[Q] Bootloop caused after installing some Xposed Framework modules - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone! I have a serious problem with my phone. It's mtk6572 based and runs on AOSP android 4.2.2 (M-pai s720) and it's rooted.
After installing Xposed Framework, I added a module named "Gravity Box" and in order for it to work , a reboot was required.
The phone shut down and after turning it back on, it stuck on boot animation.
After pulling the battery out and reinserting it, i entered recovery mode (stock android recovery), wiped cache and factory formatted it. Everything goes fine. But when i try to turn it back on after resetting (in the recovery menu) , it still remains in boot animation. I have tried all possible combinations, including leaving out the battery for a period of time etc.
If it helps- pressing Vol Up and power button, sends in a different menu for testing. All tests are passed, so there is not a hardware problem.
If there is any way to fix this problem (using ADB, or accessing and editing system files), please help me. Thank you !

Wipe data/factory reset, then install fresh rom through adb or recovery, should be fine after that.

Phone: Samsung Galaxy Music Duos
Rom: Latest ICS 4.0.4 official & unavialable
Status: Rooted
ics rom of galaxy music is better than its jb rom

I downloaded the whole rom for my phone and sp-flash tool (used with mediatek devices) . When i try to flash it - it displays an error S_UNSUPPORTED_VER_OF_DA (1022) .
1) Any idea, how can this be fixed ?
2) Do you know any other flash tool for mtk phones ?
3) Can the flashing procedure be done through ADB ?
4) Can I use a backup from stock recovery ?

Have you tried going into safe mode, then delete the xposed module first?

Yes, if you have a backup then just restore it via recovery.

[Q] Help with recovery on Optimus One P500?

Ok, So I've recently updated to stock gingerbread 2.3.3 with baseband .35. I rooted my phone with the SuperOneClick method. Root was successful (Finally).
I then wanted to install a custom ROM, so I installed ClockworkMod's ROM manager, flashed the clockwork recovery image and everything. I decided to make a backup image in case I didn't like the new ROM. I then selected the "Backup Current ROM" option, and left my phone to it's own devices. When I got back about 5 minutes later, I find that I have a hard reset on my hands :| To add to that, I don't even have a backup image!
I tried doing that a couple times more, once, I even held the POWER+VOL.DOWN+HOME combo and all. The same thing happened each time. The recovery backdrop and a sliding progress appeared, after about 4 seconds, the progress bar stopped moving, it shifted back to the LG boot logo. If I kept the combo pressed, it would go on and on for about 5 times, if I released it, it would just continue on to the boot and I would get another hard reset every time. I tried "Reboot into Recovery". Same thing. Once, I selected "Install ROM from SD card", with the backup option selected. Somehow or the other, due to the combo or something, I came to a screen that had four options.
1) Reboot
2) Install from SD card:update.zip
3) Wipe data
4) Wipe dalvik cache and cache
I was able to scroll up and down with the volume rocker, but the only other button that worked was the Home button, which toggled between the screen I mentioned above and a screen where all of the text was removed and there was just the recovery background. I finally popped out the battery and booted, and got yet ANOTHER hard reset.
HELP!
It seems Clockworkmod recovery was not flashed correctly. What you see is the stock android recovery. The recovery key mapping is:
volume rocker-up/down
menu (left most button)- select current option
back - go back
the behaviour you see when pressing the home button is normal.
After using Rom manager to install CWM recovery, it is not recommended to do further operations through rom manager, best uninstall it. Instead, boot into recovery using the three button combo and do operations from there.
I would suggest try again to re-flash CWM recovery.

Thanks, but do you have any idea WHY using ROM manager is a bad idea? Just curious.

Well, one reason I've encountered is that while flashing cwm recovery, if the download fails for some reason, Rom mananger has flashed the incorrectly downloaded file without verification resulting in a fastboot semi-brick for many users.
Another reason is related to the way it operates the recovery. I'm not very sure about this point, but I've seen many people having problems with backups and flashing.
Thanks, you were brilliant. I flashed another recovery from ClockworkMod, this time with a WiFi connection, and everything worked great.

