File support on 64 GB microSD (class 10) card - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Folks,
I recently upgrade the ROM to Stock Jelly Bean 4.3 (Ireland version) for Samsung Galaxy s3 i9300 and I had also purchased a 64 GB micro SD card which is class 10.
Before I flashed the ROM I had backed up all my data (pics, songs and videos) on my external hard drive.
When I copy all the files back to the my 64 GB sdcard..most of the file show to be corrupt and do not open with the respective app on my phone.
However there is nothing wrong with the files on the external hard disk they seem to be just fine.
Can someone tell me the reason for this and what I need to do to solve this issue..I have tried different formats like exFAT and FAT 32 but still the same issue..Please HELP

[Q] micro sd2 errors

I am stil on stock ROM 3588 with no mods. I have a few apps installed mainly games. I installed a 32 GB micro SD card. I have used the adapter to add music, video, DOC and PDF files. All files were added to new separate folders. I put card in with tablet off an then turn on. Nearly all folders and files end up in "lost.dir". I do get few music folders and files but 98% are gone. Am I doing this the wrong way or a way to correct this?
Does any ROM allow you to choose where to store downloads, internal vs exernal or installed apps to internal vs external memory?
I think the device only accepts up to 16GB MicroSD cards.
Thanks for responding Yarsis. I have read that several are successfully using the 32 GB cards.
Does anyone know if there is a difference between PC vs tablet formatting?
Hi,
I'm pretty sure the cards needs to be formated as FAT32 and at 2048 bytes. The issue you mention has been reported but as far as I recall proper formating should fix this.

copy ALL files........and HIDEN too
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Is your memory card a legit retail bought card? Reason I ask is because some eBay/Chinese memory cards are counterfeit, and they do not hold the purported memory. It may say 32GB, but once you try copying 32GB of data over, the card's data is corrupted.

Question about 4Gb file transfer limit

Hi guys, could someone please clarify why we can't transfer a file that has more than 4GB in size using MTP on Galaxy S3?
I search in this forum and I read 2 reasons why others also encounter this (Using other Android Device)
1. Because of the file format of the SD card being FAT32
2. Because of the file transfer limit (4GB) using MTP
[Questions]
A.) Could someone please clarify if MTP does really have 4GB transfer limit?
B.)And also I formatted my SD card using the format option IN my Galaxy S3, does the galaxy S3 format it to FAT32? (I have a 16GB Sandisk microSD card)
Thanks, I'm confused
Stick it in a card reader and format it under windows to exFAT and you won't have this problem
Hi mate, it works! Thanks!

[Q] Cant download anythng bigger than 4gb to external sd card

Cant download anything bigger than 4gb to external sd card. I have a T769 Blaze and have a 32gb external sd card installed, a sandisk hicap. I installed it factory and no luck. Read some forums and formated it to exfat, then ntsf, both read fine and can store up to 4gb but no more, tried all the various apps to get it to store when downloading but always get size limit error. How can I get my OS to allow bigger than 4gb to download to my 32gb sd card. Note: I have no issues when trying to move files from PC to phone, just downloading them from the Internet either by download site or torrent. Got some movies and software I need to get. OS is ics 4.0.4 rooted stock. I am a good pc geek but limited on android/linux skills.
Strange.

If you used an NTFS formatted SD card, you should be able to put a > 4GB file on there without trouble. You may have formatted the card as vFAT instead on NTFS. The problem would then be that your phone wouldn't be able to read and write to the NTFS file system (your PC would have no problem). The only file system that Android can read/write to that handles files larger than 4GB is Ext2/3/4. Of course, that means that your computer will have to have special software to read/write an Ext2/3/4 file system (unless you are running Linux on your PC, or you have a Mac). You can move the files from PC to Phone because you are probably writing to the phone's internal storage which is Ext4, and the MTP protocol is handling the file system issue that you would normally have if you tried to write to the file system directly.
Good luck, let me know if you need anything else.

So if I forrmat my sd cart to exr4, I'll be able to downlod torrents up to 4gb? Correct?

Android M SD as internal. Some questions related to it

Hi there guys.
I have Spice Dream Uno (Android one device) running Android M. I have some queries related to using SD card as internal storage.
I have Samsung EVO+ 32 GB card.
Now here's my question.
If i use sd card as internal then it says it would work only in this device one.
Now after i did it i used sd card adapter to transfer my files, but it didn't worked it asked me format my sd card.
So at this point i think its the best to have secure storage.
I only transfer files via usb cable(No problem at this).
Now,
1) If i do factory reset will this card still work on my device or do i have to format it by loosing all data ?
2) If i flash custom ROM MM based will the card and files still remain the same ?
This would be interesting for me, too.
