I have a rooted EVO 4g LTE and when I plug my phone into my computer it will charge but it won't see my device so I can transfer files. What can I do to fix this?

Could be a driver issue, or a problem with the USB port on your computer. You can install HTC Sync if you want to get the latest drivers on your computer.

That didn't seem to help

Actually you were right, it was the usb port on the computer. Strange tho.

Damn, was hoping this thread was about Android File Transfer. Anyway...

evo 3d wont connect to pc

ive tried everything and there s no prompt to tell me to use disk drive for example ive even done a reset.
im currently on s-off hboot 1.49.008 (not revolutionary) with kingcobra rom. i honestly think its the hboot but i cant do anything since i cant get it to connect to the pc
does anyone have an idea of what might be the cause
thx
Are you sure you are using the correct usb cord, do you have the drivers installed on your computer, try to reboot your cpu, try another usb port, it's not likely your phone

Thx for the reply
Its 100% the phone because i have 2 evo 3ds at home and am using same port and htc usb cable only 1 evo 3d is not working and ive tryed different pcs
Try swapping sd cards, are you using kernel that is included with the rom, did you do a full wipe when you flashed the rom, try the easy stuff, before you start messing with hboot, when you plug in phone do you at least get the option to charge the phone
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using xda premium
I tryed all of the above and yes i did a full wipe and im using the kernel that came with the rom (stock htc). And i get no option whatsoever
Thx again for your reply
So when you plug the phone in do you at least get the option of charging the phone?

Ok i just got it you wanted to know if the phone jack actually works but yea it does charge so i dont think its a hardware problem
Have you tried rebooting the PC?

Re-flash the rom, sounds like the settings are messed up, under pc connection you should have multiple options when you connect your phone, check to see if any options exist. Did you flash the new firmware?

If you are S-OFF, yes. Take out the SD card, put it in another device that can read/write it, and copy another bootloader to the root of your SD card as PG86IMG.zip. Then put the SD card back in the phone, start the bootloader by pressing VolumeDown+Power, and confirm that you want the current bootloader to flash the new bootloader.

I dought it's hboot, I know some folks are having issue's with kingcobra's settings on asop, try flashing another rom, it's easier

Try leaving the phone set to 'Charge Only'.

just try this. remember you're starting from scratch. but it's essentially the manual method linked to above, but also s-off and very easy to follow

I've tried using "charge only" and still nothing and I have tried multiple times reinstalling drivers and still nothing the only thing that shows up is my removable disk and that's when I hit havedisk or what ever it is

Can you change from charge only mode to sd when you have your phone connected to pc?
If I choose havedisk on my phone then my sd card shows up but when I have it hooked up to the computer nothing shows up only on my phone
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Your going to have to try another pc. If you can't see the sd on another pc then it would probably be the usb port on your phone. What it looks like is that either the rx or tx contact on the phones usb port is damaged. If you don't have another pc then take it to sprint and tell them that you can't transfer data to your sd via pc. The will check the port for you.
Ok I noticed when clicking from charge only to media sync where the phone icon would show on the computer something flashes there when I switch them but its so fast I can't read what it says but it doesn't stay

Yup it sounds like the USB port on the phone, you said you tried another cable right?

Connect Internet From Phone To PC?

My sister asked me a question that I think is best left up to those that know, You all.
Is it possible to connect the phone to a PC to get the Internet on the phone? I guess I'm asking for reverse tethering, using the data connection from the computer, to go on line on the phone.
Sent from my HTCEVOV4G using Tapatalk 2
I think thats possible on official ota and sense roms...
If u connect the phone with an usb cable u should have Internet Pass through as option
It tells you that you have to check if you configured your network in the right way
Not quite sure what that means, but it worked perfect for me without doing anything at all

Piece of cake using a wireless router. That's how I use my 3devo when I'm home. It connects as soon as I'm close to my house.

Thanks, but I was speaking of a wired option.
I'm not quite sure why. I've learned to not ask that question with her. It only tends to confuse me more.

Should appear in the status bar of the phone ( on sense roms at least )

Only USB Charges

My phone only USB charges, meaning that when I connect my phone to an outlet battery monitor widget pro will tell me my phone is charging as if it is connect to a pc. My phone does take a significantly long time to charge.
I'm wondering is there anything that I overlooked that could be causing this problem. Or should I just take it to sprint??
This also could be related to my problem of not being able to access my sd card files on my computer through a USB connection.

Had same problem with my EVO 3D before I got my elte, and after testing at sprint store, they concluded that something went haywire inside phone that prevented it from switching from AC to usb and got replacement sent in...sounds like your EVO LTE is doing same thing (your're the first person I've seen have the usb only charging rate on an ELTE). Good luck and keep us posted.

[Q] WIndows 8.1 MTP won't stabalize

I have AT&T M8. Windows 8.1. When I connect phone with USB cable the MTP won't establish a secure connection so that phone shows attached to computer and I can explore files. The MTP files show as installed. I have HTC sync manager insatlled. But Media device (MTP) connected flashes non stop and computer keeps asking what to do with phone when connected. File explorer shows phone connected and then gone again in a couple of seconds.
Help please!
I'm having the EXACT SAME ISSUE on 8.1. Can someone please help? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!! I'm stock rooted, no mods. Usb debug enabled, no lock screen and sync manager uninstalled. Can't get firewater soff thru adb because of this issue....

Try a different port. Yes it sounds silly, but I have had this same issue on 3 different types of phones. I would always forget about having this problem and I kept saying what the heck is wrong here until I realized it. I always end up putting it in the wrong port so I ended up labeling the correct port on the PC.
Thanks for the advice! I have 3 ports on my laptop, I've tried all 3 of them with no luck. I'm trying to s-off using firewater thru adb, after I run the first command "adb reboot" , my phone reboots. I get 3/4 of the way thru the commands for s-off and my computer asks me a bunch of questions about my m8 and then I get disconnected from adb, (no device)? I'm running Windows 8.1, stock root, no mods, screen lock off, usb debug on, fast boot off, sync manager uninstalled from my computer. I'm out of ideas to try. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.....

If your laptop only has USB3.0 ports, then you'll need to replace the built in Microsoft USB 3.0 drivers with the Intel USB3.0 eXtensible Host Controller drivers. This will give you proper ADB support when your phone reboots into fastboot mode. Also make sure you have proper HTC drivers installed as well (HTC Sync manager drivers should do the job, but if not, the HTC driver links can be found on this site).
Known issue with Windows 8/8.1 USB 3.0 and adb.
Sorry I don't have direct URL's at the moment, but I'm in the middle of a workshift. If you can't find what I'm talking about I'll post more info tomorrow.
Hope this helps.
