Droid 4i is due out Dec. 8th.
http://www.droid-life.com/tag/droid4/
Everyone knows what the rezound has but some of the advantages of the Droid 4i are gorilla glass and slide out keyboard. The disadvantage would be no beats audio and a slower processor and I do believe that the Droids HD front camera is not as good as the Rezounds 2mp.
I already have the Rezound but im thinking of returning it and waiting for the droid unless i can find more info for a comparison to make a proper judgement.

Do you need a physical keyboard? If no, then you have your answer.
No way in hell i could give the rezound screen up for any motorola screen.
main two negatives for the droid 4 screen size and specs and the battery is permanent
Droid 4 screen = 4inch qHD (same one the Razr has I believe. Which, by the way, I have heard almost nothing good about.
Rezound = 4.3inch 720P and I have heard nothing but praise about it.
This is all based on reviews and opinions expresses by others. I have been busy so I haven't gotten the chance go check them out myself.
Sent from my HTC Thunderbolt
all i know is if i'm going to give up the Rezound, with my big ass hands it'd have to be for something with a bigger screen, not a smaller one. f that
I see all the comparisons of the Droid DNA to various other phones...some newer, some older. I am an Android Junkie, and have had 5 phones in the last year. I hope people find my opinions helpful. I have no allegiance to any phone manufacturer. I've owned almost all of them. My $.02
I have owned the OG droid, HTC Droid Inc, HTC ThunderBolt, Moto Droid X2, HTC Rezound, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, (2x)Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC Droid DNA(current Phone).
I will only be talking about current and last gen phones.
I see alot of people coming from the thunderbolt to the DNA. Makes sense since the TBolt came out roughly two years ago, hence the two year upgrade eligibility. The Samsung GS3 (US Snapdragon S4 Dual core model) is in my opinion set a clear revolutionary bar in phone technology. It was beautiful, had phenomenal battery life and performance was head and shoulders above the rest at launch time and is even trades transistors with some just released quad core competition. The Rezound was an absolute abysmal phone. Lets be honest it was a last gen phone (snapdragon S3) that had pathetic battery life, way too much bloat, and a version of sense that felt like a ton of bricks on top of the OS. And lets not forget the Rezound could double as a pocket warmer as well. The only saving grace of the rezound was its beautiful SLCD-2 screen. Colors were rich and accurate. The Galaxy Nexus was an absolute pleasure to own from day one. I hadn't experienced any radio problems that were talked about on the forums. The phone was snappy bright beautiful and felt way faster than the Rezound even though on paper the Rezound was faster (S3 @ 1.5GHZ with powerVR vs TI-Omap @1.2). Battery life was an improvement especially with the LTE radio on. I would still be using my Nexus if it weren't for the S3 buzz. Just hadda have one when the hype bug got to me. Having built in LTE on the SOC was a plus as well. The DroidX2 was a red headed stepchild of a phone. Dual core yes...performance of one...NO. Battery life was a positive...thats about it. My tBolt overclocked to 1.92Ghz felt way snappier. My current Droid DNA is a sight to see. When I heard rumors of a Snapdragon S4 quad core with 2 gigs of ram in a 5" screen that had 1080P resolution... I had to have one. Battery life is definitely on par with the GS3. The screen... ohhhh the screen....I cannot put enough emphasis on how easy on the eyes it is. Colors are accurate, saturation is neutral, and sharpness is mind blowing. (Retina what?) It is svelte and the materials used are very pleasing and confidence inspiring to touch.
The Galaxy S3 is a super phone and with AOSP JB Roms is phenomenally fast. The DNA is Super Fast and either phone is a great addition/replacement to any last gen phone. Thanks to all Developers that sacrifice time, money and family time to make these devices more enjoyable to us all. Happy Holidays everyone!!!

when I first got the DNA in the mail and I pulled it out, I was just like no way, this thing is going back, I'm coming from 4' HTC INC4g, and it just felt huge! I considered going to exchange it for the SG3, but within 20 mins I fell in love with the DNA. I could on for and on about how great this phone is.
I do wish it was like 4.7' instead of the 5', but beggars can't be choosers lol, and if a smaller phone comes out that I like, I will prob sell this one and buy it
personally, coming from an s3, although bigger, i'm used to the size. yeah it was huge at first, but now it's normal lol

It's not that different from the SGS3 and One X; the difference is in the height. Now the N2, that's a difference.
That's a huge wall of text

I also came from the S3 and must say that I actually prefer the size of the DNA over the S3 as far as holding it in the hand goes. The S3 is wider and not as comfortable in the hand as the DNA imo. Both are great phones, but if I had to do it all over again, I would still sell the S3 for the DNA.

