Screen crack. - HTC Desire X

So today my phone fell and i got a crack.
It sucks. But,i got only two lines. Nothing to big i can see the screen and work on it without a problem.
But i can't actually feel the crack under my finger. So is there a piece of plastic on top of the screen ? I can see the shadows that these lines make under them,so i think it's not a crack on the screen but rather on the piece of plastic (if there is any) that is the par of phones mask.
So my question is,is there a piece of plastic on top of the screen and can i change the phones mask without changing the screen ?

Yes, but I don't recommend it.
It's hard, and you have very high probability on break your screen.
It's easier to replace whole screen.
Digitizer it's about 25$ on eBay and whole screen about 60-70$

That's what I did btw.... Take a look at my thread in Accessories, I've got a link there to the shop where I bought it.

Does the Rezound have Gorilla Glass? I think it does, but just making sure.
Thanks

Doesn't matter the Bolt had gorilla glass and I can point out at least 5 scratches on the screen since April 1 being really deep and one other one caused from unlocking screen near bottom of screen. All were caused by fingernails.

All you had to do was email them.

Cut them if that is the case, lol. BS! I never used screen protectors on any device I have owned. Even dropping them doesn't really scratch the screen. I showed people on my X1 and X2 both that even a key lightly pressed won't. This phone may not have Corning gorilla glass, but it still GLASS! Lol you don't cut threw car windows with finger nails.

Its impossible that u scratched it with ur nail.... its just doesn't happen that way...
but one way to scratch is to put some sands on it and rub it...
one its all done ur screen will probably be screwed...
I don't know what else to tell you laugh all you want but I have 5 on my screen. I did email the company and they told me to email HTC, HTC said they don't warranty screen damage cause by outside factors....blah blah trust me I did the deep one wobble my fingernail play fruit ninja so I know what I am talking about. The one at the bottom is not as deep but it the length of the screen that I normally pull my the lock ring. I don't even have fingernails really so i don't get it, I have seen videos of people taking a knife to a screen and keys. I was in a thread about this in Thunderbolt forum so other people have seen his before. Not every screen made equal.

Maybe so. But, all screens are made from glass and no matter how long (or how hard for that matter) the nails are growing from your fingers it is virtually impossible for them to scratch the glass of your phone's screen. For your fingernails to be capable of scratching the screen they would then have to be harder than the glass used to make the screen. So, if your fingernails are that hard then you should be able to also scratch the glass in the windows of you home or the glass mirror in your bathroom. Give those two a shot and let us know how it turns out. If you are indeed successful; then call Guinness World Records and Ripley's.

Feel free to come check it out if you are ever in Arizona I would not make this up I had the first Droid Incredible and never used screen protector on that one and now its my daughter play phone and it is still scratch free and i used that for well over a year and my daughter had it for last 6 months. I was very disappointed with my Thunderbolt's screen.

Seeing it wouldn't prove anything! If you ever come to Michigan come see my phone, I scratched it with my skin (from my friends car door actually)! are your hands always bleeding? It seems with nails like that you would be cutting your hands up a lot!

do you have long nails? fingernails don't work on a capasitive touchscreen, so there isn't any reason to touch the screen with your nails....
You guys act like I am the only one who has complained about the thunderbolt screen. It's a cheap screen way cheaper than my Droid incredible. And my fingernails are normal size children.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Wait, wait, wait... You have normal sized children for fingernails?
LOL
In reality, you are probably another one of those people walking around with your naked phone in your pocket. Some keys in the same pocket, or a fall scratched it, and you didn't notice until flailing at your screen with your normal sized children for nails playing Fruit Ninja.

lol, dude, stop trying to save face. We all know you didn't scratch your screen with your fingernails!
Funny stuff...
I have one slight scratch on my Inc. Hardly noticeable, but I notice it. First noticed it after coming back from Florida. Damn beautiful white sand beaches!!!!
Note to self (and y'all)... screen protectors are a must when going to the beach.
Quartz will scratch glass!
Will definitely buy some cheap protectors for my soon-to-be-mine Rezound!
What about toe nails? I wanna make sure before I get this phone....

