Hi, I'm not able to connect my samsung galaxy ace gt s5830i to kies. This is the error message: "No SIM card inserted. Unable to continue communication". I have tried the troubleshoot connection error button but the problem continues.
I remember that long ago I could connect to kies but it was a few months ago that I started to have problems. I have recently rooted my phone but it couldn't connect even before.
Any solution to my problem? Thanks.
DO NOT USE KIES!!! It's bad and it can install S5830 firmware on ur Ace-i, for example. Flash firmware via ODIN. If u want the last official firmware, I can provide u a link.

Ok, I have never used ODIN so I have to learn how to use it. So, using ODIN I will be able to update firmware and drivers, isn't it? What I want to do is to install a custom rom but I have never done it before and I have read that i needed official drivers.

Oh god. Just read instructions. There aren't any drivers as drivers, only in CM. U need just any official firmware.

Can I use kies with a rooted tab?
Will i receive the Updates via ota after rooting ?
tnx you all
Someone who want to help me?

If all you have done is rooting (no cwm or custom rom or kernel), then yes you can use kies and ota update. There is a high possibility that you will lose root after the update though.

I'be installed only cwm. So there's not a chance i can use kies until i reverse the root?
Thank you in advance for your help!
You can use kies for syncing, etc but not for updates. You need to be completely stock for that.

Once the update comes out it'll be on www.sammobile.com. All you'd have to do is flash through Odin

I recently posted a thread asking for help reverting my international gs3 back to its original 4.0.4 state after flash in the super nexus ROM. The reason I want to do this is so that I can get the official 4.1 update from Samsung when it is released. I followed the instructions from the video by totallydubbed but I saw he was flashing from another ICS ROM not jb. When I reset my flash counter it said "Samsung official and under that it was still saying custom, on his phone both said official. When I plugged the phone into the computer it would not recognize the phone, nor did Odin.....is there anything else I can do? Thank you in advanced for any input.
Instal drivers or change USB port or restart pc

I have the drivers installed because I used Odin to root the phone when it was still on 4.0.4. Would it be different drivers since its running 4.1 right now?
Reinstall driver.
Get your phone in downloading mode and try plug it again.
Try with other usb port

Did you do a factory reset after the flash? I do believe that is necessary to clear that status
is it possible to flash official stock firmware from sammobile directly to a rooted phone with odin and would it work or am i only tied to custom roms cos i just rooted my phone.
if you just rooted your phone then it is stock firmware, rooted
Don't understand the problem :-/
Just flash an official firmware via Odin and root again.
Yes, it will work, but you will need to root it again
Thanks would just give it a try and see

May I know why you are not able to use Odin?
That is a very simple way to root.
It depends on your current firmware/kernel. I was able to flash and never used Odin I've rooted the phone using exynos abuse as I had really vulnerable kernel, then I installed Recovery by rom manager and flashed stuff from the open recovery. But make sure that exynos abuse works for your firmware before using it and make sure you know what you are doing and don't touch anything else then root option in this program
I install samsung kies. But still when i connect my S3 to my PC nothing happen. Sorry for my bad english

The date of purchase means nothing. I know that you have stock firmware, but there are many stock firmware versions (even if all are 4.1.2) and they have different vulnerabilities. I was at XXELL4 kernel at stock, which is old and vulnerable, but you may be on one of the newest kernel which can't be abused without ODIN. Please take more time to read guides and get more familiar with the phone, as your next post might start by "I've bricked my phone, please help" You will survive few days at stock rom and it seems that you don't know the basics

KIES & Odin do not play well together, hence you should deinstall KIES in case you want to use Odin, will save you a lot of time solving connection issues.
Otherwise as mentioned.

Do not use Kies!
All you need to do is install the drivers of your phone and once that is
done and Kies is opened infront of you open, go to
Task Manager > Processes > Remove All Kies Related Applications
and then use Odin to root your phone.
1. Provide us with kernel version.
2. Are you on ICS/JB?
3. Are you on OS X? If you are use Heimdall; Mac alternative to Odin. Otherwise there is no reason why you should use anything other than Odin/Heimdall, just flash CF Root.
what do you need root for? if you don't know the difference between Kies and Odin, don't root it, you'll brick it