LOL... I was thinking the same thing.. I got a good hearty chuckle out of your post!
Got the G2 on launch day from a Verizon store here in town. Phone is great, no doubt about that. What worries me is that this appears to be a hero phone without much demand. HTC has done a great job of marketing the One, and everyone knows Moto. The G2 on display at the Verizon store is jammed between an iPhone and an older model Samsung something-or-other with no signage other than a huge "Samsung Galaxy" poster on the wall behind it.
If I keep this, it will be the third device in a row that I've bought as a "flagship" which wound up getting the cold shoulder in many ways.
First I had the HTC Incredible, probably the most popular of the bunch. While it did have ROM development, it was quickly forgotten when the HTC EVO came out seemingly a week later. Accessories were few and far between.
Second was the Galaxy Nexus, heralded as a "Google experience" device on Verizon. After endless launch delays, it came out and was quickly forgotten by Verizon and Google both. Accessories were few and far between.
Now I have the LG G2, a great device with awesome specs! I actually don't mind the Verizon/LG "skin" on this so much. But again, Verizon had to **** it up with changing the buttons and making the thing thicker. Accessories will be practically nil for this device other than the three cases from Verizon at launch. There will be countless Chinese imports that will claim to fit but will not, because the back-alley factories making this crap don't give a damn about doing anything per spec. Just make it look vaguely correct and slap a knock off hello-kitty design on the back and call 'er done! "Your Happy Plastic Partner" indeed!
I am also afraid that development will completely stall on this device because everyone will head to the Nexus 5...
Sigh... I should just go trade for an HTC One, I think... I don't know. I am torn.
The moto x isn't selling well (att rep who owns a moto x said he hasn't been able sell a single one) HTC marketing well, are you kidding? They are losing money head over heels even with the one. They only thing with LG is, they have a very small market share they are not Apple or Samsung.

I feel the op pain I had the G pro witch I felt was the most underrated phone ever and coming from the note 2 it was way better than the note2 and the G pro was DOA LG has zero marketing as well as a very bad reputation of leaving customers out to dry as far as updates. LG makes bad ass phones no doubt but needs a lot of work in marketing and support

True. That's the literal only thing that worries me... updates. Moto x I'm sure will beat g2 to updates (the other phone I have) but that's the only plus for the phone other than size.

Specs or no specs, anyone I know that has or has tried a MotoX loved it. I think whats killing them is the $199 for a 16GB non-expandable phone, sitting right next to a 32GB Galaxy S4 and HTC One for 149, the LG G2 for 199, etc.
And their goal with that phone WASNT balls to the wall specs....it was supposed to reliable and economical (but again the high price question still applies)
I have used the moto x and can tell you the 720 display and processor really are fine. The software enhancements kick total ass. That being said this phone Absolutely destroys it on every front. I absolutely hate amoled. Way too dim.

This. Everything is fine with the moto x, and I'd still be using it if the battery was decent but lately I've been getting idle drain that I can't figure out. As for amoled, it's great indoors, terrible outside. If LG steps their game up with update frequency I have no problem keeping this phone for a long time. Same goes for the moto x if I was somehow getting the 5+ hours of screen on time per day some people are reporting. Oh, and one grip with lg. Why is there not an option to make the buttons on the bottom like aosp to have the recent apps button and not just the menu...

If the LG G2 dont get rom support and community love i'll be surprised. I say this because its a flagship device from LG and available on all 4 major carriers; just like the htc one, galaxy phones & moto x. We just need a unlocked bootloader.