Broken screen

Hello all
So my mum just dropped her phone and the wonderful gorilla glass didnt do its job and now has a big crack in it.
The phone still fully works its seems to like there is an outer screen?
Any ideas on how to fix i looked on ebay but looks very pricey? Sonething about a digitizer?
Picture attached.
Any help or adivce on where to look would be most appreciated.
Kindest regards
Superliam

You are basically screwed. Mine had shattered and I ordered a new piece of glass for the front. The digitizer is stuck to the glass pretty damn good, I ended up having to order a new frame unit for 250.
I would just put a new screen protector on it and leave it.
You will only be looking at an expensive fix, screens for this phone cost a lot, wether you fix it your self or send it to Sammy and this is not covered by warranty.
The digitizer is the component that recognises touches and translates them to digital signals the phone understands.
I'm not sure about this phone but on my old one it was on top of the screen which I would also expect here.
If I was you I would send the phone to Sammy but I couldn't give you a price.

The screen and touch digitiser are bonded together like on iPhone and there's no third party screens yet so you either pay $250 or do without a screen.

Fixing my S3....

So basically whilst trying to change the track while walking home my Galaxy S3 had a coming together with the pavement, Now the top left corner of the glass is smashed, there's cracks going along the glass but the screen is in one piece and the digitizer still works perfectly, I was wondering what I'm looking at for fixing it? Is it possible to just get the glass covering the screen and replace that or will I have to replace the whole screen itself despite the fact that's in fine shape?
I want my beautiful screen back basically! Thanks for any help you can provide
Search is your friend........
Bummer about your screen.

Nope you need to replace the whole unit since you cannot separate the parts - at least not without damaging them.
It's around 250€

I believe that means separating the digitizer from the screen, not for the faint hearted. Full unit replacement is far easier but more costly. There are plenty of posts regarding this matter.

yea pulling that screen off is going to be a bugger......you will need heat and time. i dont see problem with the pulling OFF the screen, but i wonder how you would re-adhear the screen once it is pulled. are they going to send you special glue.
thats where i would just replace the whole screen and digitizer. it seems risky to get the screen and pull it off......and just be stuck with a makeshift way to stick them back together.

Anyone heard of this one? Scratchs on screen?

I was over at the Verizon store yesterday doing something totally unrelated, when I pulled out my DNA TO READ a text and this (up to this point) salesperson, was doing quite well. He then tried to sell me a screen protecter, saying it was "critical I have one to protect my warranty." He went on to explain that if the phone is returned for warranty for any reason, that if they can see any, including extremely minor hard to see scratches, the warranty is NULL AND VOID. I told him THAT is the worst salespitch I have ever heard. He then proceded to try and find a minor scratch by looking at my screen in any angle and light (and couldn'tfind one). Said I was extremely lucky to have had this phone since launch day and not have any scratchs, and AGAIN tried to sell me a screen protecter. Huh???

I might add, that I am an extremely heavy (addicted) smartphone user (using phone all day for business and all night for personal use.) To this point, I have had 2 blackberry's, a fascinate, a nexus, and now DNA. Never had a screen protecter on any phone, and have had a few extremely (hard to detect) scratches over the years. (told him THAT and he is telling me I am the luckiest guy in town). I am still laughing.

He's just doing his job man, chill out.
Even though this is gorilla glass 2 it can still scratch, obviously it's harder to scratch but I feel safer with one on and have always had screen protectors on mine and sometines they save large scratches from happening. The ones at verizon suck as they don't cover the entire screen but I think having one is a nice added later of protection. Just my thoughts.

The droid dna protectors cover the whole screen except for the camera and sensor cutouts...
That is a pretty bad sales pitch but he was just doing his job so meh. screen protectors are something i don't like so will avoid unless seriously convinced other wise

The Verizon one covers the screen and buttons, but there is still glass exposed especially if you don't have a case on as well.

I can speak first hand that the screen definitely scratches (i have about 6 or so). That being said, it did withstand a face down drop from about 2 feet.

[Q] Htc One X+ Flexing Issues

Hi,
HTC recently replaced my shattered Screen for a fee of around 280€.
Now what I found out is that the screen flexes when I press it lightly on the edges which wasnt the case on my old display(it was really perfect).
What I want to ask is if i should ask for another replacement screen or if I should leave it as it is.
I dont know if there is any long term damage done when it has this issue.
Thanks in advance
Sounds like it's not sticking to LCD screen you could heat around outside screen with blow dryer maybe double sided tape will stick..I put a screen on my mot atrix4 g it's doing that if nothing else they should fix it

Well, the screen isnt loose at all, everything is solid so i guess the display ripples easily?
I do remember reading that the rippling on the display disappeared for some people
but im not sure anymore
