Any equalizer that works with our phones and play music? - AT&T LG Optimus G

I've been looking for an equalizer for music... ideally one that works with any music app I choose, but in particular one that works with Google Play music (just because all my music is already in there).
I've tried several, and while a couple kind of worked (they show up as available choices when you hit Equalizer in Play Music's settings), they either only sometimes actually have an effect, or eventually will cause no audio out of the player whatsoever and I usually have to reboot to get it back.
Others, while they seem to work fine for the built in music player, don't seem to do anything for Play music. We don't have the audio effects menu in our sound settings which may have something to do with how the audio is routed which may be why most of these are not useful.

Try this one. I've used with good results

Thanks. That's probably the one I'd had the best luck with in the past, but it's still been hit-or-miss.

you can also try Viper4android from playstore. It is an excellent app for rooted phones. I have been using for the last few months, and it gives an excellent sound response from almost any earphone, with superb facility to tune, and adjust to your liking.

Plus one for vipermod. Been using it a while, it works well.

Music Player

Just trying to get an idea, what music player is everyone using? Currently I'm using Google Music but I have a new pair of headphones coming in the mail in a few days and want to get the best out of them. Share your thoughts!

EDIT: The dropbox link from the thread I got it from is invalid now. I'll link a download to mine. Place it in /system, set permissions (644), then place in /system/app. A reboot may be required for it to appear in your app drawer.

I also use DSP Manager which has several nice tweaks. It's what you're looking for if you want to get the most out of your headphones. You should definitely check that out.

Hi there. Let me chime in as well. I am using PlayerPro (paid) and I prefer it due to the interface and skin layout. I tried ProAmp and a bunch of others and they are not my cup of tea. I personally don't like google music interface. I also see not much sense in storing my music in the cloud where I can't access it when I am in the air. I am in the process of getting myself a 64GB sdxc and that will hold everything that I currently have on my Zune. As a side, I wish there were an app that lets you use the GS2 with my zune pass subscription, which lets you store your downloaded music subscription etc to your zune player. Currently you can't play this content on the GS2. I am using Klipsch S4 and they are excellent, and for air travel I may switch them on occasion with my audio-technica noise cancelling ear buds.

The EQ app? Just "Equalizer" from the market. I use it since G-Music sounds flat out of the box.

I think PlayerPro has the best interface/sound combo with PowerAmp a close second. I've paid for both.
PlayerPro is the easiest/most intuitive of any player I've tried. The ability to pick the artist photos is a huge plus in my book.
Also, I own those Klipsch S4 earbuds. They sound great!

good music player software for the 10.1

Hi there,
this is a thread to discuss music player software for the galaxy tab. So far I found 2 nice software players:
Play Music:
the default player has a nice eye-candy ui that looks good on the tab, but other than that it doesn't have much going for it. It lacks an equalizer and visualizations.
Android Music Player by JRTStudio:
this player comes with a clean ui, allthough it doesn't seem to be particularly suited for tablet devices. It also lacks some sort of fullscreen music visualization, but it comes with a good equalizer built in. That way, you can enjoy your music.
WinAMP for Android:
horrible UI, totally unsuited for tablet devices, lack of visuals and equalizer (EQ only in pro version).
do you know any alternatives (free or paid)? It would be nice if the software could show a nice music visualization on the screen while playing music.
regards
Horscht
I have very good references about this:
Here is the trial version.

I find Power Amp great as well
Wow, PowerAMP looks really clean and works well. The sound options are just plain awesome. It still lacks visualizations but, damn this is a great player. But at a price of 4€ not exactly cheap either. Gonna keep on using the trial for now, see if it's really worth that price tag
I've been using Jukefox for a few days. The first time you run it you need to wait a bit, but that's because its loading album art and generating a tag cloud. Not sure if I like it or not - I usually go for a really clean simple UI. But the way it presents your music isn't like any other player I've seen before.

