Can I flash a 257 Rom? Currently on 510 - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

I have unlocked and rooted my ZU. I'm currently on 510 and was wondering if I can just flash one of the
257 ROMs in the android development section, or if there are other hoops to jump through first.

Sure, but you'll lose root. If you want to keep root then install OTA Root Keeper from the Play Store and change your CDA so you'll get the OTA update.
- You'll lose root if you update through your computer
- You'll keep root if your update OTA
Changing your CDA:
Code:
- German CDA code: C6833_1275-8026
- ALSO CHANGE "ro.somc.customerid" SET IT TO 436
- Reboot your device

can I edit my build.prop on my c6802 with the c6833 settings so that it thinks that is c6833. beouse I have C6802 I did get the OTA update but didn't install. I get error that it could not update. any idea on how to force update OTA....

That should work fine as far as I know.

How do I update build number?

My boyfriend and I both just got xperia x10s. We both did a one click root and we both have R2BA020 as our build numbers. How can we get up to 26 or whatever the latest one is? Thanks
Hi.
Google "SEUS" and update your phones, but you will have to run the one click root app again.
Hi going through Seus is a difficult i'll tell you a simple method go into settings then click about phone on the top you will find software update just click it then you will see update now just click that whoa! your X10 will be updated to the latest 026 i hope it will work for you coz it worked for me and my cousin, regards.
If OTA doesn't work try SEUS cos updates are not always available OTA.
SEUS and the phone updater both say we are up to date...
If you are with Rogers, then you won't be able to update to the latest firmware. You will have to flash another .26 rom.
To flash to the latest firmware and get the root, follow these instructions:

Well, you can flash the ftf file instead of waiting of the update.

Every ROM has its bugs so be not afraid of them, take the improvement and learn to appreciate it. For your case, that would be no problem to skip it.

I haven't rooted and I could download and apply the OTA fine, so it would appear that rooting prevents OTA!

[Q] Xperia Tablet Z2 (SGP512) - Still no 4.4.4 Update

All -
Is it just me or is the 4.4.4 Update still not available for USA Z2 Tablets? I got the update on my Z2 phone a while back but no go on the tablet. I have the SGP512 Firmware and I get the fated "Your device already has the latest available system updates" when I try the Update Center.
I have also tried connecting my tablet to a PC but still no luck. I thought these updates came out a month ago? Anyone else experiencing this or am I missing something? I have seen a few dated threads on this subject but no conclusive update as to whether this update has finally been rolled out for the US Z2 tablets.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
No One?
So everyone has 4.4.4 ?
I still havent seen it. Bought the tablet for the remote play feature and over a month with no word. No response when I ask Sony. I love the company but very disappointed in them now.
You can check your region/carrier with XperiFirm
http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...xperifirm-xperia-firmware-downloader-t2834142
Looks like North America is still on 17.1.2.A.0.314...
If there is no update for your device on specific region and you want to update to latest firmware you can just use other region ftf-file for your device and flash it via Flashtool. Differences are more or less in bloatware that come with firmware. Also it´s reported that because only difference between SGP511 and SGP512 is memory size also SGP511 firmwares work fine with SGP512 device.
Ah thanks..

Thanks all for the responses. I am glad to know i wasn't crazy. I will wait till the 15th and if I don't have it then I will go the route of switching to another region to see if I can get it that way. Much appreciated.

I had an update for my SGP512 to 23.0.1.A.4.30 this morning, here living in DE
By th way you can force download an update image using Flashtool. A simple guide is available here:
http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/09/01/flashtool-version-0-9-18-1-allows-you-to-download-xperia-firmware-files/
I'm in Canada and I got the 23.0.1.a.4.30 notification last night. I'm updating through PC companion right now. I'm completely stock.
It seems I was not the only one to get it in North America: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57232943&postcount=80
I live in US and got notification that I had a download available on the 5th. I just upgraded via update on tablet this morning with no issues. Also, I was rooted but not unlocked and was able to keep root (SuperSU Survival Mode)

[Q] No OTA after rooting

Hi, so I have Z2 on 5.0.2 and I've rooted my phone about a month ago with this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/general/root-t3108230. And now, when the 5.1 update was released I can't update because my phone says it's up to date. I've tried connecting to PC and update through PC companion but same result occurred.
Now before you start saying that I won't be able to update through OTA because I have dual recovery, I can remove the recovery and do full unroot can't I? But that's currently not my problem because I won't get the OTA anyway.
BTW, my friend (same country, same phone) received the update 2-3w weeks ago...
So, my question is.. Is the fact that I've rooted my phone affecting OTA? And if so, can I just unroot and then I will receive the update?
Or just install a rooted 5.1 zip in recovery? Pretty sure this has been talked about over and over and over and over and over............

Well, I've read that, but 1. I heard about some people having issues with prerooted roms and 2. I wasn't really sure if I could with the guide I followed. I guess I'm gonna try it then...
You can always flash a generic ftf via flashtool, it is an unmodified stock firmware file, no root etc..
