4.4 rom? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Is anyone working on or have a stable or fairly stable kit Kat 4.4 rom available?

Does the actual stock ROM/update specifically for the CDMA or GSM S4 need to be released or leaked first or can custom ROMs be made for these devices before-hand?

They have it working on my Verizon Gnex, so I imagine it shouldn't be TOO hard. But there's always stupid little issues, like what 4.3 ran in to. I'm excited for it, works great on my Gnex. Cool features too

The touchwiz 4.4 does not have to be out first for an aosp based Rom for the s4. It would have to be out if you wanted a touchwiz based 4.4

Just a heads up Team Gummy has a 4.4 rom they have been working hard on. The only Issue I have that keeps me from using this as my daily driver is there us know option when you set an account up to sync google calendars. I use that for work every day so for me it is not quite ready yet.

I doubt it at the current time, maybe sometime on the future but it is still to new to be expecting one. If you want AOSP, which is what the Play Edition phones are, just flash an AOSP ROM, if you don't like the mods then don't use them.

I would LOVE this -- we could hopefully get some type of switch between the GE ROM and TW (Either stock or maybe Hyperdrive). I've been having troubles deciding between the two, and have basically created a hybrid for the time being using Hyperdrive as a base and Nova Launcher on top.

S4 slow?

I suggest flashing Hyperdrive ROM and following steps accordingly. This has been my savior everytime I try a new ROM. The developer is amazing. Check it out

Even stock is fast. I always turn off animations under dev options to give it more "snap". Stock or custom rom.

I'm on stock ME7 with force gpu rendering enabled and this is easily the fastest stock experience I've ever had. Only thing that's been faster was AOSP on my GS3/N2. I definitely can't complain.

Rocking Hyperdrive myself, Touch Wiz is the smoothest I have experienced.
I'm on bone stock me7 nothing changed. Faster then custom mdk ROMs I ran. I gave up. Updated to me7. IDC I have a nexus 7 for my crack flash toy. This is just my phone.

Most of the TW ROMs run pretty well, including stock. However, they all run like junk compared to aosp.

Run Dubbsys Google edition rom stock.
It has Google wallet, ir blaster works. Just a smooth Google experience we all wanted.
It also has the tw camera working, but still not fully operational, which is fine.

This phone is just plain fast. Unless you messed something up during a flash or installed an app thats causing a problem than I don't see a reason why it would be slow at all.

I'm running hyperdrive release 7. 8 is out now but haven't bothered to flash it yet. Really liking 7. I normally don't flash ever release. I skip a few here and there. I wait for a bunch of changes to be made before updating.

I never understood this...the TW ROMS I have ran have been just as smooth if not smoother sometimes!

Agreed. AOSP is a thing of the past. Time to grow and let go. TW is an amazing thing and I would really like more development from it. Hyperdrive is one of the best TW roms you can get for your S4 right now in my honest opinion. It is very solid and SBreen94 is an amazing developer. Always there for us fellow flashers.

Except when it comes to getting a fully functional camera experience
Well once carriers stop rom updates and tw development slows down, all that comes into effect is aosp since it's constantly being updated; that's in another year from now though.

I have a really hard time staying on an AOSP ROM at the moment...they all seem to have bugs and force closes...cm 10.2 is working pretty well for me right now and the new focus camera is pretty good...also Bluetooth problems as well...still a great rom though...TW is hard to beat though with everything functioning and working perfectly

Porting 4.4 from HTC One?

I was looking through the Verizon one threads, and I noticed that flyhalf has built a 4.4 ROM for them. Would that be fairly easy for a developer to port that to our device?

There's not really any point in "porting," since we can just build from the source using our device tree. If you look in the ROM request index that you'll see that a few people have been working on it. I don't think it's a huge priority though, because more stuff is probably going to be broken, and 4.4 Roms are pretty close to stock aosp for now. Once CM11 is ready we will probably start seeing some kit Kat builds.

MIUI ROMS?

Where are the MIUI Roms? I heard a really stable version came out for the at&t s4 and it looks good. Any word from anyone working on a port?

MIUI is a pain in the butt to port from my experience, takes a skilled dev to get it working nice on Samsung devices. From what I remember it takes a lot more than just apn changes to get data, wifi, etc.