I've got rocket player on both my tab and phone and cant fault it

By far the best sound quality. Nice UI. But you need to get to know it a little bit.
Developer still makes changes to the UI. Work in progress

Yup, I agree its the best one I've used so far
Have you tried doubletwist? It's not too bad.
I like Google Play Music the best because the interface looks really snazzy and the homescreen widget looks good next to the other stock ICS widgets. The cloud sync features are also pretty useful.
Player pro or Poweramp. I use Poweramp.
I use the Poweramp, but i like the winamp too.
I'm fairly certain by now I've tried them all and not one was even close to as useful as Poweramp. I bought it because I liked it that much!
It's packed full of useful options and features, hard to avoid this one!
Ironically, the best music player I've found was the stock one in CM9 before they switched to Apollo.
Aside from that, I'd recommend poweramp, just don't expect any support for it. Last I checked their support forums was full of spam and hadn't seen any non-newb questions getting answered in months.
Poweramp because it's equalizer remains the best. Player Pro's eq isn't a good in my opinion but it is still a solid player.
I like n7player

[OFFICIAL][MOD] ViPER4Android (V4A) Audio Effects - FX v2206 & XHIFI v2009

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
This is just a link to this Audio Mod to let people know of it's existence and that it is compatible with the N10. I have used it and I think it is fantastic. Not only is it a very powerful audio tweaking and improvement app it also allows the onboard speakers to gain more volume across the board and not just app specific.
I am just a normal end user so don't bother asking me any questions here, lol.
I just saw this line in the thread "To volunteers, feel free to share V4A in your respective device's forum or anywhere applicable. Link them to download here. Thanks." and I was so impressed with the mod I felt moved to do so.
Amazing audio mod. Had to set it to compatibility mode and everything sounds louder, clearer, and cleaner. (with some fine tuning)

Yep, I am really impressed with it.
It works better than any others I have tried.
@stonebear,
Nice work to share in the N10 forum..
For certain players if it still does not work in Compatibility mode, switch it to Safe mode and without a doubt it should work.
Don't understand it but it works.
Is it safe to use?
LE I mean in the long term for the speakers

As with any audio mod, or mods in general for that matter, you experiment at your own risk. I'm not saying that using this is "dangerous" by any means, but everyone knows higher volume and bass can cause damage if you're not careful. However, it should be common sense to determine how loud is too loud for your external speakers to handle.
99% of the time I use a good pair of studio quality headphones with my tablet for any music or videos so its not an issue for me.
Just wondering how you set this up?
I installed the FX version, installed the APK, chose A9/15 with neon. When I go into driver status, even after reboot it says:
Neon enabled: Yes
Enabled: No
Status: Normal
Processing:No
I can tell it's doing something when I'm listening to a song and flip the equalizer on and off, not sure if that's it though.

Simple. You can install both. Freeze either one of them using titanium or run both together.
Can anybody confirm what your "Music Effects" button in options SHOULD do? I click it and instead of letting me select, like on my phone, I get this.

With any audio playing app you must always disable the apps audio features such as built in equalizers. With MX Player: Settings->Audio and un-check Volume Boost. That is how my MX Player audio settings are and it works perfectly with V4A.

I don't believe those settings are where your problem resides but here are my settings anyway.
Settings->Decoder
- All HW items check except "HW+ decoder (10 bit)"
- No software or any other items checked on the Decoder settings panel
Settings->Audio
- The only settings that are checked are the two Fade settings and System volume panel
My last suggestion is to go the main V4A XDA thread and search on MX Player. That is how I confirmed which settings you need to make V4A and MX Player compatible.

DFX Music Player

Hello to everyone.
I've been using DFX Sound enhancer on PC from long time ago and I love it. Soon I saw that they've released a player for Android phones and god it's it fine, the sound is perfect. But ofcourse, it has his bad side. Everytime I listen to music and I open a app or I recive a notification the music "stops" for a fraction of a secound. I use a XperiaJ, maybe the app isn't made for low specs phones. Somebody tried it? It feels the same?
Here's the app.
