If not, I would like to start it as a project and do the porting basically with your help. We could further do this together since Ubuntu-Touch is using the CM sources.
There is an Ubuntu touch port, check development section

Devs needed to build Android 4.2 for any MT6577 device - its huge community, but for now we dont have JB 4.2.
Here you can find full kernel and device sources. I hope that it can help.
Here is MT6589 kernel sources, maybe thats can help (all mt6589 devices works on android 4.2).
Maybe we can get cm 10.1? Here is CM9 booted on Mt6577.
For your work you will be thankful a lot of people.

lol
There's no JB 4.2 for MT6577
You can only get til 4.1.2.
BTW, Mediatek SOURCES are INCOMPLETED, that's why there isn't no CM rom's til this date.
Even the ICS Sources still lack some files.
You can say thanks to Mediatek, they use alot of proprietary sources!
Hellow everybody!
My device (Acer cloudmobile) has great hardware Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB RAM etc... but has almost 0 community for developers... so no 4.2.2 or 4.3 custom ROMs, just an cyanogenmod 10 (4.1.2).
I want to start compiling cyanogenmod 10.1 from source, but I need device and vendor trees. So here is my question: can i use device/vendor trees from the cyanogenmod custom ROM or do I have to create my own trees for CM 10.1?
Thanks a lot!

Hello respected developers,
We all now know that cyanogenmod has successfully been able to develop for Mediatek Devices by building official CyanogenMod ROM for Android One (MT6582) device. Now I want a help if anybody would like a new student.
I want to port this ROm to my Intex Aqua i14 which is also a MT6582 device and has Android 4.4.2 which is almost AOSP.
So can anybody guide me so that I can go ahead with my project I am intended to move ahead with?
Millions of thanks to the helpers.

The porting process is very easy but the tricky part is that you need to find ROM's with the SAME specs and with the SAME chipset
You''ll need Cygwin and Anroid Kitchen
You can follow this guide http://fabosums.blogspot.co.at/2014/02/port-any-rom-to-mtk-device-in-5-mins.html
Good luck and let me know if it works :good:
Android one got its kernel source released, and so the developer was able to successfully build cm11/from source, and fix all bugs
Most mtk phones don't have kernel source
Also android one's boot.img is apparently different from normal mediatek boot.img format
Anyway, cm can't do much about it
Ask your respective devices developer to build cm for it, if he can

I'm trying to create a ROM for this device from source since there is no custom ROM for this device. I have the Linux VM with the AOKP repo synced. The problem is finding the device's source.
Haven't tried to port a ROM yet.
Device info:
Lenovo A588t
MT6582M
4.4.2 KitKat

Don't like the idea of self bumping but
I'm currently trying to port an aokp ROM from another device to mine with android kitchen.
Any advice on how to create ROMs for this device without an available source AFAIK

Hello All,
I have one development board and ported CM12 on it, Now I want to port Ubuntu touch.
I'm following https://developer.ubuntu.com/en/star...ng-new-device/ guilde for porting Ubuntu touch but have some questions
1) I have build CM12 from source so do I need to download android source using "phablet-dev-bootstrap phablet" command ?
2) CM12 is ok for porting Ubuntu touch or do I need to switch back to CM10.1 ?
Please provide your feedback.
