Please, Please, HELP ME !!!
I looked all over this forum and on the net to try to find a solution to my problem, but I couldn't find anything that relates to this issue.
When I go into Mobile Networks/Network Operators, the phone starts to search for available networks. When the search is complete, I select the network I want and then I get the following message: "Unable to select Network/Select Automatically. Unable to connect.Try again later." The only way I can connect to my provider is to reboot the phone. Because of this, I am unable to use my phone in roaming either. It looks like my phone fails to connect to any mobile networks manually.
When I put the SIM in a different phone, the error is gone, so the problem should be with my phone. Could it be a modem or a ROM issue? Don't know.
The phone is rooted, with Android 2.3.5, Baseband: I9100XXKI4. Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XXKI4-CL611039 [email protected] #2.
Please help me. All help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Already tried to change modem/
wipe the hell out of your phone/
reflash the Rom?
Almost always helps
Set network APN manually do not use search /auto and see what happens .
That can be followed by backup of data and factory reset .
You can also check you have correct CSC for network/location .
Next would be to flash another modem KI1 for choice through Odin or from the zipped modems post through CWM .
Modems
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131950
All Fails you can do the following this will bring the phone to an acceptable warranty return state if it does not cure the problem .
....................................
Clean Slate for those that balls up the firmware .
Backup data first if phone is working .
Boot CWM recovery
Mounts and Storage
Format cache data system sd card .
Remove battery
Boot to download mode
Open Odin
Install correct stock firmware .
Still problems use usb jig to set rom counter to zero .
Return to service centre .

I had the similar problem since last week: The sgs2 has been working with local operator Telia for about 4 months and suddenly it could not register on the network after I have set it to airplane mode several times
I put 3 other sims from the same operator in my sgs2, all of them do not work, and they all working fine in other phones
I put 2 sims from 2 other operators in my sgs2, they all working fine
So it seems this sgs2 only does not work within Telia's network, but I gave Telia support my IMEI number, they say that number is not locked or blocked in their network
I tried manually select network from the list, but get immediately back a notification saying "unable to select network", not like in a working phone, it takes several seconds before getting a confirmation from the network
So I guess some old denying answer from Telia is cached in the phone, and everytime phone send the register request, the cached denying answer is read. unless I can clearout this cache, there is no way to get registered with Telia
I went forward to wipe/factory reset/flash another rom&modem, all did not help. I guess these cache information is not changeble through normal flashing process, maybe in EFS area or somewhere else
Anyone can help?

I'm sure this is not your situation but my provider was down for the days but when I called support they swore everything was fine and trouble shooted my phone.for what ever reason their Sim showed every provider in my area as them.(as it in network search all providers looked like my provider). While the phone tried to connect to the other providers it was rejected as "unable to register on network"error. I did not figure out out until I checked network search with a different provider Sim and my network provider was no where to be found until they got the system back up in my area.

Thanks, I always flash stock roms and csc for the phone, and tried twice, I believe the data which caused the problem could not be touched by the flash process
Now I put another SIM from telenor in the sgs2 and try to manually select the Telia network, it took more than 30 seconds and returned a message saying "unable to select network, select automatically", and then it select home network (telenor) successfully
However, if I manually select other non-home network (3, tele2 etc... ), it took about 5 seconds to get that message
So, I think that 30 seconds waiting actually is a system timeout period, there is no communication to/from Telia network during this period
The strange thing is that even reflash the rom/kernel/modem do not improve the situation, where did the android system store the settings of network operators so that even a full flash of the phone can not clear it?
I'm going to do some adb logging today to see what is actually happening there...
Hey guys, hopefully someone here can tell me what is wrong with my phone
Basically i cannot make any calls or texts with my phone, when i try to make a call it comes up "not registered on network" this only started happening yday
I can use the internet, maps etc without wifi so it is just a calling/texting problem i have
Also my sim works in my brothers iphone 4 so no problem with the sim
I contacted o2 who have said that there is no problem at their end, my account is not barred, the IMEI of the galaxy is fine, so there are no restrictions
I have done a full reboot of the phone and also made sure airplane mode isnt on
I just dont know what is wrong with my Galaxy S3
Any ideas???
Try different SIM, see if it works.
Try to re-register to your network and select gsm/wcdma auto
Settings > settings / wireless & networks > more settings > mobile networks > network mode ...... AND network operators > select your carrier
Also, if you have no signal strength, re-check to make sure your Sim is properly inserted

