Doing some digging last night, it appears the AOKP team is building (and has private test builds) of official AOKP for our devices!
I am not apart of the team or know any of the guys, but just putting the puzzles together and getting excited. AOKP is my ultimate favorite rom!
Are you ready?

I think their rom uses cyanogenmod as the base so it'll probably be 4.3.1.

More choices is always a good thing, and more people working on a device is also a good thing as it tends to speed up solutions to problems. While I am not an AOKP user I definitely am glad to see them working on this device.
Wow this is great news! On my Gnex I been running AOKP exclusively. Can't wait!

Well as a previous Gnex user, the stock G2 rom feels really good. I recommend reading the tips and hidden secrets thread. It feels like LG took an AOKP build and used it as reference for the stock rom.
AOKP seems to be based off 4.3.1 now but is also starting to incorporate lots of the cool tricks the G2.

Coming from a long-time AOKP user on my GNex, using it honestly felt like a step backwards from rooted stock with Xposed and other tweaks. The fact that Netflix is not working on our AOSP 4.3 roms was the death blow for me. Not sure if that will be an issue with official AOKP or not but I honestly prefer LG's ROM with tweaks as of right now.
Can someone explain to me why people like AOKP so much? I have admittedly only used it once, but I didn't find it to be that great. It was slightly buggy and I didn't notice any great benefits.
I hope they use the power widget... I don't see any aosp Rom use this for our phones and I HATE the quick tiles

That's because you didn't look through it. AOKP gives you pretty much every known tweak there is on Android. It's what CM used to be. You can create some very beautiful setups using AOKP.
Though I do agree that I am enjoying the Stock Rom after flashing a few mods. I'm not using Xposed but still got my phone to a good stop where I'm very happy with it.

Well from what I experienced on the GNex they dont release a Rom unless everything works
Sent from my VS980 4G using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
yeah surprisingly the stock rom on this is not bad and you can modify it which made me wonder if they used a custom as a template?
I hate to admit this as well, but I'm going to be flashing back down to a LG based 4.2.2 ROM either tonight or tomorrow and really tear into it and see what madness I can do. Question. Does anybody have an app already compiled that fully decompiles apks (smali, xml, etc?) or know one? I don't have a PC at the moment. Otherwise I'll have to head to the computer lab where I graduated college from and build a simple app myself that let's me choose an app, decompile it into a directory, then the option to recompe once done (and resign if not system app). The signing part isn't even needed as Steven's SignapkTool should still work.
Just wondering. It's possible as Matt does it in his Privacy Blocker app. If it didn't force close when I tried to run it I'd try to just piggy back off of that after locating where he stored the temp decompiled files at. But thst wouldn't touch system apks.
I can't stay on CyanogenMod as phone calls are horrible. I'm lucky to make it 3 minutes before getting disconnected. I won't comment on AOKP as It's not out on VS980 yet. We need updated files from LG.. As in an official 4.3 and 4.4 release. I remember the same problems back on the OG DROID, but I'm excited to see what they bring. And yes, they do merge code from separate sources as I saw a weather mod I made for some friends that I released on another site show up in a later release. I wasn't credited, and somebody else created a thread on it on the other site taking credit. I didn't care as thise who know knew.. They removed it a few releases later.
Edit: And when I left the GNex, the were at 4.2.x and starting over from scratch for 4.3 so shouldat least be iinteresting.

I am not a developer, but just someone who wanted an update for AOKP, and since we are no longer supported it didn't seem like that would happen.
I have put together an UNOFFICIAL update for AOKP by porting in some changes from another popular ROM that was recently discontinued **CoughO.a.TCoughLntCough08/29Cough**
I also threw in Nova Launcher, because it's may favorite, and the DPI is 132.
Usual disclaimer applies, do full wipes, install GAPPs, ect.
No, the camera does not work, lol.

Didn't think I needed permission, I just used some stuff from his build of CM9 to 'update' AOKP. It is now my own creation... nobody has to download or flash it. Just wanted to share in the case anyone else wanted to try it too.

Are you having any problems with market compatibility? I am currently trying to get that under wraps, but was wondering if it was just me...
I pretty much side load everything anyhow, but want it to work well for others who don't.
Also, I have a version of Adobe Flash Player I could include that works great with the stock browser.

