Take this with a pinch of salt as it's far from official but:
Gaurav Hasabnis, an industry analyst and contributing editor of Fonearena.com posted on Twitter: “Something gonna come in Jan 2012. #sgs2 users gonna rejoice!”, followed by a second tweet: “Soon Mali400 gonna be in full use.”
The mentioned Mali 400 is the name of the GPU on the Samsung Galaxy S II. Rumors states Ice Cream Sandwich will utilize the the full potential of high-end smartphones better than previous Android OS, which leads us to believe that the ICS will be making its way to the Galaxy S2.

Thank you for the heads up. Hope GS2 will not take a long time to upgrade like the Samsung did for Galaxy S.
seems to match up with this
http://www.lifeofandroid.com/news_detail/ice-cream-sandwich-to-debut-on-android-handsets-in-weeks/
The worldwide release of Android 4.0 will begin in time for Christmas with Google’s Nexus S smartphone meaning the new OS should be broadly available for all compatible handsets by early 2012.

Hope this is true and not a rumors........waiting
They hvn't even released the 2.3.4 update in India.Jan 2012 s too early a date for us i guess .

If they won't release it officially, I'm sure we'll get a custom rom with 4.0 running as soon as the Galaxy Nexus is launched But good news, anyway!
Just think. If it's January 'officially,' then it could be December (or earlier) for us!
That's a great news. Though I think we'll get ICS unofficially before that. Anyone?

Wow this is great news. Now android is a step closer to WP7 and iOS in handling resources. +1 HW acceleration
Even if we are not getting the official update, i am sure xda developers will cook one for us.

Wow - official in 3 months? Testing should be out soon - shouldn't it? =p

Didn't Samsung drop development of 2.3.4 as they started 2.3.5
I still haven't got any official updates from 2.3.3 on a SIM free handset here in the UK.
Samsung UK have also tweeted that there is no time frame for getting ICS on the SGSII (read in to that what you want)
Think custom roms will be the only way forwards on ICS for some time.
Well that announcement is about Official release, NOT unofficial one. 70% users use Official ROM and like them, existing use this and that. Without a Stock ROM there won't be any Custom ROMs? Would there be?
Count me in those 70%.
We'll sure have some custom rom runnig ICS before the official one but I wonder what they'll do about touchwizz...
Looking forward to it

Yes it does.. it is in your section and says "Galaxy Note" in the title. Everyone here hates the international version, so why wouldn't it be about your version?

I don't hate the International version? I have never seen anyone here hate on the International version? I believe it is the other way around.
We really don't need to bicker, do we. Theirs\ours. They are all the Note. Get over it. Each has it's advantages\disadvantages.
Here's another report I was reading.

Wow am I getting tired of reading these same press releases OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER...
Yea, we get it, ICS is coming out for the Note in the coming months.
Given Samsungs track record, it isnt going to happen anytime soon.
Given ATT's track record, it REALLY isnt going to happen any time soon.
What the hell does 'coming soon' mean?
Talk to any Captivate owner if you want to get an idea here. There were press releases and blaring horns about Gingerbread is coming soon for the Captivate and guess what? The Captivate just got Gingerbread 2 months ago, and ATT couldnt even be bothered to push it OTA, it has to be installed via a PC. Oh yea, tons of press releases about an imminent release of GB for the Captivate too. Shame it took a year to get anything out.
While I understand newer people that are not familiar with how Samsung works might very well be getting excited about this and feel the need to post every link they can find about some rumour and speculation (of an ICS release) or YET ANOTHER press release stating the exact same thing the 50 press releases released before have stated but trust me when I tell you, all of this is alot of empty fanfare.
The international version will get ICS soon (probably 2 months (my guess June) until they BEGIN to start rollouts starting with Korea and ENDING with the United States and finally Mexico probably late this year around Christmas time at the earliest).
So let me spell it out for you, it isnt going to happen very quickly and I really wish people would stop posting these links. There are fifty billion threads on just the ATT Note forums alone about how ICS will be coming soon with no details beyond 'its coming soon', 'yay for more apps that use the SPen', and 'hey, its ICS'.
*sigh*
Given ATT's track record, it REALLY isnt going to happen any time soon
Why is everyone hating on ATT for this? I mean I can hate on them for about everything else. Are they not the ONLY one to release an ICS update so far for a non Nexus phone?
They released it for the HTC Vivid. Has any other carrier released an ICS update for a non ICS original phone? I'm currious...