Le8 is a crappy firmware, wait for an update though kies..
Or if u KNOW how to flash, then change to lf2 that a good firmware.if u don't know how to flash then read on how-to,there are lots of guides here on xda and utube
I had the same issue and it is related somehow to the CSC not being detected/installed correctly after flashing a new ROM.
I have spent hours and after flashing the latest UK generic ROM from the stock O2 one I had the same messages issues and Kies would connect.
After pressing x#1234# I saw the CSC was unknown and so I flashed back the O2 CSC and everthing started to work correctly. Then I have reflashed the latest UK unbranded ROM and after pressing pressing x#1234# the CSC showed correctly.
DO NOT WIPE RIPARTITION/ DELETE ALL DATA otherwise it will somehow cause the phone to set the CSC as unknown and then the messages error will come back.
After reistalling Kies for a few times it fininally decided to work, or may be it like the CSC?? Kies however does not let me upgrade firmware for some reason but at least I can sync my contacts
I have then changed the CSC to the correct UK Generic BTU (UK):
1.Just type *#272*Device IMEI# at Phone dial pad.
2.Select the CSC that you want.
3.Click Install.
4.Phone will be rebooted by itself.
5.That’s all.
Afterword I have run a software update from the phone and it upgraded to the latest firmware, kies confirmed it too

Hi all,
I need help regarding connection problem of my I9300.
I updated my SGSIII through kies from LE8 to LH1 ( Using Firmware initialization, as Kies was giving message that it cannot update this phone)
But after update i have no network connection at all. There aren't any insert sim warnings anywhere, i just have a circle with a diagonal line through it in the notification bar where the signal bars usually sit.
If i hold the power button to bring up the shut down/flight mode menu,I can turn on flight mode but after getting in flight mode this option is diasabled. And i cannot turn off flight mode from power menu.
I can disable it from settings, but that option also disables and only enables if i exit from that menu and enter again.
I have re installed .LE8 via Odin but it is same.
My phone is unlocked and i can see carrier name in status bar.
Also it does not search any available networks from menu.
Any one knows what is wrong

Are modem and CSC correct for your area .
Have you set up the network manually is the network registered in the APN list .
Have you tried a factory reset after backing up all data ??
But this reads more like a failed flash .

My signals were fine with OXA LE8. I upgarded to LG8.
Now i have reflashed same firmware but it did bot work.
MY APN is automatically configured from sim,
But when i got to network operators --> Search networks, Searching flashes for a second and goes off.
When i choose Network operators --> Select automatically it says registered to network immediately
Also power menu keeps telling that flight mode is ON even if i turn it off from setting. and this option in power menu is also disabled unless i reboot. After switching to Flight mode first time from menu it is disabled.
I did factory reset but it did not help
If it is a failed flash, what should i do?
I have noticed one more thing,
If i remove sim card, I get no sim card symbol. But i get full signal bars on status bar.
In settings--> Status it shows signal strength of 71 dbm 21 asu
Also without sim card the flightmode can be enabled or disabled normally
with flight mode disabled the signal strength is 70-80 dbm, with flight mode enabled signals go to 111 dbm
I have the same error!
Exacly equal on everything you said!
Only diference is, my IMEI was changed by 004999xxxxxx.
And I don't know why!
I've done all facilities to follow many tutorials here, but nothing worked.
I have just noticed that in status menu, serial number is 00000000000.
Is it normal or i have some corruption in EFS folder.

I think you can resolve your issue by restoring efs data
I have checked my efs folder.
following two files are modified at the time when i installed the LH1 firmware.
1- nv_data.bin
2- nv_data.bin,md5
allother files are old.
I think it has some problem. I have .bak files of both files.
How can i restore them.

My friend had the same problem when he tried to initiate the firmware via Kies (as it was not his region update, which we believe is the cause of the problem)
He solved it by downloading the latest official firmware of his region using checkfus-PC version after wiping all data and cache and it worked well bringing his device back to the latest official firmware and reseting modem/csc
For Egypt, I believe the latest official firmware is BLFB. Download PC version of check fus and use it to verify :good:

I dont have a Tuto for you..but once you open Checkfus..the steps are quite easy..enter your model number..your region and download the firmware..similarly you can do the same on Sammobile.com...you will need to register first...once you have the zip file..unzip it to find the .tar file..take your phone into download mode.connect to pc with odin open...choose the .tar file as pda uncheck re-partition if it is checked...and flash..