I do think adding flash to these Roms is a good idea. I know flash is working its way out but there are still many sites and things that use it.
I Too tried your rom and unfortunetly for the short period it was on my tp it ran great. I keep reverting to CM10 even tho there's no sound. I still like the feeling of having JB on the TP. Thanks.
Wanted to say thanks to anyone who has installed this ROM as I am really interested in taking the next step into Compiling ROM's myself, and it's great to have some interest.

As for market compatibility, I just noticed now that I am having some compatibility issues... did you modify the build prop, or is it on account of the DPI settings, would you say?
I'd be interested in seeing your flash adaptation, as for me, I use the market flash player patched va Lucky Patcher to allow Hulu on mobile devices. How does yours differ?
Thanks again for the mash-up, and if you gots the time, I would love to see more from you.
Cheers!
EDIT: so dpi had nothing to do with it.... exploring other options. I'll weigh in more if I figure anything out.
Yea, the only change in the build prop was the build name and DPI.
Unfortunately my touchpad is going on a trip without me for a while so I am not going to be able to experiment.

Figured something out with compatibility.... Set the DPI to 120, clear market cache, reboot, load the play store, accept the terms, reset DPI to 132, and reboot.....
Just don't clear market cache, now.... lol, or no more compatibility.
Also, I've been having a SOD issue with the ROM..... any suggestions?
Cheers!

Sent from my CM9 TouchPad using TapaTalk 2
If anyone's interested, set the DPI back to 160 via Rom Control or Rom Toolbox. Fixes compatibility. I'd rather have 132, but its just not worth the fight.
I'll be mashing up an update with the latest CM9 as soon as I have my TP back! I'll look into any requests you guys might have, as it would be nice to add some extra functionality.

I am also looking into porting AOKP from T989 which I also have and has an identical chip set. It would be fun to see CM10 AOKP on touchpad... of course it would have the current limitations of CM10 test builds, ex. No sound.

AOKP was my favorite one, but i stopped using it when they stopped supporting our touchpads. i'm glad you are considering taking up this idea :good:
Hey there Xda, I wanted to find some details on the recent version of JB AOKP that has been floating around the net. I have seen several sites that give a halfa**ed tutorial on how to update, but no credit as to who was responsible for the build. Out of curiosity I tried it. The rom is definitely stable and Data & WIFI are both stable too. Unfortunately after flashing gapps there is no initial set up & the play store only serves up a server error. Even more unfortunate is the fact that there wasn't even a file browser built in so unless you push any apk's via adb sideloading is out. So if any one knows any thing about this please chime in here. This rom shows serious promise and is a good hint of what is to come.

Good to know, thanks. The following sites I mentioned earlier were claiming 4.1.1 are:
http://newsadvices.com/install-android-4-1-1-jelly-bean-aokp-on-htc-thunderbolt/
http://technologygoogle.com/htc-thunderbolt-to-install-aokp-jelly-bean-4-1-1-firmware-review/
http://www.android.gs/update-htc-thunderbolt-to-aokp-jelly-bean/
None of these were development sites, so I was skeptical, to say the least. Even so I was like Holy S***JB on the TB F***ing awsome! at least now we know. If any one knows who published these story's they should let them know there is misinformation included in all three as they are ICS not JB.
To confirm and give where credit where it is due, this is chrootz work right?

Chrootz fixed wifi. PROTEKK built the ROM.
wampuscat is right, ProTekk built the ROM and I just fixed the wifi module driver for kernel.
ProTekk mentioned he is waiting for ICS ota from HTC and he can start working on aokp for TBolt.
All the links, They talking about the AOKP made by SPJester and it's misinformed. It supposed telling everyone the Liquid and SPJester made AOSP ICS for TBolt not
the AOKP jb. AOKP build is belong to ProTekk's build made from Milestone 6 JellyBean.

