So i got my phone working (due to a helpful xda member)
flashed new firmware, but now i am getting NO SIM (even tried restoring old nandroid, and installing new rom, both same problem)
the thing is, it could be
EFS (didnt back it up, god dammit, never backed it up on s2) though IMEI is the same as phone *#06#
the micro sim slot (maybe i damaged it trying to get my old cut sim out of it before it stuffed up) 'is it easily damaged? could it be fixed?'
and nobody i know has a micro sim i could use to see if its my sim or damaged slot, or even software related
samsung, why you have to use MICRO SIM,
any solutions?
or should i just flash back to stock, and send it in for repair?
- i tried flashing a new modem via cwm (didnt work)
- factory reset (didnt work)
- phone company confirmed the sim is active (so its not the sim)
sorry for the recent questions, i never had any problems ever with my s2
You say IMEI is the same as the original .
Sim is activated but does it work in another phone ??? that is needed to rule out faulty sim card .
Does another sim work in the slot that is needed to rule out sim holder fault .

You should search mate.. seen this topic posted a number on times mate..

Im sure this is probaly a well known problem.
Sometimes my phone reads that there is no sim card in and i hsve to restrt the phone to get it back.
Is there a fix for this? Tried a new sim card and read that a new phone wouldnt necessarily help (plus im rooted so warrenty is void)
Just before my Phone turns off my signal reappears but obviously its i can't cancel the restart at tht point so surely there is something thst can be done to fix it?
anyone?
New sim card first.

Already tried that
Your Galaxy S III could be locked to a network that your SIM card is not.
new sim tried then backup data and factory reset .

I would check to be sure sim is completely inserted, it should lock into place and need to be pushed in further to eject it.
Similar to the way some micro SD card slots work.
sim card not detected

Just restore it to stock JB. Info here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2006946 Look in the FAQ section. Although it might just be a bad sim card. It may be worth just walking into AT&T and asking to switch your number to a new one. If that still doesn't work, then just LGNPST.

It shouldn't be but it could be a sign to internal damage. The door keeps out dust, lint, and other small objects (coins and keys) from breaking the contacts inside. You may be looking at hardware damage.

All that is, is the phone detecting an object being pushed in. It still won't see that "that object" is a sim card until it reboots.

It is probably software related. I was just saying there is a possibility it is hardware related since the sim cover is broken. You won't know until you flash back to stock. Also, does your phone show an IMEI number? Check in settings>about phone>phone identity. Dont post the IMEI, just check to see if there is a number. I ask because my EFS partition got messed up once on another phone and it too wasn't recognising the sim.

Thats normal. The phone will still operate without a sim card. All the network (Edge, GSM, LTE) will still function. This is so that you can still use your phone to make emergency calls. Basically, the problem can only be a few things.
1. Software related (Solution: flash back to stock)
2. Sim Card related (S: get a new sim card)
3. Hardware related (S: repair/replace the phone)
You'll figure it out. Just narrow it down one by one. :good:
Edit: Before you restore stock, why not just try a factory reset. It wouldn't hurt. Backup just in case.

If you are LGNPSTing the Stock JB file it will put the new modem on automatically.
Hi all,
I am new to this forum. I have a Galaxy SIII GT-i9300 with Cyanogenmod 10.2. Last weekend I went out of range from the network in to the country side. When I came back to the city my phone would not connect back to the network. I tried to manually register it to the network Vodafone NZ but it just says "Cant connect to this network try again later. Ive tried to take out battery and sim card and sd card but no luck. I also restored my phone back to my last back up but still no luck. Just wanted to try something before I reset it. Wifi works fine.
Baseband version I9300XXELLA
Signal strength -81dBm 17asu
mobile network type HSDPA
Service state out of service
IMEI SV 01
Could it be the modem? Everything was working fine before I went out of range.
I know the IMEI number plays up but mine is ok.
Please help.
Don't post your imei number, it's like putting your bank details on the internet.
Try different sim and your sim in another phone, then wipe and flash full stock rom with odin to test for hardware fault.

Thanks for that I removed my IMEI number.
I tested my sim in another phone it worked but the other sim didnt work in my phone.
Ive formatted my phone and flashed a stock rom the network bars did come up when I was doing the initial setup but afterwards it went off.
I am able to search for the networks but not register on to it.
Ive read alot of forums and they are all talking about wrong IMEI and serial number but mine match up to the back of the phone.
Your sim reader is faulty.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
It is detecting that there is a sim as when I take it out it says no sim and when I put it back in the notification goes away.
But that might be on the right lines as when theres no sim the signal bars seems to fluctuate and when I put it back in it goes away.
Ive flashed another stock rom but its a Great Britain version but it matched up to my baseband and it did a few updates and now my baseband has changed. Now when I press "select automatically" it says registered to network but nothing happens and doesn't register to Vodafone nz. So I dont think theres anything wrong with the modem.
How would I go about checking the sim reader?
Thanks for all thr help much appreciated
You already have, 'other sim didn't work in my phone'. Take it to a service centre.