No, you do NOT want an HTC One. I just sold my One for the G2...the G2 completely destroys the One in every way except for speakers and construction material, which are two minor things IMO since I prefer using headphones and the G2 feels solid/premium even though it's not metal. The One IS a great phone, but not as great as the G2. I really don't care if the G2 isn't bought in mass by the masses because I know I have a great phone and that's all that matters. I will be a little disappointed if there aren't many custom roms, but I'm OK with that because the stock rom is super smooth and customizable, plus I will be less tempted to constantly swap roms if there aren't many available

Actually I think the blame for locked bootloaders falls on the carriers, not the manufacturer. S4 is unlocked but not on VZW, etc.
LG will do whatever VZW tells them (or lets them). But VZW may not care if they really dont think this phone will sell well, or if they arent marketing it very much (which, as we can tell, they are NOT)

They aren't marketing it AT ALL. I've seen some Droid Maxx commercials though and an even recent Moto X commercial but zero for the LG G2.
I am curious what phones y'all think could replace your rezound!
As of now there isn't much better on the one handed market than the Rezound, I specifically to Verizon for it and its a two year old device!
I am a one handed/one thumbed user and hate these huge 5+ inch screen flagship phones, and all of the current smaller phones are watered down and/or have no external storage.
edit: just found a 32gb version of the moto x. although thats not enough space for me I could make it work once the device gets cheaper.
I got my DNA given to me. It is right at 5" though. I do use one hand on it. It is thinner than my Rezzy. Downside is no SD slot, but you can always use the OTG capabilities of the phone.
Size out of the mix, the newer phones are way snappier and have extremely longer battery life. I would be lucky to have 2.5hrs screen time with my Rez, the DNA gets between 3.5-4.5hrs screen time. The phones that came out this year I have seen some get over 5-6hrs.

I moved to the HTC one and couldn't be happier. 4.7" screen seems to be perfect for me. After the bionic I wrote Motorola off.

TBH I want to go to a phablet next, but for smaller phones I think the Moto G or Moto X would be pretty good. They're extremely close in physical size if you compare the numbers.
Moto G:
h: 129.9mm
w: 65.9mm
d: 11.6mm
wt: 143g
Rezound:
h: 129mm
w: 65.5mm
d: 13.7mm
wt: 170.1g
I went with the HTC One and I am loving it so far. But I'm very enticed by the Moto X as well. Those are the top two for me right now on the market for Verizon

It is a bit taller, slightly wider, and yet thinner and lighter with amazing battery life. Again the best bet it is to go to a store and play with the various models, that would always be your best bet.
I tried out the Samsung GS4 for a while but found it just a bit too large. I ended up deciding that size and usability trumped the removable battery and SD card, so I bought a Moto X Dev Edition and have been really happy with it.
I actually prefer smaller phones. My perfect size is around 60x120 mm, whatever the screen diagonal the manufacturer can get inside that (my Desire Z had the perfect form factor).
If my Rezound died I would buy an Xperia Z1 Compact. It has top-notch specs and the size is still acceptable. The lack of removable battery isn't that much of an issue now that big external battery packs are available.
The only other phone that fits the compact form factor + correct specs is this one by Kyocera: http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=4911&view=1 They beat the seemingly impossible task of putting a 4.3" screen inside a 60x122 mm body, this is pretty incredible. But sadly it's a Verizon phone and I'd like to have european 4G on my future phone, also the SoC inside is a bit dated.

yup, I have been following the z1 compact for months now. I will be switching to att for it come next month! It is THE phone to get! external memory, 4.3 inch screen for one thumb use, quad core, ips screen, camera button, waterproof, and huge following!
I got my LG G2 yesterday and love it. I can operate most things one handed, and I have relatively small hands for a man. It does include options, though, to set it up for one handed use. It allows a smaller keyboard that you can slide to the left or right of the screen, and you can do the same with the phone dialer. I had seen the great features it had that were listed, but I've discovered many more that weren't. I absolutely love this phone. If all future LG phones are like this one, in the future, I'll likely never consider another HTC or Samsung again.
I've been thinking about the new GS5 and maybe HTC m8 or LG G3 if they come out in the next few months. Currently I'm still using the rezound.

After seeing how Samsung is trying to stop all third-party accessories and have there own "app store", they are getting more and more Apple-like, not sure I would want to deal with Samsung ever again unless they change their tune.
The LG G2 is an amazing phone, my son got one when his Casio Commando bit the dust a couple weeks ago... I was more than just slightly impressed, and my normal personal phone is a Nexus 4, and this is rediculously faster and better battery life ((6+ hours screen time on WiFi, 5+ hours on Verizon LTE, and with Auto Brightness turned on!!!)) beyond my N4, much less the Rezound. If I had to get a phone today on Verizon, I don't think I would even consider anything else right now.
Well, considering my Rezound I've had since November 2011 is finally giving up the ghost on me (random persistent reboots, funky power connector connection, bluetooth quit working earlier this week, wifi quit working on me today, etc.), I ave reserached and decided my next will be the LG G2. Love what I'm seeing with that phone.
My contract ended back last October lol. Waiting on the gs5 , but I almost did pick up the g2.

