Is this usable for the SGP5? has stuff like Wolfson Sound Engine*AND ScoobyDoo Sound Engine 1.1
I went to cm10.2 m1 and can't use viper4android anymore since its in infinite driver detect mode.
That's a kernel for the S3. You're going to brick your SGP5 if you flash it. In fact, don't flash any kernel that is not made for the particular device.

instead of creating a new thread, I'd edit my old one and ask this question.
I was just curious what the big differences are really. Thanks and sorry for all the idiotic questions.

Glitched aokp. Has the newest things. The glitch kernel it comes with is actually newer than the one you can download separately. And also has improvements that cant easily be done without building the 2 around eachother. From what i gather, when the devs started glitched aokp and the bigmem ram mod they made a considerable device fork from other aosp Roms on our phone. Making some of the included stuff incompatible with other roms, like ths.
Just think of glitched aokp as the bleeding edge for this phone.

Is anyone out there using a non-Semaphore based kernel?
In my experience, Phore (and its variants) is fast & smooth, but for reasons I have yet to surprise, after a few days my poor refurb can't handle it & becomes a kernel panic landmine.
Again, not bashing Semaphore (why would I? It's awesome).
Just looking for something that might prove more stable on MY finicky phone besides the stock CM kernel.

What is a kernel? Why are there so many? Which one should I use? I am currently running Hyperdrive RLS 7 with TW Stock Optimized kernel. I just don't understand. Info would be greatly appreciated.

Basically a kernel is the software that interfaces with the hardware. There are "so many" because different developers cook in different features like the ability to overclock or underclock, etc. Faux kernel has faux sound, ktoonsez kernel has ktweaker. Don't really know much about chronic kernel. I usually like to use ktoonsez, but apparently faux has better hardware support at the moment (because of the update we haven't gotten yet). So really it's up to you which you want to use
You need to start her...for sure...

Hey is that kernel overckock capable and can I use it on pac man 4.3?
Nope, 4.2 kernels don't work with 4.3
Sent from my VZW Note II using XDA DEV
NEAK is generally built around installing and letting it do it's thing. The engine app has modes you can select that do most of the work. Honestly I just let it do it's thing and it's fine. Now the sounds app is another story.

I am running neak on carbon ROM. And let me tell you, its a beast. I installed the uneak engine app and chose the battery saver option and I have been getting at least 7 hours screen time and around 18 hours total time. Thats under heavy use. If into light I'm sure I could get a day or two.

Actually.....I've got N.E.A.K. running on Paranoid Android 4.3 Alpha without a hitch. I figured I'd give it a shot and see if it boots, and to my surprise, it does and worked. I reverted back to 4.2.2 because of some other graphics anomalies which were outlined in the CM and PA threads.
I just switched to alliance rom recently and and need to find the link to the most updated neak kernel again anyone with link info?

What do you mean "not working for you"?? There's an AOSP kernel by Gustavo_s as well, but I don't know if it's been updated for 4.3 yet. That's pretty much your options AFAIK. I use Dori & it works great. So what issues are you having? A kernel doesn't just "not work".