[Q] Xperia Neo stuck at "SONY" logo when boot into CWM recovery

Hi everyone. Can anyone help me figure out what's the problem that i cant boot into CWM. I have Neo MT15i running FINE with stock rom ICS .587, locked bootloader and rooted. I also installed x-Parts as well as CWM 5.5 and busybox 1.20. But my problem is that my phone just cant boot into CWM recovery no matter what i did either press and release volume - continuously when "SONY" logo appears, or using x-Parts function to boot into recovery. It just ends up stuck at "SONY" logo (I waited for about 10 minutes but no respond)
You have to press Back button while booting from Sony Logo to boot into CWM.

Hello.
I have a similar problem, if not identical. I rooted my MT15i today hoping to install a custom ROM I found in this forum.
Everything went fine. I rooted the phone and installed Clockwork Mod Recovery properly.
Then, I downloaded the rom .zip, placed it in /sdcard, made a backup of my current system, wiped data/ full reset and installed the ROM with SUCCESS, as it said in the log.
After that, I rebooted the phone and now it keep stuck in the "SONY" boot screen and won't change no matter what I do.
But I think I know why did this happen. I was following a tutorial found in another site. There was listed only to wipe data and full reset, and not to wipe danvik and cache, as I came to read after I was stuck in the boot screen.
The problem is that now I can't even get to the Clockwork Mod Recovery screen, even if I start the phone holding volume down button (or reset, or any other button the phone might have).
The only thing to do is removing the battery. After starting again, it gets stuck again in SONY screen.
When I plug the phone into my PC, nothing happens. It doesn't get recognised.
It only turns on and stops at the SONY screen again.
I wonder if there's a way to access the Clockwork Mod Recovery menu or some way to return the phone to the stock settings.
Or is it a possible brick?
Thanks for the help already.
Ps.: sorry for the long post.
First of all don't worry your device is not broken
And not every custom Rom support locked bootloader
The reason you can't access cwm because you wiped data
I think you can restore your phone by reflash firmware using flashtool

I can get the phone to conect to the PC in flashmode. I downloaded the stock firmware of Neo MT15i (v 4.1.A.0.562) and flashed it, but no luck. The phone keeps stuck in the SONY screen. Any ideas?
EDIT: actually, when I bought the phone, it came with Android 2.3, I don't remember the firmware version.

It doesn't matter which android version you flash all should work
make sure you checked those boxes in flashmode
Wipe data
Wipe cache
Wipe apps log
No final verification
And just to know when you flashed the firmware. Does it completed successfully?

Well, I got the phone to boot. I was just trying to flash an incomplete firmware, I guess. I downloaded a new firmware I found in a rooting tutorial thread in this forum and flashed it. The phone is now working fine.
But now it's not rooted anymore. Maybe in the future I'll try to root and flash a new rom.
Thanks for the help, anyway.
Never mind, but I suggest you unlock your bootloader if you would like to flash custom Rom

Hi,
I installed following in my Neo V MT11i
Super Jelly Bean v6.0(16th august 2013)
best kernel for sjb(fusion 5.4)
debloated updated gapps
using following link . http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2108632
I am using Kernel_Flasher_v2.0 to flash the image kernel. It recognises the device and shows that the kernel is flashed. But the device doesnt reboot. I root the phone through eroot software. Then I install X parts and go into recovery mode.
I wiped the phone fully, including system format.
Please guide where I am missing some crucial step.
I am using windows 8
Thanks in advance

