot and flash my XV6800 rom? I have parallels but no windows. Thanks

No. That's asking for wares which is against forum policy. You can download a trial from Microsoft and use it that way.
Be careful when running ROM upgrade tools within a VM on a mac. I got stuck in bootloader and the VM wouldn't see my phone at all. I had to find a PC in my closet to break it out I can only say this is true with Parallels though - VMWare may work better in this case but I've got no way of knowing.
try flashing from your microSD card

I had the same trouble.....funny my old treo could be flashed in a Parallels VM with no problem, and ESN repairs on sanyos also work in it.
I noticed that if you keeep the mouse moving, it will be more likely to complete the flash....however that makes no sense!
Thanks
Thanks for the replys. Sorry for asking for wares.

Locked HTC One Stuck in Bootloader

I was working on restoring my HTC one to stock since my SIM slot happened to break. In the process I must have messed something up and I can no longer get into any version of android, I am stuck at the bootloader screen.
My thinking is that if I run the RUU I will be able to kick myself out of this and have a functioning device, my problem is that I can't get windows 8 to identify my phone in fastboot to run the RUU.
Has anyone had any luck with wine on OS X or is there another way I can flash a firmware to my phone?

VMWare or Virtualbox works far better on OSX and I'd trust that vs Wine any day of the week. Got an old windows xp disc laying around?
I don't think XP would work since I have USB 3 drives on the MBP, but if it would thats an easy fix. I think I can find one laying around my house.

[Q] Ubuntu not recognizing the Z2

The topic tells the story I guess. On Windows I have no problem with connection no matter USB debugging is on or off. However under Ubuntu, I can not connect the device. It just not recognized. I have never had such problems with any of my android devices in the past.
I Googled a little but nothing I found helped. Hope there are other people using their computer with Ubuntu 14.04.
Ps: I am not an expert on Linux but I was able to solve some problems.
Thanks

I never use windows and I never had a problem with Ubuntu. I've always been on 14.10 since I have the Z2 but I has another Xperia before which worked fine on previous version of Ubuntu (since 13.04 I think)

So, if understood correctly you can connect your Xperia Z2 device to your Ubuntu 14.10 PC without making any workarounds?

Exactly, I just plug it in and it always worked. Maybe it is because I have adb and fastboot installed, I think they come in an android pack (I don't remember the package name).

I did not install them this time but my Nexus 7 2013 just works. So I am not sure if it's a add related problem.

failing to root my htc one v

Hi,
I keep failing to root my HTC One V. At first I used that Kingo ROOT thingy, which doesnt work at all. Then I decided to do it the old way. However, first of all, the bootloader unlocking program itself wont install. It says AdpWinApi.dll is missing, even after installing Android SDK. Next thing, when I get into my phone's bootloader, my windows 10 pc says that the usb is broken or something similair to that, while when connecting when the phone is turned on, it does show the phone and I can access all its files. Ive isntalled multiple usb drivers, and HTC Sync (which I closed afterwards, so thats not the issue) and yet, it doesnt recognize the phone when in boot mode. Help, please!
fyi the bootloader is still locked.
Kind regards,
me.

Sony Z3 Compact Tablet issues

Ok eventually got flashtool Xperia to work but no driver's for this device and it tells me I can only flash ftf files. when I go in to Xperia service menu it tells me I can unlock bootloader but on flashtool it tells me I can't so wether that is a driver's issue I'm not sure any help would be appreciated.
What do you want to achieve? The drivers are in the flashtoolsfolder.

On my laptop it tells me some fastboot driver's don't work with Windows 10 so it comes up wether a fail when I click on the bootloader unlock side of thing so is there a exploit or trick to doing it .
To install the drivers on Windows 8 or 10 you need to disable driver signing.
http://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how...8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/
Look at that walkthrough, do those steps, then when windows boots back up try installing the drivers. It should give you a warning that they're not signed but you can install them anyway.
(As always, do this at your own risk. Windows driver signing is there to ensure you don't install anything malicious but if you trust that the drivers your trying to install are OK this lets you get around the security checks and use them even without signing).