Doubt it because HTC only does it for dual sim phones and importing those means no LTE in most cases.

No chance with removable batteries since they like their unibody design. I think it has a microusb slot to charge right now.
I'm torn between HTC's upcoming device, the Xperia Z1 (assuming TMo gets it) and the LG G2. It depends on which one delivers the best experience.

I can't do LG ever again.
I had the LG g2x and it was pre crap and LG knew it and did nothing to fix it.
I'm not too sire what I wanna upgrade to.
I been thinking of a note 3. I had a s2 for a long time and it never did me wrong but I do love the front speakers on the HTC one tho and I think they will put it on the htc two also.
I guess I'll just wait and see what comes out around April, since that's normally when more infor and releases are done.
Bad news, HTC next phone will have 2GB of RAM still. 3GB is what Samsung is doing and they can push the power and efficiency envelope even more.
I don't know. S800 is faster than S600, but the S600 is pretty overkill for a phone as is. Maybe if they put the pwr button on the right with the volume rocker and ditch the capacitive buttons for modern on screen keys though?
Seems like everyone is in a holding pattern until the A57 parts are ready.

Why do people not like capacitive buttons? The M7's button layout is one of my favorite things about it.

Agreed. I think the nexus style screen based buttons look really cheap and unfinished.
On screen buttons will take a space in your 5" screen so technically htc m8 will roughly still be 4.7 or 4.8" screen.
Reports says 2gb of ram..i guess it is enough and 3gb is overkill..samsung is just exagerrating all the specs but it really sounds good to have a higher specs. 6-8 ultrapixel are great.i just hope it will not have an issue like the purple tint on my htc one.battery reported was 2900mah which is boooo! They should atleast put 3300mah on it but this isnt final as this is only rors on the web.

I've had every device under the sun and always seem to come back to HTC . always loved sense. So yes I'll be upgrading.

Based on the leaked specs, I'm pretty meh on the whole M8. It's an upgrade over the M7, but it's nothing like the huge leap that the One was over the One X (note to HTC, please do something about the names).
Honestly, I'm going to wait and see what Motorola does with the next version of the X. If they move to a 1080p display, I'm sold. I'm kind of shocked to hear myself say that, since the one is my 5th HTC phone, but I like the way motorola is adding genuinely useful stuff onto the base of android, rather than stuff like... oh... blinkfeed? That said, give me a Moto X with the HTC gallery app... that'd be tasty.

Blinkfeed introduced me to the song Midnight Blue, by Electric Light Orchestra, so it's not all that bad .
Since the M8 is looking more and more like a (very) modest upgrade over the M7, I'll probably not upgrading.
The only two things I would love to have added on in the next version would be a Nokia Pureview like camera and LTE-A antennas.

When the Nexus 5 came out, I was initially torn between it and the Moto X (even had a N5 in hand like 3 days after release), but I discovered that you could convert the aluminum beauty called in the M7 into basically a Nexus device and I really found just about the perfect phone for me as a result. I'd love to play around with a Moto X, but the problem with owning an M7 is I'm not sure I can go back to having a plastic phone ever again!
I love stock Android, but I've played around with Sense for a couple of days before converting to GPE, and it definitely has some interesting concepts I'd love to see in stock. Blinkfeed is a matter of taste, I think. I think it's pretty cool, but I don't like it at the same time.

It wouldn't be so bad if it had a proper app switcher button and a standard layout, but its a simple fact that on screen buttons are better. They're more flexible with positioning, hide when they need to be hidden, and you're not wasting bezel space.
Its sad that even years after on screen buttons launched, we have some manufacturers going even further backwards and putting physical buttons on their devices. ie, Samsung.
I will be upgrading..I subscribe to jump and believe it's going to be awesome.
HTC best device ever owned.

There was a video leaked on Engadget (probably some kid who got a parent's test model) of the M8 and it looks as though it has an SD slot this time.