[Q] Bootloader destroyed - download mode stopped working

Hello everyone
I need the help of some professionals around here
I just made a mistake while trying to root my Galaxy Tab 10.1 (P7500) with Stock ICS (4.04) on it. I did the following:
I followed this a Tutorial to root the tablet with Odin.
1) I booted the tablet into download mode
2) Then I used odin to update the bootloader
3) Instead of clicking the "PDA" button in Odin I clicked the "Bootloader" button and started the flash process - which was the mistake
3) After this the tablet restartet
The problem is now the following. I cannot boot into the download mode anymore (the normal system still boots fine). When I press volume up + power the selection screen appears. When I then choose download mode, the screen turns black and the tablet restarts. I seem to have destroyed the bootloader.
So all methods to root the tablet with ODIN for flashing a new bootloader fail because I cannot get into download mode anymore.
So I tried the root method by copying the Rooting-Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-10.1.zip to the root directory. Then I went to the stock recovery mode and choose the option "update from external sd card" to install the root. Unfortunately I get the following message: "E:unknown volume for path [/sdcard]". I cannot find any way to choose a file. I read the the mount point in ICS to /sdcard is set during the boot process so its not available in the stock recovery mode.
So I am kind of stuck now because I cannot use Odin and also cannot use the stock recovery mode to do anything.
I also tried the following:
Reset to factory defaults - Didnt helpt still cannot get into download mode
Install Mobile Odin to flash a stock bootloader - did not work because there is no root
Does anyone of you have an idea? I am really stuck at the moment and would appreciate any help.
Try the emergency firmware recovery or re initialization tools in Kies and see how you get on. Never used them myself though so don't know how they're supposed to work. (May just try to invoke download mode?! I dunno!)

If you've got Clockwork Mod recovery installed, you should be able to install superuser to give you root permission.
Or are you still running stock recovery?

[Q] [HELP ME] Android System Recovery <3e> Not Working – Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i

This is my first post and frankly I am NOOB at XDA, Please help me. I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i & all I want is to ROOT my phone & install CWM Recovery for testing Custom ROMs there. I read many threads here and learnt that I have to boot my phone in Recovery Mode as I am using Stock Kernel & Stock ROM. I followed the following Thread exactly and tried to use update.zip for ROOTing phone & ClockWorkRec5830i.zip file for installing CWM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552792
I took my phone in recovery mode by pressing POWER + VOL UP (same thing on screen appears when I press POWER + VOL UP + HOME). It shows the Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i logo and at the bottom left corner is shows
=> Factory Mode
After 1 second it is displaying a yellow Triangle ’ ! ‘ sign inside. Not showing any Text there on the triangle page. Now if I press vol + or vol – or power button it is not working/changing the display. If I press the HOME button, then it is showing the following page:
Android System Recovery <3e>
Android System recovery utility
Reboot system now
Apply update from sdcard
----
----
----
Restore user data
Now when I am selecting Apply Update from SDcard by using VOL up/down and pressing HOME button it is not working but it is showing the first Triangle Page again. Then I have to press the HOME button again to see the default Android System Recovery <3e> page again. No options from that page are working not even reboot system now or wipe data/factory reset.
I tried it many times by removing SD card, SIM card etc from last 5 days and same thing happening. I have to remove battery to Switch OFF the phone. I think the kernel installed in my stock ROM got BUGs. And so that it is not working but I read that I can use ODIN to install CWM or ROOT package by taking my phone in download mode by pressing POWER + VOL DOWN (same thing on screen appears when I press POWER + VOL DOWN + VOL UP). In my phone when it is in download mode it is first showing the Ace Logo & in the bottom left corner:
=> Factory mode
After few second it is showing a page that is like:
Factory Mode
Full test
Item Test
Test Report
Clear Flash
Version
Reboot
Here I can select any option using the VOL key and select option by pressing the HOME key. All option is working OK here. I can reboot phone from here or reset phone to factory condition selecting “Clear Flash” option. I think this is not the download mode XDA members are talking about, I am confused totally. I installed KIES and Samsung Driver from many websites, used another PC and unfortunately my phone is not detecting by KIES or ODIN anyhow. I am sure I installed proper USB driver and used latest version of KIES and Samsung driver. I used ODIN 1.84, 1.85, 1.87, even 4.22 but none of them can detect my phone. I selected the debugging mode in my phone as well.
I can mound SD card in my PC and transfer files. In my Device Manager, It is showing Android ADB Interface and drivers are installed OK. I used SuperOneClick 2.2 and clicked Shell Root and SuperOneClick Log is showing my phone model, manufacturer name etc while ODIN is now detecting my phone (ID:COM) not being YELLOW.
So, I am unable to ROOT my phone & install CWM recovery there either through Default Android Recovery <3e> OR using ODIN because phone is not being detected there. My phone is working OK, my phone don’t have the default apps from Google like Gmail, Google talk, YouTube etc. it has play store & search app from Google only. All the functions of my phone working smoothly but I can’t install non-market app now. My phone info at Settings >> About Phone:
Model number: GT-S5830i
Android version: 2.3.6
Baseband version: S5830IZCLF1
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7 [email protected] #1
Build number: GINGERBREAD.ZCLF1

