I'm not posting this is a specific ROM's thread because it happens with all 4.4 ROMs I have tried. I cannot send or receive text messages (Hangouts or the messaging app), but my data works. If I restore to 4.3, everything is fine again. Nobody else seems to be having this problem, any ideas?
No threads have been made about it. Normally it the other way around. Most people wasn't getting data.

I know I've seen it before but I can't remember where, but I am looking for an app that can send and receive text messages via Bluetooth or WiFi I don't really want to use Google voice due to the voicemail portion always sucking. The ones I've found on the play store always seem to have tons of bad reviews. Thanks.

I use MightyText and it works really well. I can send and receive text and picture messages immediately. Some other ones I tried take really long before I can send a message, but this one is quick!
Mighty text is great

AT&T had an app called AT&T messages for the tablet. It allows you to access all your messages and when you send a text it shows up as coming from your phone.

I just set this up using DeskSMS / TabletSMS. The text messages send via my phone (and are also visible on my PC via a Chrome plug-in). I am very happy with it.
Of course it requires the phone to have an active data connection as well as the tablet, so that might not be what you are looking for.
Is there way to use tablet talk without the headset? Talk through the tablets microphone and hear through the speakers?

hi
I had to send my 6 month old Xperia z1 to be repaired as the USB port ceased to function. They sent me a recon handset by return.
i'm trying to restore my SMSs using SMS Backup+ by Jan Berkel. I have used it for years and it stores 30,000 odd messages on Google for me.
Seems that as I restore them, the messages are disappearing. I can see it happening. I am using the stock messaging client on 4.4.4 and I've tried clearing the cache.
I don't know where the SMSs are stored though.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
cheers
Simon

Hello guys!
I have this weird problem with goog hangouts after lollipop upgrade. Everything works fine on wifi. But when i am on cellular data i can't send Text messages.
I can receive messages though. I dont get a error message, it is just that they stuck on "sending...".
Other messengers like facebook messenger and whatsapp still work.

When you say you can't send messages, I presume you are talking about SMS? I had a similar issue with my Custom ROM. My SMS just disappeared. Probably fault of my own while setting up the phone. All I did though was install a SMS app from the Play store. I'm currently using Textra and haven't had any issues so far. There are many to choose from though.
Hope this helps