I think people are not exactly comparing apples to apples here. Comparing the note to the captivate is pretty stupid. Att is pretty well vested in android now where as they were not before the captivate. By the time they announced gb for it, there were much better phones out. With att announcing ics for the note now and not having anything else as a flagship device I can see them working a bit faster than the captivate. Also, att released ics for the vivid before the vivids counterparts from other countries. I'm sick of people acting like they're fortune tellers because they used to own a ****ty phone that didn't get updated because there were better phones out. Oh and I own a craptivate myself
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
The LG Thrill got it's update to GB around the five month mark so att is getting better at releasing updates faster.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
I don't really care about the time frame. It's enough just to know it is being worked on. I am more interested in seeing how Google is going to kill fragmentation which ICS was supposed to do. People still have phones/tablets that will never see the update.

With the recent availability of the Galaxy Nexus directly from Google for $399, I am very tempted to make a purchase. However, the phone has been out since around November which means there is clearly something else on the horizon. Has anyone heard any rumors about when the next Nexus device is supposed to drop? If it is more than 6 months from now I have no problem spending the $399, BUT if we might get something sooner I will hold onto my cash! I am ONLY interested in discussing pure Google Nexus devices, so if you have any info leave a comment.
Well I suspect it will be around November again as that's generally when new android versions are released

Interesting. So we really might need to wait until November for another AOSP Android phone to be released? If that is the case I see no reason why I wouldnt buy the Nexus. Does anyone else have other info regarding a Nexus device release date?

I hope so, but based on past Nexus phones I have no idea
Nexus one: January 2010
Nexus S: December 2010
Galaxy Nexus: November 2011

That a long time from now, I might just need to grab a Galaxy Nexus. There is no way I will be using my Sensation then since I got it last June.
When will JB ROMS be coming to the samsung vibrant, i know that there is already some work for the g-nexus but nothing about the sgs models. Does anybody know when?
I'm assuming soon after Google releases the code for it.
android 4.1
I hope sooner rather then later
When it gets to devices such as the Nexus S, I9000, or basically any Galaxy S family device (first gen)
IT has the potential to run on the Vibrant.
I am also hearing that the Nexus S is getting an official google update, so if that is true, we will get it for sure.

The NOTE will get it for sure, no doubt about that, it just won't be through Samsung as they will want to put Touchwiz on top of it, which will take about 1 year, and by then the new version KAKA will be released.
haha
There is already an alpha version that was released

Looks like Google just released the JB code into AOSP..
Roms will happen when they happen If I were to take a wild guess, I would say in the in the future sometime.
Patience! Count your blessings that we have awesome devs that gave us ICS!

^ Ha, very punny sir... Very punny indeed.
Yes, and we should really encourage them by donating anything for their cause. They're not really getting paid to do this, but they are doing it anyway. I recently just donated $5 to a dev that has helped me through a couple of problems, may not seem much but a little can go a long way
I can't wait to see what all these developers and going to create now that the source code is out. It will be a while with some dev teams starting from scratch but it will be worth the wait.
Guys,
Jelly bean is already out, i'm starting thinking to get a replacement for my Dell Streak, it's already 2 years old and it seems slow nowadays, especially with no longer support from Dell itself.
Should i buy a samsung galaxy S3 now or should i wait for the next generation of android coming? Key Lime Pie or whatever its name will be..
Because chasing technology seems a bit tiring for me, i want to buy something that might still be useful in 3-4 years. I was dissapointed with Dell, even though the streak was a good device.
So, buy a decent android phone such as a samsung galaxy s3 or HTC one X now or should i just be patient and wait?
Thanks Guys
Well, Google is probably going to announce the next version of Android in 8 days, so can you be that patient?
Sent from my Droid using xda premium
It depends how you will use your next phone, if you want to try some custom roms dont wait, but if you are a regular user, maybe it is better to wait a while.