I tried another SD already and nothing happens when I select "apply update from sdcard". It shows the firrst triangle page again. I tried the same without any SD Card also, nothing. Even, if I select "reboot system" it again shows me the triangle page but phone not rebooting.
I can't flash any fireware because ODIN & KIES both can't detect my phone anyhow. If my current recovery would work, then there would no problem I think...

First of all, wrong device section mate! This is Galaxy Ace S5830i section. Also never ever touch any system files unless you know what you are doing. This is because all your important OS files are present there. Any slight mistake and you will find yourself in a bootloop or in the worse case you can even hard-brick your phone. Now if you can go to Download Mode, then you can flash back the stock rom through odin. Follow the instructions from the below link,

All stock firmwares for Galaxy Y
Next time make sure to post the question in the correct section. Hope I Helped

[Q] Soft brick: Not able to get through booltloop even after flashing official rom

Hi,
Am new to XDA- Forums so please pardon me if am not clear in my questions/queries.
Issue:
I am using Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 , few days back it suddenly went into bootloop( every time i switch on the device it starts upto Samsung logo and re-starts the same process again and again).
Details:
OS : 4.3.3 Jelly Bean
Observations:
Recovery mode is not available - it only shows an android icon with an exclamatory mark and a caption 'No Command'.
Resolutions tried:
1) Tried flashing the ROM with Official stock Rom but all practices in vain.
Possible reasons:
Is the device soft bricked. or is it a power button shot which causes it to boot loop.
Kindly assist me. Thanks in Advance

Yes.. it goes in download mode.
Flash a full stock firmware, the latest for your country, using Odin then factory reset.
If that works then all is well, but you might find Odin fails to flash due to nand memory damage/wear.
Hi,
Thanks to all for your valuable time and suggestions.
Currently my device is started and is working. But there are hick-up's which needs some clarifications.
Below steps were performed:
1) Initially I did not use to get recovery option from where i was not able to wipe data, so after researching a bit i found a suggestion to apply re-partition. So i used 'GT-I9300_mx_20120329_100%.pit' file and started the re-partition. All went fine but in Odin during re-partition it was stuck at a statement 'NAND write start' for about more then 30 minutes. So i was worried n unplugged the device in between. Fortunately after restart, it went into recovery mode and i applied wipe data factory reset.
2) Still the device got stuck in some weird screen called 'installier der anderden'. But now no bootloop (an affirmative sign :laugh.
3)Today i installed the official stock rom of samsung galaxy s3 for india and now its working. But the hick- up is
it restarts/ hangs or it shows Unfortunately so n so app has stopped.
Need guidance on below points:
1)Should i re-partition again using the .pit file. (now i will re-partition using 'SG3 16GB White.pit' got a link for this from xda forum).
2) After re-partition, installation of stock rom.
Thanks in advance.
Flash stock firmware and pit at the same time, then factory reset afterward.
If the phone still freezes or restarts after this then nand memory is worn, for which there is no cure.
Unfortunately every google app stops after some time.
Any solution/recommendations..
Should i apply re-partition and again apply an official stock rom ..