Am i supposed to download the firware for my country and reflash it.
My phone orignal firmware is BTU ( UK ) according to Kies when i use Kies firmware initiaization, but i am in PAK.
Is this the cause of problem
My CSC when it checked before upgrading was LE8 (XXX)
when using *#197328640# (Service Mode)
version info---> sw version-->read csc code it says does not support
read all sw versio ---> no thing against csc code
read imei ---> not supported
But*#06# returns imei
*#1234# returns all information
I am confused. is it normal
Is there a way to check the orignal CSC as i might have some csc conflict that is not allowing me to use sim card
I have checked my nv_data.bin
I found that it has ÿÿÿÿÿI9300XXLE8............. written in it. is it ok for UK (BTU) firmware.
But Odin does not show my CSC it says that i have LE8 ( XXX ).
Using *2767*4387264636#. code to check product number is also not working in my phone. It does nothing.
In service menu when i check sellout sms-->get scm info
1- sellout sms : off
Pcode : not active
Mode : prod
Any progress?
After flashing official LE8 and fox hound LH4, i think it is not rom related issue.
Some people think that it may be CSC or product code problem, But in my SGS2 i flashed every rom with many different CSC and regions but i never had this issue.
I am currently working on EFS folder because all my symptoms are same as if EFS folder is corrupt, but i just want to be sure because i can see imei, mac addresses and SW info.

Hello Everyone, I am using Samsung Ace s5830i and since yesterday I am not able to make any calls, when I try to call a number it says "Mobile Network not available" but I can see good signal strength and I am also able to use GPRS. In the notification area it says "Emergency calls only".
I went to Settings -> mobile networks, when I try to manually select my operator(TATA Docomo, i'm from India) i get the error "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network".
I have removed the sim card, inserted in another mobile, it works fine. When I try try to insert a sim card of some other operator into ace I get the same errors listed above.
These are the things that I have tried.
1. Removed the sim card, battery inserted them back and restarted the phone
2. Restored my Nandroid backup
3. Complete factory reset
None of these worked and still I get the same error.
Information regarding the phone:
Model- Samsung Galaxy Ace s5830i rooted with CWM 5.0.2.6
Android version - 2.3.6
Mobile network type - GPRS
Network- TATA Docomo
Signal Strength - -90dBm
Service state - Out of service
Mobile network state - Disconnected

now when I put my virgin media sim in it I get the "do I want to download the virgin media config settings"
I press yes and I get nothing?
now here is the thing it will give me access to virgin mobile internet?
I go to settings and the virgin media apn for mobile internet is there but nothing else
it will not register on the network
the sim works fine on my other phone
I have done this .....Open your dial pad and then type in *#197328640#.
Go to Main Menu > [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock >then I just get this message....MENU NOT EXIST PRESS BACK KEY Current command is 186
thopughts please
Very difficult to understand you, but flashing a firmware has nothing to do with network lock.

If your phone is unable to connect Virgin network then how come it asked you to download config settings. Are you able to call any one? If not then flash the correct firmware. (Refer sammobile)
If you are able to dial out and only internet is issue then google and find out virgin mobile internet configuration and do it manually.

When you installed the rom (BTU is fine its a generic UK Europe firmware so any sim should work) did you do a factory reset to clean the phone of all the custom stuff, if not then do that, Settings > Accounts > Backup and Reset then Factory Data Reset if you are running Android 4.3
This will wipe the phone data and settings to return it to factory state of the BTU rom, move any pictures, music etc from the internal storage to your external SD card or you will lose it
When the phone reboots you will need to set it up from scratch as if you had just got it.

Don't know how to check if the phone is barred. As your phone registered on Virgin network, I don't think it's network-locked.
Try a sim from a different network to see if you can replicate the problem.
Maybe try factory reset and setup without the sim card in. After the set up shut down and pop in the SIM, then restart. Make sure mobile data and wifi are off when you restart.
It is odd, because it should automatically configure without the need to download anything.
ok thanks will try that
ok done all that phoned virgin support
they are suggesting it is locked onto the previous network
thing is I don't know what the network was before so I guess
ive got hold of a small wifi tablet for the boys to play with
unless someone can point me in the right direction?????

Use KIES to recover the original phone firmware,
Start Kies do not connect the phone turn that off and remove the battery
On the menu bar go to Tools > Firmware Upgrade and Installation them follow the instructions
This will put the most up to date original firmware version on the phone but may well sim lock it if it was previously locked to a network