Well, then mystery solved. Using the ics gapps the rom is now rocking my 'Bolt. Many thanks to chrootz for his wifi fix and to Protek for his dedication to the thunderbolt. I also would like to take this opportunity to give a shout out to team bamf for their work on the ICS leak, liquid and spjester for making ics aosp happen, and between them breathing new life into this phone. We had good things from protek back in the cm7 days, and now with the ics action he has out done him self. His work with jb will be most impressive. I'm sure I speak for all the aosp fans out there when I say the thunderbolt wouldn't be half the device it is today with out him and his merry team of kangers.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?edit=vd&v=UhvYjD8o22k
Didn't get a build out yesterday however I will today. The biggest issue I've found so far while listening to music video wired headphones when you open an app the sound will fade in and out. Other then that WiFi works notification sounds work. Haven't tried BT. Haven't tested auto brightness either. Camera and focul both work. Camera now shows full screen when capturing pictures however Focul still cuts off top and bottom.
Screenshot works now as well.
Update: disabling touch sounds fixes audio fade in/out. Also in call audio works.

Here are direct links to the downloads. Nuke usually has the latest. I may also post my own builds from time to time if something interesting pops up on their gerrit.

Nice, thanks!
Finding it a bit difficult for a feature list for our phone. Anybody know if IR works?
Huh why haven't we heard of this ROM?

Thanks for posting this. I've seen the community on g+ before but had no idea it was available for the s4! Everything is solid so far

I have never run one this smooth. It is missing some toggles I like, quiet hours for one, but has lots of options like slim. Freaking fast!
Guess its time to set up a g+ only google account (no way I'm using my primary email address as a social media handle).

If you haven't heard of Vanir in general it's because your name is patrick.

If you haven't heard of it for this device specifically, it's because not all Devs favor XDA :good:

I've been doing my own builds but here is no difference between DHO and Nuke. Use the latest one.
This ROM is very nice. Even got watch on to work. Something I've decided I can't live without. Been running all day. Battery life is going to be good to average I think. Some nice features. BeanStalk I think has a few more. But not quite this smooth. First chance I've had to run vanir. Impressed all in all. Thanks for posting op.

I was being lazy and I used the gapps from the bean stalk rom which I already had downloaded. Which are basically the full slim gapps. It's a 4.3 ROM so I figured it would work. I like the dark out of the box. There is a theme in vanir that inverts though. Not the true slim dark toggle, a system theme gets you to the same place though. You could also download the latest 4.3 gapps from goo.

What is AOKP?
AOKP stands for Android Open Kang Project. It is a custom ROM distribution for several high-end Android devices. The name is a play on the word kang and AOSP (Android Open Source Project). The name was sort of a joke, but it just stuck, just like our infatuation with unicorns.
We fork the source code of Android that Google puts out in the open with every major version release, and we then add the magical unicorn bytes (read: we add some of the coolest features that are both useful and make your ROM awesome).
With AOKP, you can generally do a lot more with your device than what you could do with the original firmware that came installed on it.
Why AOKP ?
We were waiting for when you’d ask this.
There are a variety of reasons why a hilly billy Android user, on a bright sunny day, would suddenly start using AOKP and loving it.
For one, AOKP is lightweight. Most OEMs provide a heavy UI layer over Android and have loads of bloatware (i.e. apps that not everyone use every day, but you cannot remove because they’re “baked in” by default). Since AOKP is built upon vanilla Android source, it has neither of the above.
Also AOKP has features that you will not find on your stock firmware. You can have a multitude of toggles to quickly flip a lot of your phone’s settings right at your fingertips, or you can launch apps quickly from any screen using our Ribbons.
You can change almost each and every aspect of the OS, from its looks to the way it functions, with total freedom. And did we tell you, AOKP helps you make tacos?
NOTE:
Actually AOKP is only starting with an AOSP with some extra features.
Usual features are coming soon...

Sorry, no. Which app did you tested? Mine is Poweramp.
Note. Tested the ROM with BrickedKernel (S2W, S2S, DT2W). Works like a charm and it don't break the root...
I realize the title denotes "unofficial." Is this indicative the AOKP team isn't working on porting this device and its a different developer using their source code entirely?
Forgive me if I sound totally off, I'm just a little confused. AOKP was everything on my Nexus 4. I have been waiting for AOKP on my Nexus 5 for eons.
Someone wanna fill me in?

It's also possible to build for other devices, I successfully did it for GNex maguro but it's too much unstable at this time.

Yesterday I build the new AOKP 4.4.1. But it hasn't yet ROMControl to customize it. Here is the link.
